The direct current (DC) arc plasma has been assessed with an emphasis on excitation temperature (T exe) and ionization/excitation efficiency by monitoring magnesium ionic:atomic ratios (Mg II:I). The primary goal is to improve the analytical performance of the DC arc instrumentation such that more sensitive and reproducible measurements can be achieved when analyzing trace impurities in nuclear materials. Due to the variety of sample types requiring DC arc analysis, an understanding of the plasma’s characteristics will significantly benefit the experimental design when moving forward with LANL’s capabilities for trace metal analysis of plutonium metals.

Vecuronium bromide is a neuromuscular blocking agent used for anesthesia to induce skeletal muscle relaxation. HPLC and CZE analytical methods were developed and validated for the quantitative determination of vecuronium bromide. The HPLC method was achieved on an amino column (Luna 150 × 4.6 mm, 5 μm) using UV detection at 205 nm. The mobile phase was composed of acetonitrile:water containing 25.0 mmol L?1 of sodium phosphate monobasic (50:50 v/v), pH 4.6 and flow rate of 1.0 mL min?1. The CZE method was achieved on an uncoated fused-silica capillary (40.0 cm total length, 31.5 cm effective length and 50 μm i.d.) using indirect UV detection at 230 nm. The electrolyte comprised 1.0 mmol L?1 of quinine sulfate dihydrate at pH 3.3 and 8.0% of acetonitrile. The results were used to compare both techniques. No significant differences were observed (p > 0.05).  相似文献

In this work, a systematic study of physical characterization on a series of commercial polyolefinic thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs), is reported. Formulations from different manufacturers, having a wide range of Shore hardness values (from A45 to D51), were examined using simple, inexpensive and standard laboratory methods. From this analysis, the TPE chemical composition and its relationship with hardness and tensile set—the key parameters that define the TPE performance in most of the applications—could be established.

It was found that the strategy followed by the manufacturers to design TPEs is very similar. The EPDMs used for the different formulations look similar in ethylene content and thermal properties. Therefore, the TPE bulk modulus (or hardness) is mainly controlled by the PP content. Nice elastomeric behavior was observed only in grades with a dominant proportion of EPDM, in agreement with the deformation mechanism generally accepted for this type of materials. Grades with higher hardness values—and a dominant proportion of PP—showed a mechanical response corresponding to a toughened thermoplastic, even when these grades are marketed by the producers as “thermoplastic elastomers”. Differently from conventional crosslinked elastomers, where hardness and ability to recover from highly deformed states can be simultaneously controlled by changing the degree of crosslinking, the results of this work indicate that it is very difficult to increase TPE hardness without sacrificing elastomeric properties.  相似文献

Water-insoluble alkynyl-triphosphine tetranuclear Au(I) complexes containing ferrocenyl motifs, [Au4(C2R)2{(PPh2CH)2PPh}2](PF6)2 (L1, R?=?Fc; L2, R?=?C6H4Fc) produce, in contact with aqueous electrolytes, anion-assisted reversible solid-state oxidation/reduction reactions in voltammetry and a pure anion transfer reaction determining the open circuit potential in potentiometric measurements. The mid-peak potentials determined in voltammetry and the open circuit potential determined in potentiometry exhibit differences, which allow accessing the individual contributions of Gibbs energies of electron and ion transfer. This is the second example of a solid compound where this separation is possible. Monitoring of anion insertion by electron microscopy (field emission scanning microscopy/energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (FESEM/EDX)) experiments is reported.  相似文献
