The Complexing Abilities of Diethyleneoxy-and Xylene-bridged Cryptophanes with Alkanes

Abstract

The Syn isomers (3b and 4b) of xylene-bridged cryptophane showed selective complexing abilities for 2,2-dimethylbutane, 3-methylpentane, 3,3-di-methylpentane and 3-ethylpentane among the investigated alkanes, although the Anti isomers (3a,4a,5a) did not complex with these alkanes. However, both the Anti-and Syn-isomers (2a and 2b) of the diethyleneoxy-bridged cryptophane showed selective complexing abilities for 2,2-dimethylbutane, 3,3-dimethylpentane, 2,2,3-trimethylbutane and 2,2,3,3-terramethybutane among the investigated alkanes.     

A validated HPLC‐fluorescence method with a semi‐micro column for routine determination of homocysteine,cysteine and cysteamine,and the relation between the thiol derivatives in normal human plasma

A semi‐micro column HPLC‐fluorescence method for routine determination of thiol derivatives such as homocysteine (Hcy), cysteine (Cys) and cysteamine (CA) is described. The thiol derivatives labeled with ammonium‐7‐fluorobenzo‐2‐oxa‐1,3‐diazole‐4‐sulfonate (SBD‐F) were isocratically separated within 12 min on a semi‐micro ODS column (Daisopak‐SP‐120‐5‐ODS‐BP) with a mixture of 25 mm acetate buffer (pH 2.00) and CH₃CN as a mobile phase. The purity and similarity of SBD‐thiols by a multi‐wavelength fluorescence detector were more than 92.3 and 96.7%. The detection limits of Hcy, Cys and CA at a signal‐to‐noise ratio of 3 were 0.16, 0.47 and 0.03 µm , respectively. Furthermore validation parameters such as accuracy, precision and robustness of the proposed method showed satisfactory results. Almost 850 plasma sample injections (range 572–1076, n = 3) for a column could be performed without differences in retention time and peak heights of labels. As an application of the proposed method, the determination of thiol derivatives in normal human plasma (n = 103) was demonstrated. The correlation coefficients between Hcy vs Cys and Hcy vs CA were 0.38 and −0.35, respectively. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

Investigation of Novel Peptide Chiral Selectors Prepared by Solid-Phase Synthesis with a tert-Butoxycarbonyl Amino Acid

A new class of chiral stationary phases (CSP) with peptide chiral selectors was prepared by solid-phase synthesis with a tert-butoxycarbonyl-L-amino acid on silica. The type of amino acid that is favorable for this class of CSP is discussed. Using the CSP with the phenylalanine peptide selector, the effect of peptide length on the enantioselectivity was investigated in normal-phase mode. The applicability of the CSP with a phenylalanine peptide to chiral ligand-exchange chromatography was also examined.

     

Fisher information metric and Poisson kernels

A complete Riemannian manifold X with negative curvature satisfying −b²?KX?−a²<0 for some constants a,b, is naturally mapped in the space of probability measures on the ideal boundary ∂X by assigning the Poisson kernels. We show that this map is embedding and the pull-back metric of the Fisher information metric by this embedding coincides with the original metric of X up to constant provided X is a rank one symmetric space of non-compact type. Furthermore, we give a geometric meaning of the embedding.     

On global attractor for nonlinear parabolic equations of m-Laplacian type

Existence and some regularity results of global attractor in Lq, q?1, for m-Laplacian type quasilinear parabolic equation with a perturbation like a(x)(α|u|u−β|u|u)+f(x) with α>β?0, a(x)?0 are proved. For the proofs Moser's technique is used extensively.     

Synthesis of graft terpolymers by addition reaction of amino‐terminated polyether to poly(methacrylate)s bearing five‐membered cyclic dithiocarbonate moieties and application of the graft terpolymers as modifiers for wool

Graft terpolymers bearing polyether side chains and poly(methacrylate) stems were synthesized by the graft‐onto reaction of monoamino‐terminated poly(PO₉‐co‐EO₁) to poly{[5‐(methacryloyloxy)methyl‐1,3‐oxathiolane‐2‐thione]‐co‐n‐butyl methacrylate} [poly(DTCMMA‐co‐BuMA)]. The grafting reaction proceeded via the nucleophilic addition of the terminal amino groups to the five‐membered cyclic dithiocarbonate moieties giving thiol moieties, although the grafting efficiency was low (9–34%) due to the steric hindrance of the side chains. The T_g values of the poly{[DTCMMA‐graft‐poly(PO₉‐co‐EO₁)]‐co‐BuMA} ranged 27–47 °C, depending on the amounts of flexible poly(PO₉‐co‐EO₁) chains introduced lowering the T_g values. Poly{[DTCMMA‐graft‐poly(PO₉‐co‐EO₁)]‐co‐BuMA}s bearing thiol groups were applied for the modification of wool via the disulfide exchange reaction. The modified wool had better dye ability toward a pigment from safflower than the original wool owing to the hydrophilic nature of poly{[DTCMMA‐graft‐poly(PO₉‐co‐EO₁)]‐co‐BuMA} introduced. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Synthesis of refractive star‐shaped polysulfide by anionic polymerization of phenoxy propylene sulfide using an initiating system consisting of trifunctional thiol derived from five‐membered cyclic dithiocarbonate and amine

Star‐shaped poly(phenoxy propylene sulfide) [poly (PPS)] were synthesized by anionic polymerization using a trifunctional initiator ( I ₁) derived from a trifunctional five‐membered cyclic dithiocarbonate and benzyl amine. Conditions for the anionic polymerization of PPS were optimized to obtain polymers with desired M_ns and narrow M_w/M_ns. The best catalyst and solvent were DBU and DMF, respectively. The star‐shaped structure of the resulting star poly(PPS) was supported by SEC analysis.
