Selective separation of pyrite and galena from mixture of the two minerals was achieved through interaction with cells and metabolic products from a culture of Paenibacillus polymyxa. Adsorption of cells and metabolic products onto minerals and electrokinetic studies of minerals after interaction with cells and metabolic products were carried out to examine the resulting surface modification on the mineral surfaces. Flocculation and flotation techniques were successfully applied in the selective separation of minerals after bacterial interaction. The effect of varying conditions for production of extracellular polysaccharides and protein provided an insight into the possible mechanism involved in microbially induced flocculation and flotation of pyrite and galena.  相似文献

This investigation is concerned with modeling the evaporation, or decay, of n-nonane molecular clusters. We use a unique cluster decay model that was first developed to estimate the decay time scale of argon clusters using molecular-dynamics simulations. In this study we seek to enhance the model so that it represents a more complex cluster decay dynamic, suitable for n-nonane clusters. Experimental measurements of nucleation rates of n-nonane droplets have been used to deduce the rate at which a molecule escapes from the cluster. Typically for an n-nonane cluster containing 40 molecules, at an experimental temperature of 225 K, the empirical decay time, which is the inverse of the decay rate, is estimated to be 50 ns. For this time scale, the direct observation of n-nonane cluster decay from a molecular-dynamics trajectory is not feasible, since decay events are so rare. However, the cluster decay model uses a combination of molecular dynamics and stochastic dynamics in order to resolve the problem associated with long decay time scales. The model is based on a Langevin treatment that views cluster decay as single-particle escape from a confining potential of mean force. It is used to predict kinetic decay times of n-nonane clusters. We discover this result differs significantly from a classically derived decay time scale determined from a continuum thermodynamic treatment of the population balance equations of clusters. However, the dynamically generated results obtained from the kinetic decay model compare more favorably than the classical results with the empirical decay times that are deduced from experimental measurements of n-nonane clusters.  相似文献

The synthesis of two conformationally constrained lysine analogues is reported. The synthesis of the novel analogue 1 based on the 3-aza-bicyclo[3.1.0]hexane system is accomplished from the known tricycle 3 in eight steps. The synthesis of the analogue 2 is accomplished in eight steps from 4-hydroxy proline. Both analogues are synthesized appropriately protected for Fmoc/Boc solid-phase peptide synthesis.  相似文献

Oxo(salen)chromium(V) complexes, [(salen)CrVO]+, oxidize organic sulfides selectively to sulfoxides in high yield. This oxygenation reaction is catalyzed by ligand oxides (LO's), pyridine N-oxide, 4-picoline N-oxide, 4-phenyl pyridine N-oxide and triphenylphosphine oxide. The rate is accelerated by 10-20 times with an increase in yield of sulfoxide in less reaction time. This catalytic activity is highly sensitive to the nature of the substituent in the phenyl ring of ArSMe and in the 3- and 5-position of the salen ligand. The reaction constant (ρ) value obtained with the ligand oxide catalyzed reaction is low compared to the value in the absence of LO. The strong binding and catalytic activity of ligand oxides on the oxo(salen)chromium(V) ion oxygenation is explained in terms of binding constants and a mechanism involving the electrophilic attack of [(salen)CrVO]+-LO adduct on the sulfur centre of phenyl methyl sulfide.  相似文献

Strong blue-green light emitting Eu doped SrAl2O4 phosphor was synthesized by a low-temperature initiated, self-propagating and gas producing combustion process in a very short time (<5 min). The prepared powder was characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectrometry and scanning electron microscopy. The excitation spectrum shows a peak at 397 nm. Upon excitation at 397 nm, the emission spectrum exhibits a well defined broad band with maximum at 493 nm corresponding to 4f65d  4f7 transition. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) measurements at X-band showed low field signals due to Eu2+ ions in SrAl2O4:Eu.  相似文献

One pot synthesis of three structurally different Ni(II) thiosemicarbazone complexes 1, 2 and 3 were obtained from the reaction between [NiCl(2)(PPh(3))(2)], 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane, and [H(2)-(Sal-tsc)]. The obtained products were characterized by various spectral and analytical techniques. From the X-ray crystallographic analysis, an unexpected N-arylation on the coordinated salicylaldehydethiosemicarbazone was found in complex 2. The comparative biological evolutions such as DNA/protein binding, antioxidant, cytotoxicity (MTT, LDH, and NO) and cellular uptake studies have been examined for [Ni(Sal-tsc)(PPh(3))] (1) and [(Ni(Sal-tsc))(2)(μ-dppe)] (3). When comparing the cytotoxicity of the complexes, 1 exhibited higher activity than 2 and 3 and by comparing with standard cis-platin, both of them were found to exhibit better activity under identical conditions.  相似文献

A porous metal–organic framework, Mn(H3O)[(Mn4Cl)3(hmtt)8] (POST‐65), was prepared by the reaction of 5,5′,10,10′,15,15′‐hexamethyltruxene‐2,7,12‐tricarboxylic acid (H3hmtt) with MnCl2 under solvothermal conditions. POST‐65(Mn) was subjected to post‐synthetic modification with Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu according to an ion‐exchange method that resulted in the formation of three isomorphous frameworks, POST‐65(Co/Ni/Cu), as well as a new framework, POST‐65(Fe). The ion‐exchanged samples could not be prepared by regular solvothermal reactions. The complete exchange of the metal ions and retention of the framework structure were verified by inductively coupled plasma–atomic emission spectrometry (ICP‐AES), powder X‐ray diffraction (PXRD), and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface‐area analysis. Single‐crystal X‐ray diffractions studies revealed a single‐crystal‐to‐single‐crystal (SCSC)‐transformation nature of the ion‐exchange process. Hydrogen‐sorption and magnetization measurements showed metal‐specific properties of POST‐65.  相似文献

Multivalent single chain variable fragments (scFv) show increased affinity to tumor-associated antigens compared to monovalent scFv and intact monoclonal antibodies (mAb). Multivalent constructs can be derived from self-associating or covalent scFv with covalent constructs offering improved in vivo and in vitro stability. Covalent attachment of scFv can be achieved using genetically engineered expression vectors that afford scFv with site specific cysteine functionality. Expression vectors for di-scFv-C wherein the cysteine is located in the center of two scFv have also been developed for attaching chemically reactive linkers. In the example illustrated here, the di-scFv-C is derived from a mAb directed against the MUC1 epitope, which is presented on cancer cells. To achieve multivalency, a chemical crosslinking strategy utilizing various azide and multi-alkyne functionalized polyethylene glycol (PEG) linkers was implemented. Conjugation was achieved by attachment of these linkers to the scFv thiol functionality. Chemoselective ligation was employed to covalently link different protein conjugates via copper(I) catalyzed azide alkyne 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction (CuAAC) chemistry. Ligations were achieved in >70% yield using a specific set of linkers as determined by SDS-PAGE and densitometry. ELISA showed increased tumor binding of a tetravalent scFv providing a versatile chemical crosslinking strategy for construction of multivalent and bi-specific immunoconjugates that retain biological activity and have potential application in pre-targeted radioimmunotherapy and imaging.  相似文献
