Electron Transitions of Cadmium Oxide

The bands, densities of states, and spectrum of the permittivity ₂ of a CdO crystal have been calculated by the FP–LMTO method. The ₂, ₁, –Im ^–1, and Re ^–1 spectra for the CdO crystal in the range 1–30 eV have been obtained on the basis of the experimental spectrum of reflection. The spectra were decomposed into elementary components and their main parameters were calculated. The obtained spectrum of the transverse components was compared with the theoretical spectrum of ₂.     

First-principles calculations of the electronic and spatial structures of the Ba<Subscript>1−<Emphasis Type="Italic">x</Emphasis></Subscript>La<Subscript>x</Subscript>F<Subscript>2+<Emphasis Type="Italic">x</Emphasis></Subscript> system within the supercell model

The electronic and spatial structures of the La impurity in BaF₂ are investigated using the ab initio method of linear combinations of atomic orbitals based on the Hartree-Fock approximation in the supercell model. Calculations are performed using the CRYSTAL-98 software package. Possible models of defects are discussed. The MOLSTAT computer code is employed to estimate the energies of formation of defects and their parameters. The influence of defects on the BaF₂ band structure is analyzed.

Problems of theory and practical use of a laser doppler velocimeter in the investigation of turbulent flows

At present great attention is being devoted to the development of laser Doppler velocimeters (LDV) for experimental investigation of turbulent flows. The main types of optical schemes of LDV are discussed in this article. Formulas for the output signal of the photoreceiver and the results of spectral analysis of this signal with the statistics of the scattering centers taken into consideration are presented. The uncertainty relation for the spatial resolution and the width of the Doppler spectrum is obtained. The optical scheme of a three-component velocimeter and the block diagram of its electronic part are given.
