Extension of the range of resonator scanning spectrometer into submillimeter band and some perspectives of its further developments

Extension of the working frequency of modern resonator spectrometers into submillimeter wave range is described. Experimental record of atmospheric absorption spectrum covering 45-370 GHz range is demonstrated for the first time, and measured water vapor J′_{ka′, kc′}-J_{ka, kc} = 5_1,5-4_2,2 at 325 GHz line parameters are presented. For the first time pressure lineshift for the 325-GHz water vapor line is measured. Further extension of working range is discussed. New estimations of physical limits of time needed for measurements of absorption in the whole Backward Wave Oscillator (BWO) range are given for phase continuous synthesizer regime. Basic schemes of fast broadband continuous phase synthesized sources are discussed. Verification of the previous measurements of water vapor 3_1,3-2_2,0 at 183 GHz line parameters is presented. Comparisons with ringdown resonator spectrometers are given.     

Scalar Perturbations in Inflationary Models Based on the Non-Linear Sigma Model

The inflationary models based on the non-linear sigma model with the self-coupling potential are considered. The slow-roll solutions for long-wavelength inhomogeneities in general two-component chiral models and diagonal three-component chiral model of a special case are obtained. Scalar perturbations are calculated for two examples.     

Ion-beam formation in a vacuum diode

The study considers mass composition and energy and time characteristics of ion beams. Their dependence on anode conditions is demonstrated. The possibility of generating strong ion beams in the spark stage of a vacuum discharge is evaluated.     

Cosmological perturbations in SFT inspired non-local scalar field models

We clearly and consistently supersymmetrize the celebrated horizontality condition to derive the off-shell nilpotent and absolutely anticommuting Becchi?CRouet?CStora?CTyutin (BRST) and anti-BRST symmetry transformations for the supersymmetric system of a free spinning relativistic particle within the framework of superfield approach to BRST formalism. For the precise determination of the proper (anti-)BRST symmetry transformations for all the bosonic and fermionic dynamical variables of our system, we consider the present theory on a (1,2)-dimensional supermanifold parameterized by an even (bosonic) variable (??) and a pair of odd (fermionic) variables ?? and $\bar{\theta}$ (with $\theta^{2} = \bar{\theta}^{2} = 0$ , $\theta\bar{\theta}+ \bar{\theta}\theta= 0$ ) of the Grassmann algebra. One of the most important and novel features of our present investigation is the derivation of (anti-)BRST invariant Curci?CFerrari type restriction which turns out to be responsible for the absolute anticommutativity of the (anti-)BRST transformations and existence of the coupled (but equivalent) Lagrangians for the present theory of a supersymmetric system. These observations are completely new results for this model.     

On the growth of perturbations in interacting dark energy and dark matter fluids

The covariant generalizations of the background dark sector coupling suggested in Mangano, Miele and Pettorino (Mod Phys Lett A 18:831, 2003) are considered. The evolution of perturbations is studied with detailed attention to interaction rate that is proportional to the product of dark matter and dark energy densities. It is shown that some classes of models with coupling of this type do not suffer from early time instabilities in strong coupling regime.     

Synthesis of 2,5-disubstituted 1,3,4-oxadiazoles containing benzothiazolylthiol grouping

A series of 2,5-substituted 1,3,4-oxadiazoles containing 2-benzothiazolylthiomethyl grouping has been synthesized by condensing derivatives of (2-benzothiazolylthio)acetic acid with imino ester hydrochlorides and hydrazides of carboxylic acids, by the cyclodehydration of N-acyl-N-(2-benzothiazolylthioacetyl)hydrazines under the action of POCl, and also by the reaction of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole with 2-chloromethyl-1,3,4-oxadiazoles in the presence of sodium methylate.I. Why magnesium diboride is not described by anisotropic Ginzburg-Landau theory

It is well established that the superconductivity in the recently discovered superconducting compound MgB2 resides in the quasi-two-dimensional band (sigma band) and three-dimensional band (pi band). We demonstrate that, due to such band structure, the anisotropic Ginzburg-Landau theory practically does not have a region of applicability, because gradient expansion in the c direction breaks down. In the case of a dirty pi band, we derive the simplest equations, which describe properties of such superconductors near Tc, and explore some consequences of these equations.     

Optimal generation of single-dispersion precompensated 1-fs pulses by molecular phase modulation

We show how an optimal control approach can be combined with the pump-probe technique for pulse compression by molecular phase modulation in hollow-core fibers to generate single 1-fs pulses in the visible. Varying the intensity and duration of the Gaussian-shaped pump pulse at the input induces optimal rotational response of the molecules. The probe pulse, which scatters off of the resulting time variation of the refractive index, is shaped at the input for optimal compression at the output, including dispersion to all orders.
