The hydroxyl radical (OH radical) formation rates from the photo-Fenton reaction in river and rain water samples were determined by using deferoxamine mesylate (DFOM), which makes a stable and strong complex with Fe(III), resulting in a suppression of the photo-Fenton reaction. The difference between the OH radical formation rates with and without added DFOM denotes the rate from the photo-Fenton reaction. The photoformation rates from the photo-Fenton reaction were in the range of 0.7 - 45.8 x 10(-12) and 2.7 - 32.3 x 10(-12) M s(-1) in river and rain water samples, respectively. A strong positive correlation between the OH radical formation rate from the photo-Fenton reaction and the amount of fluorescent matter in river water suggests that fluorescent matter, such as humic substances, plays an important role in the photo-Fenton reaction. In rain water, direct photolysis of hydrogen peroxide was an important source of OH radicals as well as the photo-Fenton reaction. The contributions of the photo-Fenton reaction to the OH radical photoformation rates in river and rain water samples were in the ranges of 2 - 29 and 5 - 38%, respectively. Taking into account the photo-Fenton reaction, 33 - 110 (mean: 80) and 42 - 110 (mean: 84)% of OH radical sources in river and rain water samples, respectively, collected in Hiroshima prefecture were elucidated.  相似文献

Emission mechanism in an aromatic polyimide, PI(BPDA/PDA), derived from biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride and p-phenylene diamine were studied with ultraviolet visible absorption and fluorescence spectra of a series of the model compounds. The excitation spectrum of the intermolecular charge-transfer (CT) fluorescence peaking around 550 nm of PI(BPDA/PDA) thin film was completely consistent with the absorption spectrum, indicating that the intermolecular CT fluorescence emission of PI(BPDA/PDA) film is not caused by direct excitation of the CT absorption band, but by light absorption due to structural units in the polymer backbone. The UV-vis. absorption spectra of the model compounds corresponding to the structural units in PI(BPDA/PDA) showed that the longest wavelength absorption band is due to the biphenylbisimide moiety. The band was assigned as π, π* transition with the polarization spectrum of the model compound. The fluorescence spectra of the model compounds changed sensitively depending on the conformation around N-phenyl bond. The lifetime measurement for the model compounds suggested that intramolecular CT process occurs very rapidly. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The Raman spectrum of the phenoxy radical produced duing the course of oxidation of phenol by the Ce(IV) ion was measured by use of a stopped-flow method and a multichannel detection method. Anomalies were found in electrical conductivity and specific heat at the two-step transition in the stoichiometric YFe2O4. Self-assembled InAs quantum dots (QDs) on In0.52Al0.48As layer lattice matched to (1 0 0) InP substrates have been grown by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) and evaluated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and photoluminescence (PL). TEM observations indicate that defect-free InAs QDs can be grown to obtain emissions over the technologically important 1.3–1.55 μm region. The PL peak positions for the QDs shift to low energy as the InAs coverage increases, corresponding to increase in QD size. The room temperature PL peak at 1.58 μm was observed from defect-free InAs QDs with average dot height of 3.6 nm.  相似文献

This paper contains experimental results on partial LTE in the lower excited levels of Ar(I). The experiments were performed in a well-confined argon arc source. The population densities were obtained from self-absorption measurements of the lines. Plasma parameters were determined spectroscopically; measurements included the electron density (from the Hβ line width) and the electron temperature (from the Boltzmann plot for higher excited levels of Ar(I)). The results show that the levels 1s5 to 1s5 are in Saha-Boltzmann equilibrium for electron densities above 3 × 1016 cm-3.  相似文献
