Neutron binding and excitation energies of some Pb isotopes

The intrinsic quadrupole moment of¹⁷⁶Lu has been determined by Coulomb excitation with α-particles to be 6.98±0.10 b. Evidence for a new level at approximately 578 keV with presumably collective structure is presented.     

High spin states in the transitional odd-odd nuclei150Eu and152Tb

Excited 0+-levels in98Zr

New 0⁺-levels have been identified at 1,436 keV and 1,859 keV in⁹⁸Zr through experiments at the fission product separators OSTIS and JOSEF. Half-lives of these levels of 0.69 ns and 0.24 ns, respectively, have been determined from measurements of delayedβ,γ coincidences.E0 transitions depopulating these 0⁺-levels have been observed. The results are in agreement with the assumption of shape coexistence in⁹⁸Zr.     

Experimental beta-decay energies of short-lived light fission products

The beta-decay energy of 20 nuclides in the mass region 88≦A≦102 has been measured using the on-line mass separator LOHENGRIN. The experimental values obtained are compared with theoretical predictions of different mass formulae.     

Gamma-ray spectroscopy of short-lived fission products using the recoil separator “Lohengrin”

γ-spectra and half-lives of⁹⁰Br,⁹⁵Rb,⁹⁶Rb,⁹⁶Sr,⁹⁶Y,¹³²Sb and¹³²Sn have been measured using the unslowed fission fragment separator “Lohengrin”. Preliminary decay schemes for⁹⁰Kr,⁹⁵Sr,⁹⁶Sr and⁹⁶Y are given.     

Evidence for a rotational band in99Y

The Q value of the¹⁴⁴Sm(^3He,d)¹⁴⁵Eu reaction has been measured relative to Q values of the same reaction on⁹²Mo,¹⁴²Nd, and²⁰⁹ Bi target nuclei with a Q3D spectrograph. The mass excess of¹⁴⁵Eu has been evaluated to be -77989 keV, which is smaller by 53 keV than the mass excess of the 1977 Atomic Mass Evaluation¹).     

Total beta-decay energies of heavy fission products

TheQ _β-value of^144,145Ba,^144,145,147La,^145,147,148Ce and¹⁴⁸Pr has been measured using mass-separated sources produced at the on-line mass separator LOHENGRIN. The experimental values are compared with mass formula predictions.     

Projectile fragments from 86 MeV/nucleon 12C induced reactions

An 86 MeV/nucleon ¹²C beam has been used to bombard targets of C, Ag and Au. Energy spectra of reaction products with Z = 3?6 and A = 6?12 have been measured at angles between 3° and 20°. A simple fragmentation model, while predicting approximately the gross features of the data, fails to describe the results in detail.     

Beta-delayed neutrons and high-energy gamma-rays from decay of137I

Beta-delayed neutrons and high-energyγ-rays following decay of¹³⁷I have been studied in order to characterizeβ-decay to and deexcitation of neutron-unbound levels in¹³⁷Xe. The totalγ-ray intensity observed accounts for at least 20% of theβ-intensity to levels aboveB _n . No evidence was found for neutron andγ-ray emission from the same levels. With the experimentalβ-strength function aboveB _n detailed tests were performed on the reproduction of the experimental neutron spectrum, the level density and Porter-Thomas fluctuations of the reducedβ-transition probabilities to highly excited states in¹³⁷Xe.
