The objective of this study was to evaluate antiproliferative activity, antioxidant capacity and tannin content in plants from semi-arid northeastern Brazil (Caatinga). For this study, we selected 14 species and we assayed the methanol extracts for antiproliferative activity against the HEp-2 (laryngeal cancer) and NCI-H292 (lung cancer) cell lines using the (3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyltetrazole) (MTT) method. In addition, the antioxidant activity was evaluated with the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) assay, and the tannin content was determined by the radial diffusion method. Plants with better antioxidant activity (expressed in a dose able to decrease the initial DPPH concentration by 50%, or IC50) and with higher levels of tannins were: Poincianella pyramidalis (42.95±1.77 μg/mL IC50 and 8.17±0.64 tannin content), Jatropha mollissima (54.09±4.36μg/mL IC50 and 2.35±0.08 tannin content) and Anadenanthera colubrina (73.24±1.47 μg/mL IC50 and 4.41±0.47 tannin content). Plants with enhanced antiproliferative activity (% living cells) were Annona muricata (24.94±0.74 in NCI-H292), Lantana camara (25.8±0.19 in NCI-H292), Handroanthus impetiginosus (41.8±0.47 in NCI-H292) and Mentzelia aspera (45.61±1.94 in HEp-2). For species with better antioxidant and antiproliferative activities, we suggest future in vitro and in vivo comparative studies with other pharmacological models, and to start a process of purification and identification of the possible molecule(s) responsible for the observed pharmacological activity. We believe that the flora of Brazilian semi-arid areas can be a valuable source of plants rich in tannins, cytotoxic compounds and antioxidant agents.  相似文献

Isomorphously substituted (MeDM) and impregnated metal-containing MCM-41 (MeOx/IM) catalysts, in which Me = Co, Cu, Cr, Fe or Ni, have been prepared. Structural and textural characterizations of the catalysts were performed by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), chemical analysis, Raman spectroscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), N2 adsorption isotherms and temperature programmed reduction (TPR). Cu2+, Co2+, and Cr4+/Cr3+ species were found over the catalysts as cations incorporated in the MCM-41 structure (MeDM) or highly dispersed oxides on the surface (MeOx/IM). The MeDM catalysts exhibited a good performance in the dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene with CO2. However, MeOx/IM catalysts had a low performance in styrene production (activity less than 15 × 10?3 mmol h?1 and selectivity for styrene less than 80%) due to the high reducibility of the metals species. However, Ni2+ or Fe3+ coordinated with the MCM-41 framework, as well as NiOx and Fe2O3 extra-framework species, is continuously oxidized by the CO2 to maintain the active sites for dehydrogenating ethylbenzene. Deactivation studies on the FeDM sample showed that Fe3+ species produced active sp2 carbon compounds, which are removed by CO2; the referred sample is catalytically selective for styrene and stable over 24 h of reaction. In contrast, highly active Ni2+ and Ni0 species produced a large amount of polyaromatic carbonaceous deposits from styrene, as identified by TPO, TG and Raman spectroscopy. An acid–base mechanism is proposed to operate to adsorb ethylbenzene and abstract the β-hydrogen. CO2 plays a role in furnishing the lattice oxygen to maintain the Fe3+ active sites in the dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene to form styrene.  相似文献

The mechanisms for multimode vibrational couplings in resonant positron annihilation are not well understood. We show that these resonances can arise from positron-induced distortions of the potential energy surface (target response to the positron field). Though these distortions can transfer energy into single- and multiquantum vibrations, they have so far been disregarded as a pathway to resonant annihilation. We also compare the existing annihilation theories and show that the currently accepted model can be cast as a special case of the Feshbach annihilation theory.  相似文献

This article describes a comparison of conventional energy‐dispersive X‐ray fluorescence (EDXRF) and synchrotron radiation total‐reflection X‐ray fluorescence (SRTXRF) for Co determination in ruminal fluid from Holstein cow. This element is used as marker for animal nutrition studies. For EDXRF, 200 µl of the sample were dried on 6.35 µm Mylar film at 60 °C. The excitation was carried out using an X‐ray tube with Mo target and Zr filter operated at 30 kV/20 mA. For SRTXRF, 10 µl of the sample were pipetted on a Lucite carrier and dried at 60 °C. In both the techniques, Ga was used as internal standard and the acquisition time was 200 s. The trueness of both techniques was evaluated through the standard addition method, the recoveries obtained by SRTXRF and EDXRF were 76 and 99%, and the limits of detection, 13 and 240 µg l?1, respectively. We consider a multidimensional diffusion XX with drift coefficient b(α,Xt)b(α,Xt) and diffusion coefficient ?σ(β,Xt)?σ(β,Xt). The diffusion sample path is discretely observed at times tk=kΔtk=kΔ for k=1…nk=1n on a fixed interval [0,T][0,T]. We study minimum contrast estimators derived from the Gaussian process approximating XX for small ??. We obtain consistent and asymptotically normal estimators of αα for fixed ΔΔ and ?→0?0 and of (α,β)(α,β) for Δ→0Δ0 and ?→0?0 without any condition linking ?? and ΔΔ. We compare the estimators obtained with various methods and for various magnitudes of ΔΔ and ?? based on simulation studies. Finally, we investigate the interest of using such methods in an epidemiological framework.  相似文献

We address the question of finding sufficient conditions for existence as well as nonexistence of nonconstant stable stationary solution to the diffusion equation ut=div(a∇u)+f(u)ut=div(au)+f(u) on a surface of revolution with and without boundary. Conditions found relate the diffusivity function a and the geometry of the surface where diffusion takes place. Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy Treatment (IMRT) is a technique used in the treatment of cancer, where the radiation beams are modulated by a multileaf collimator allowing the irradiation of the patient using non-uniform radiation fields from selected angles. Beam angle optimization consists in trying to find the best set of angles that should be used in IMRT planning. The choice of this set of angles is patient and pathology dependent and, in clinical practice, most of the times it is made using a trial and error procedure or simply using equidistantly distributed angles. In this paper we propose a genetic algorithm that aims at calculating good sets of angles in an automated way, given a predetermined number of angles. We consider the discretization of all possible angles in the interval [0 \(^{\circ }\) , 360 \(^{\circ }\) ], and each individual is represented by a chromosome with 360 binary genes. As the calculation of a given individual’s fitness is very expensive in terms of computational time, the genetic algorithm uses a neural network as a surrogate model to calculate the fitness of most of the individuals in the population. To explicitly consider the estimation error that can result from the use of this surrogate model, the fitness of each individual is represented by an interval of values and not by a single crisp value. The genetic algorithm is capable of finding improved solutions, when compared to the usual equidistant solution applied in clinical practice. The genetic algorithm will be described and computational results will be shown.  相似文献

N-Trifluoracyl β-chalcogeno amides and N-perfluoracyl β-thio amide ligands were prepared by a simple and efficient reaction sequence. These new ligands were evaluated in palladium-catalyzed alkylation of rac-(E)-1,3-diphenyl-2-propenyl acetate in the presence of dimethyl malonate and an enantioselectivity of up to 99% was obtained. After catalysis, the fluorous ligand can be easily recovered by liquid–liquid extraction and reused without loss in the activity.  相似文献

In this work, the mineral composition of fresh bovine milk obtained from the milk-producing areas of the Brazilian State of Sergipe was examined. A dry-ashed digestion method and the ICP OES technique were used for the quantification of mineral elements (e.g., Ca, Mg, K, Na, P, Sr and Zn) in 27 samples of milk collected from properties located in milk-producing areas around Nossa Senhora da Glória. The following ranges of values (% m/v) were obtained: 0.063 to 0.117 for Ca; 0.060 to 0.114 for P; 0.024 to 0.064 for Na; and 0.087 to 0.164 for K. The ranges of values (mg L− 1) for the other mineral elements were also found: 0.68 to 1.89 for Sr; 2.46 to 5.73 for Zn; and 54.2 to 109.9 for Mg. Additionally, the exploratory evaluation of the 27 milk samples was performed using principal component analysis (PCA) involving seven variables dealing with the effect of different management systems (conventional and organic) on milk composition. The results show that there are indeed differences between the mineral composition of milk from properties that use organic practices and those that use conventional management practices.  相似文献
