It is shown by field ionization kinetics in combination with both site-specific and stereospecific D-labelling that the loss of a molecule of methanol from the molecular ion of methoxycyclohexane can occur via 1,4- and 1,3-eliminations. The 1,4-elimination predominates at molecular ion lifetimes of ≥10?10.1 s. It is found that ~19% of this reaction channel corresponds to a stereospecific cis-elimination, whereas the remaining 81% is only site-specific. At molecular ion lifetimes of between 10?10 and 10?9 s, a very sudden increase of the 1,3-elimination is observed at the expense of the 1,4-elimination. A stereospecific loss of methanol, however, is not observed at all for the 1,3-elimination within the limits of error. Possible intermediates and reaction pathways, which can account for the observations made, are discussed. 相似文献

This paper studies a system of parallel service facilities or processors with mixed exponential and non-exponential queues, a non-exponential finite source input and interdependent arrival as well as departure blocking such as due to a common pool or shared resource. A concrete invariance condition upon the blocking protocol is provided. Under this condition the stationary busy source distribution is shown to be of an insensitive product form. Calcineurin (Cn) is the target of immunosuppressive drugs used for maintenance therapy of transplant patients. UV radiation is also known to be immunosuppressive and, like the Cn inhibitors, UV has been shown to positively influence various inflammatory skin diseases. Recently, Cn activity has been demonstrated in skin and skin cell cultures. In the present study we have investigated the effects of UV(A-1) irradiation on Cn activity in skin. In total skin we found a significant reduction in Cn activity after exposure to 450 kJ m−2 of UVA-1 (340–400 nm). In repeated experiments cultures of fibroblasts and keratinocytes also showed dose-dependent and selective reduction in Cn activity after UVA-1 irradiation. UVB irradiation caused a decrease in the Cn activity of one of two fibroblast cultures and was ineffective in keratinocytes. In Jurkat cells and PBMC UVA-1 reduced Cn activity and also the production of cytokines such as interleukin (IL)-2, γ-interferon, IL-4 and IL-10 that are controlled by the Ca2+–Cn pathway. These results indicate that UV(A-1) irradiation may lead to inactivation of Cn in the skin and thus suppress the skin immune system in a similar fashion to the Cn inhibitors. 相似文献

The investigation of solution‐borne nanostructures by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) is a frequently used analytical method in materials chemistry. In many cases, the preparation of the TEM sample involves drying and staining steps, and the collection of images leads to the interaction of the specimen with the electron beam. Both aspects call for cautious interpretation of the resulting electron micrographs. Alternatively, a near‐native solvated state can be preserved by cryogenic vitrification and subsequent imaging by low‐dose cryogenic TEM. In this Minireview, we provide a critical analysis of sample preparation, and more importantly, of the acquisition and interpretation of electron micrographs. This overview should provide a framework for the application of (cryo)‐TEM as a powerful and reliable tool for the analysis of colloidal and self‐assembled structures with nanoscopic dimensions. 相似文献

Suspensions of commercial refined beech pulp (RBP) were further processed through mechanical disintegration (MD-RBP), chemical
modification (CM-RBP) and through chemical modification followed by mechanical disintegration (CM-MD-RBP). Nanocomposites
were prepared by compounding a poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) latex adhesive with increasing contents of the different types of
nanofibrils, and the resulting nanocomposites were analyzed by dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). Also, the suitability of
using the CM-RBP fibrils to formulate PVAc adhesives for wood bonded assemblies with improved heat resistance was studied.
The presence of cellulose nanofibrils had a strong influence on the viscoelastic properties of PVAc latex films. For all nanocomposites,
increasing amounts of cellulose nanofibrils (treated or untreated) led to increasing reinforcing effects in the glassy state,
but especially in the PVAc and PVOH glass transitions. This reinforcement primarily resulted from interactions between the
cellulose fibrils network and the hydrophilic PVOH matrix that led to the complete disappearance of the PVOH glass transition
(tan δ peak) for some fibril types and contents. At any given concentration in the PVOH transition, the CM-MD-RBP nanofibrils
provided the highest reinforcement, followed by the MD-RBP, CM-RBP and the untreated RBP. Finally, the use of the CM-RBP fibrils
to prepare PVAc reinforced adhesives for wood bonding was promising since, even though they generally performed worse in dry
and wet conditions, the boards showed superior heat resistance (EN 14257) and passed the test for durability class D1. 相似文献

Oscillating phospholipid-coated ultrasound contrast agent microbubbles display a so-called "compression-only" behavior, where it is observed that the bubbles compress efficiently while their expansion is suppressed. Here, a theoretical understanding of the source of this nonlinear behavior is provided through a weakly nonlinear analysis of the shell buckling model proposed by Marmottant et al. [J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 118, 3499-3505 (2005)]. It is shown that the radial dynamics of the bubble can be considered as a superposition of a linear response at the fundamental driving frequency and a second-order nonlinear low-frequency response that describes the negative offset of the mean bubble radius. The analytical solution deduced from the weakly nonlinear analysis shows that the compression-only behavior results from a rapid change of the shell elasticity with bubble radius. In addition, the radial dynamics of single phospholipid-coated microbubbles was recorded as a function of both the amplitude and the frequency of the driving pressure pulse. The comparison between the experimental data and the theory shows that the magnitude of compression-only behavior is mainly determined by the initial phospholipids concentration on the bubble surface, which slightly varies from bubble to bubble. 相似文献

The generalized Marcum functions appear in problems of technical and scientific areas such as, for example, radar detection and communications. In mathematical statistics and probability theory these functions are called the noncentral gamma or the noncentral chi‐squared cumulative distribution functions. In this paper, we describe a new asymptotic method for inverting the generalized Marcum Q‐function and for the complementary Marcum P‐function. Also, we show how monotonicity and convexity properties of these functions can be used to find initial values for reliable Newton or secant methods to invert the function. We present details of numerical computations that show the reliability of the asymptotic approximations. 相似文献

4‐Hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase is a relevant target in both pharmaceutical and agricultural research. We report on molecular dynamics simulations and free energy calculations on this enzyme, in complex with 12 inhibitors for which experimental affinities were determined. We applied the thermodynamic integration approach and the more efficient one‐step perturbation. Even though simulations seem well converged and both methods show excellent agreement between them, the correlation with the experimental values remains poor. We investigate the effect of slight modifications on the charge distribution of these highly conjugated systems and find that accurate models can be obtained when using improved force field parameters.
