Viscous dissipation effect on heat transfer characteristics of a rectangular microchannel is studied. Flow is governed by the Navier–Stokes equations with the slip flow and temperature jump boundary conditions. Integral transform technique is applied to derive the temperature distribution and Nusselt number. The velocity distribution is taken from literature. The solution method is verified for the case where viscous dissipation is neglected. It is found that, the viscous dissipation is negligible for gas flows in microchannels, since the contribution of this effect on Nu number is about 1%. However, this effect should be taken into account for much more viscous flows, such as liquid flows. Neglecting this effect for a flat microchannel with an aspect ratio of 0.1 for Br=0.04 underestimates the Nu number about 5%.  相似文献

This paper presents the application of Sinc bases to simulate numerically the dynamic behavior of a one-dimensional elastoplastic problem. The numerical methods that are traditionally employed to solve elastoplastic problems include finite difference, finite element and spectral methods. However, more recently, biorthogonal wavelet bases have been used to study the dynamic response of a uniaxial elasto-plastic rod [Giovanni F. Naldi, Karsten Urban, Paolo Venini, A wavelet-Galerkin method for elastoplasticity problems, Report 181, RWTH Aachen IGPM, and Math. Modelling and Scient. Computing, vol. 10, 2000]. In this paper the Sinc–Galerkin method is used to solve the straight elasto-plastic rod problem. Due to their exponential convergence rates and their need for a relatively fewer nodal points, Sinc based methods can significantly outperform traditional numerical methods [J. Lund, K.L. Bowers, Sinc Methods for Quadrature and Differential Equations, SIAM, Philadelphia, 1992]. However, the potential of Sinc-based methods for solving elastoplasticity problems has not yet been explored. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the possible application of Sinc methods through the numerical investigation of the unsteady one dimensional elastic-plastic rod problem.  相似文献

Elemental analysis of tarhana, a traditional Turkish cereal soup, has been conducted. A new method was developed for the determination of calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, and sodium, in tarhana by microwave induced plasma atomic emission spectrometry. A sample of 0.1?g were mineralized by microwave digestion in 10?mL of 65% HNO3. A wheat flour standard reference material (GBW 08503) was used for validation. Linear calibration using standards prepared in acid was conducted for all determinations. The limits of detection were 1.21?µg?g?1 for Ca at 393.366?nm, 0.43?µg?g?1 for Fe at 259.940?nm, 11.5?µg?g?1 for K at 766.491?nm, 0.12?µg?g?1 for Mg at 285.213?nm, 0.04?µg?g?1 for Mn at 403.076?nm, and 0.04?µg?g?1 for Na at 588.995?nm. Ca, K, Fe, Mg, Mn, and Na were determined in tarhana with values from 0.73 to 1.61, 0.016 to 0.061, 2.02 to 4.09, 0.473 to 1.414, 0.019 to 0.043, and 0.26 to 1.83?mg?g?1, respectively.  相似文献

Soybean isoflavones possess hormonal and nonhormonal properties that may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, osteoporosis, and certain cancers, and alleviate hot flashes in menopausal women. Among the various cancers whose risk may be reduced by isoflavones, there is particular interest in prostate cancer. Eleven trials have examined the effects of isoflavones on serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels. The dose of isoflavones in these trials from supplements or soy protein ranged from 60 to 900 mg/day (typical Japanese intake is 30-50 mg/day), subject number/group ranged from 8 to 62, and study duration from 20 days to 1 year. Isoflavones did not affect serum PSA in healthy subjects. In contrast, in 4 of 8 trials involving prostate cancer patients, isoflavones significantly favorably affected PSA although in no studies was there an absolute decrease in PSA concentrations. The mechanism by which isoflavones affect PSA could not be determined from the existing research, although hormonal changes do not seem to be a factor. The clinical evidence is sufficiently encouraging to justify considering additional Phase II and III clinical trials investigating the efficacy of soy isoflavones in different populations of prostate cancer patients alone and in combination with other treatments.  相似文献

We study monomial curves, toric ideals and monomial algebras associated to 4-generated pseudo symmetric numerical semigroups. Namely, we determine indispensable binomials of these toric ideals, give a characterization for these monomial algebras to have strongly indispensable minimal graded free resolutions. Centri-voltammetry is a method for concentrating an analyte on an electrode with the aid of a centrifuge. It can be performed in the presence or the absence of a solid carrier/support. This is followed by a voltammetric (analytical) scan. Specifically, we describe here an application of the technique to the determination of glutathione (GSH). Silica gel is used as the carrier precipitate to which gold nanoparticles were added in order to improve accumulation as a result of their strong affinity for thiols. Voltammetry was performed with a carbon paste electrode modified with multi-wall carbon nanotubes. The response to GSH is linear in the 25 and 800 μM concentration range (the correlation coefficient being 0.9915) and the relative standard deviation is 3.40 % (at 250 μM of GSH and n?=?6). The procedure was successfully applied to the determination of GSH in wine and in synthetic plasma using the standard addition method. The recoveries are 100.8 % and 100.0 %, respectively.

Solid sampling high resolution continuum source molecule absorption spectrometry (SS-HR-CS MAS) was applied for the determination of chlorine in plastic using the strontium monochloride (SrCl) molecule. For this purpose, 10?µL of 20?g L?1 strontium (prepared from Sr(NO3)2) solution were pipetted with aqueous Cl standards or 0.05 to 4?mg of slivered plastic samples on a platform and introduced into the furnace. Chlorine was determined with the molecular absorption of SrCl at 635.862?nm using 1100?°C and 2200?°C for the pyrolysis and vaporization temperatures, respectively. Aqueous standards were used for calibration. The accuracy of the method was evaluated using a certified polyethylene reference material. The limit of detection and characteristic mass values of the method were 2.5?ng and 0.4?ng, respectively. The chlorine concentrations in various polyethylene beverage containers were determined.  相似文献

Polyimides incorporating the ferrocene unit were prepared by in situ curing of poly (amic acid) macromolecules with ferrocene, for the molecular-level design of low dielectric constant (low-κ) materials. The effects of ferrocene on dielectric properties of polyimide are investigated in detail in this study. Ferrocene containing polyimides exhibit a number of desirable properties including low-water absorption and admirable thermal stability. Systematic studies demonstrate that proper insertion of ferrocene into a polyimide backbone can give rise to a reduction in the material's dielectric constant. All composites were subjected to DSC measurements for the purpose of examining Tg from all composition. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and the other conventional techniques were used for structural characterization.  相似文献
