Point-of-care diagnostics requires a smart separation of particles and/or cells. In this work, the multiorifice fluid fractionation as a passive method and dielectrophoresis-based actuator as an active tool are combined to offer a new device for size-based particle separation. The main objective of the combination of these two well-established techniques is to improve the performance of the multiorifice fluid fractionation by taking advantage of dielectrophoresis-based actuator for separating particles. Initially, by using numerical simulations, the effect of using dielectrophoresis-based actuator in multiorifice fluid fractionation on the separation of particles was investigated, and the size of the device was optimized by 25% compared to a device without dielectrophoresis-based actuator. Also, adding dielectrophoresis-based actuator to multiorifice fluid fractionation can extend the range of flow rates needed for separation. In the absence of dielectrophoresis-based actuator, the separation took place only when the flow rate is 100 μL/min, in the presence of dielectrophoresis-based actuator (20 Vp-p), the separation happened in flow rates ranging from 70 to 120 μL/min. 相似文献

Nitrogen doping of vertically aligned carbon nanotubes (VACNTs) using plasma-enhanced chemical vapour deposition has been investigated to improve the supercapacitance performance of CNTs. Incorporating electrochemical measurements on the open-ended nitrogen-doped CNTs, showed the achievement of 6 times improvement in the capacitance value. For nitrogen-doped CNTs on silicon substrate, specific capacitance of 60 F g?1 was obtained in 0.5 M KCl solution, with capacity retention ratio above 90 % after cycled at 0.1 A g?1 for 5000 cycles. Using this sample, a symmetric supercapacitance was fabricated which showed the power density of 37.5 kW kg?1. The facile fabrication approach and its excellent capacitance improvement, propose it as an efficient technique for enhancing the supercapacitance performance of the carbon-based electrodes. 相似文献

Excitation functions and theoretical yields via charge particle induced reactions were evaluated using EMPIRE-3.2.2 and ALICE/ASH codes and the obtained results have been discussed and compared with the available reported experimental data. It has been verified that natCu(p,n)65Zn reaction is the optimum 65Zn production route. The 65Zn was produced using natCu(p,xn) 65Zn reaction in the energy range of 16.8 → 12.2 MeV with the thick target yield of 0.15 ± 0.005 MBq/μA h. The 65Zn radionuclide was purified by anion exchange chromatography.

An evaluation of the physical interactions between gemini surfactants, DNA, and 1,2-dialkyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine helper lipid is presented in this work. Complexation between gemini surfactants and DNA was first investigated using surface tensiometry where the surface tension profiles obtained were found to be consistent with those typically observed for mixed surfactant-polymer systems; that is, there is a synergistic lowering of the surface tension, followed by a first (CAC) and second (CMC) break point in the plot. The surfactant alkyl tail length was observed to exhibit a significant effect on the CAC, thus demonstrating the importance of hydrophobic interactions during complexation between gemini surfactants and DNA. The second study presented is an investigation of the mixing interactions between gemini surfactants and DOPE using Clint's, Rubingh's, and Motomura's theories for mixed micellar formation. The mixing interactions between the 16-3-16/16-7-16/16-12-16/16-7NH-16 gemini surfactants and DOPE were observed to be antagonistic, where the strength of antagonism was found to be dependent upon the gemini surfactant spacer group and the solution composition. 相似文献

The catalytic activity of l ‐arginine‐coated nano‐Fe3O4 particles (Fe3O4@l ‐arginine) proves they are a novel magnetic catalyst without the use of heat and reflux for the synthesis of 1,3‐diaryl‐2‐N‐azaphenalene derivatives and n‐acyl‐1,3‐diaryl‐2‐N‐azaphenylene derivatives in a one‐pot pseudo‐five‐component condensation reaction of compounds of 2,7‐naphthalene diol, aldehydes, and ammonia derivatives (ammonium acetate or ammonium hydrogen phosphate) and solvent (water and alcohol) with high yield and short reaction times, economical, and simple workup. The structure and magnetic properties of the obtained nanoparticles were characterized via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (IR) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE‐SEM). The results demonstrated that the average size of the synthesized magnetite nanoparticles is about 21 nm. In addition, the heterogeneous catalyst can be easily recovered magnetically and can be reused for further runs without significant loss of its catalytic activity. 相似文献

In this article, a novel chemiluminescence method using water-soluble CdS quantum dots (QDs) as sensitizers is proposed for the chemiluminometric determination of epinephrine. The method is based on the quenching effect of epinephrine on the chemiluminescence emission generated by the mixing of CdS quantum dots (QDs) with hydrogen carbonate (HCO3 -) in the presence of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in an alkaline medium. The optimization of variables influencing the chemiluminescence response of the method has been carried out by using experimental design. Under the optimal conditions, there is good linear relationship between the relative chemiluminescence intensity and the concentration of epinephrine over the range of 5?×?10?9–1?×?10?6?molL?1 with a 3σ detection limit of 5?×?10?11?molL?1. The method has been successfully applied to the determination of epinephrine in pharmaceutical formulation and the recovery test was done in human urine. 相似文献
