The dynamics of neurons is characterized by a variety of different spiking patterns in response to external stimuli. One of the most important transitions in neuronal response patterns is the transition from tonic firing to burst discharges, i.e., when the neuronal activity changes from single spikes to the grouping of spikes. An increased number of interspike-interval sequences of specific temporal correlations was detected in anticipation of temperature induced tonic-to-bursting transitions in both, experimental impulse recordings from hypothalamic brain slices and numerical simulations of a stochastic model. Analysis of the modelling data elucidates that the appearance of such patterns can be related to particular system dynamics in the vicinity of the period-doubling bifurcation. It leads to a nonlinear response on de- and hyperpolarizing perturbations introduced by noise. This explains why such particular patterns can be found as reliable precursors of the neurons' transition to burst discharges.  相似文献

This study aims to determine the activation contamination in the metal-based ionization chambers, i.e. Mg(Ar)- and Al(Ar)-chambers. The contamination was estimated by directly measuring the signal caused by the radioactive nuclides after the irradiation. The INAA gamma ray spectra clearly showed that the ionization chambers were activated. The activation contamination could comprise more than 2% of the total measured current of the Mg(Ar)-chamber, and more than 50% of the Al(Ar)-chamber, both irradiated free-in-air at the THOR epithermal neutron beam. The activation contamination provides concrete evidence of the necessity of the thermal neutron sensitivity correction.  相似文献

This study is a part of the beam comparison campaign, inter-center dose comparison, between boron neutron capture therapy facilities at the Tsing Hua Open-pool Reactor and the High Flux Reactor. The clinical information exchange can improve the dosimetry uncertainty for medical physics in a mixed field. The method of paired Mg(Ar) and TE(TE) ionization chambers was used to determine the gamma-ray and neutron dose rates. Furthermore, activation foils, including gold, copper, and manganese, were employed to estimate the thermal and epithermal neutron fluxes. Measurements were performed free in air and also in a PMMA phantom. All the chambers were calibrated using a 60Co primary standard source at the Institute of Nuclear Energy Research, Taiwan. Spectrum dependent neutron sensitivity of TE(TE) chamber is one of the important parameters to evaluate dose components. The requested neutron spectra were calculated by the Monte Carlo code MCNP. The measured thermal neutron fluxes, gamma-ray and neutron dose rates of the THOR beam in the phantom were 2.6, 2.2, and 2.1 times of the HFR beam at 2.5-cm depth, respectively. The higher thermal neutron flux and neutron and gamma-ray dose rates are due to the higher epithermal neutron beam intensity of the THOR.  相似文献

In the present work, an attempt has been made to assess the bioconcentration and distribution of zinc on the selected organs of Labeo rohita and to study the effect of zinc exposure on the biochemical constitutions of gill tissues of L. rohita by using FT-IR Spectroscopy. The concentration pattern in the organs reveals that the liver is the prime site of metal binding and muscle accumulates least metal concentration. The accumulation profile is in the order: liver > gill > kidney > brain > bone > muscle. It has also been observed that the administration of chelating agent d-Penicillamine (DPA) reduces the zinc concentration in all tissues more effectively than the administration of the chelating agent Ethylene Diamine Tetra Acetic acid. The FT-IR spectra reveal that zinc exposure causes significant changes in the biochemical constitutions of the gill tissues. It causes an alteration in the protein secondary structures by decreasing the α-helix and increasing the β-sheet contents. Further, it has been observed that the administration of chelating agent DPA improves the protein and lipid contents in the gill tissues compared to zinc exposed tissues. This result shows that DPA is the effective chelator of zinc in reducing the body burden of L. rohita fingerlings. In conclusion, the findings of the current study suggest that zinc exposure causes significant changes in both lipids and proteins of the gill tissues, and changes the protein profile in favour of β-sheet structure.  相似文献

In the absence of new physics around \(10^{10}\) GeV, the electroweak vacuum is at best metastable. This represents a major challenge for high scale inflationary models as, during the early rapid expansion of the universe, it seems difficult to understand how the Higgs vacuum would not decay to the true lower vacuum of the theory with catastrophic consequences if inflation took place at a scale above \(10^{10}\) GeV. In this paper we show that the non-minimal coupling of the Higgs boson to curvature could solve this problem by generating a direct coupling of the Higgs boson to the inflationary potential thereby stabilizing the electroweak vacuum. For specific values of the Higgs field initial condition and of its non-minimal coupling, inflation can drive the Higgs field to the electroweak vacuum quickly during inflation.  相似文献
