We investigate the cyclic mechanical behavior in uniaxial tension of three different commercial thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers (TPU) often considered as a sustainable replacement for common filled elastomers. All TPU have similar hard segment contents and linear moduli but sensibly different large strain properties as shown by X-ray analysis. Despite these differences, we found a stiffening effect after conditioning in step cyclic loading which greatly differs from the common softening (also referred as Mullins effect) observed in chemically crosslinked filled rubbers. We propose that this self-reinforcement is related to the fragmentation of hard domains, naturally present in TPU, in smaller but more numerous sub-units that may act as new physical crosslinking points. The proposed stiffening mechanism is not dissimilar to the strain-induced crystallization observed in stretched natural rubber, but it presents a persistent nature. In particular, it may cause a local reinforcement where an inhomogeneous strain field is present, as is the case of a crack propagating in cyclic fatigue, providing a potential explanation for the well-known toughness and wear resistance of TPU.  相似文献

This research presents a novel methodology for deriving the total daily broadband solar UVA (320–400 nm) received by school teachers during their working day from Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) satellite solar noon UVA irradiance measurements for a Queensland subtropical site (27.5°S, 152°E). Daily UVA exposures are weighted to the anatomical human cheek (anterior infra‐orbital region) for teachers wearing and not wearing broad‐brimmed hats. The method utilizes the OMI UVA irradiance data collected daily at high temporal resolution over 2005 to 2016 to derive the total daily UVA exposure to a horizontal plane. These horizontal plane exposures are scaled by factors to take into account the timing of outdoor activity. The relationship between exposures to a horizontal plane and those to a vertical plane and the protection provided by a broad‐brimmed hat was assessed to evaluate the total daily UVA exposures to the cheek for classroom and physical education teaching staff expected to be outside at different periods of the day. The developed method enables the total daily UVA exposure to specific anatomical sites to be evaluated from the satellite solar noon irradiance at locations that do not have access to surface‐based instrumentation capable of recording in the solar UVA waveband.  相似文献

Shortwave infrared (SWIR) dyes are characterized by their ability to absorb light from 900 to 1400 nm, which is ideal for deep tissue imaging owing to minimized light scattering and interference from endogenous pigments. An approach to access such molecules is to tune the photophysical properties of known near-infrared dyes. Herein, we report the development of a series of easily accessible (three steps) SWIR xanthene dyes based on a dibenzazepine donor conjugated to thiophene ( SCR-1 ), thienothiophene ( SCR-2 ), or bithiophene ( SCR-3 ). We leverage the fact that SCR-1 undergoes a bathochromic shift when aggregated for in vivo studies by developing a ratiometric nanoparticle for NO ( rNP-NO ), which we employed to successfully visualize pathological levels of nitric oxide in a drug-induced liver injury model via deep tissue SWIR photoacoustic (PA) imaging. Our work demonstrates how easily this dye series can be utilized as a component in nanosensor designs for imaging studies.  相似文献

The process of obtaining sequential resonance assignments for heterogeneous polypeptides and large proteins by solid-state NMR (ssNMR) is impeded by extensive spectral degeneracy in these systems. Even in these challenging cases, the cross peaks are not distributed uniformly over the entire spectral width. Instead, there exist both well-resolved single resonances and distinct groups of resonances well separated from the most crowded region of the spectrum. Here, we present a series of new triple resonance experiments that exploit the non-uniform clustering of resonances in heteronuclear correlation spectra to obtain additional resolution in the more crowded regions of a spectrum. Homonuclear and heteronuclear dipolar recoupling sequences are arranged to achieve directional transfer of coherence between neighboring residues in the peptide sequence. A frequency-selective (soft) pulse is applied to select initial polarization from a limited (and potentially) well-resolved region of the spectrum. The pre-existing resolution of one or more spins is thus utilized to obtain additional resolution in the more crowded regions of the spectrum. A new protocol to utilize these experiments for sequential resonance assignments in peptides and proteins is also demonstrated.  相似文献

The low temperature crystal structures of ester and ether derivatives of varying electron demand, derived from cyclopropylmethanol and dicyclopropylmethanol , have been determined. These structures show a very strong response of the C-OR bond distance to the electron demand of the OR substituent, demonstrating the strong sigma-donor ability of the strained C-C bonds in the cyclopropane ring.  相似文献

A novel mode-locking technique is presented in which the intensity-dependent spatial coupling dynamics of a waveguide array is used to achieve temporal mode-locking in a passive optical fiber laser. By use of the discrete, nearest-neighbor spatial coupling of the waveguide array, low-intensity light can be transferred to the neighboring waveguides and ejected (attenuated) from the laser cavity. In contrast, higher-intensity light is self-focused in the waveguide and remains largely unaffected. Numerical studies of this pulse shaping mechanism (intensity discrimination) show that using current waveguide arrays and standard optical fiber technology produces stable and robust mode-locked soliton-like pulses.  相似文献
