Optical transmission systems, using extremely low-loss fibres in the 1.0–1.4m wavelength region are proposed. Possibilities and expected performances are reviewed for optical components in the low-loss band, such as optical oscillators, modulators, detectors, isolators and fibre connectors. Basic considerations for the systems are described. These systems will have advantages such as a reduction in the number of repeaters and in the system costs by expanding the repeater spacing up to several tens of kilometers. Reliability requirements for repeaters, power supply and maintenance problems will be relaxed by accommodating repeaters in stations instead of manholes. 相似文献

A novel series of 4-phenyl-5-pyridyl-1,3-thiazole analogues possessing potent in vitro inhibitory activity against p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase and the release of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) from human monocytic THP-1 cells stimulated by lipopolysaccharide has been identified. Subsequent structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies and optimization for absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination (ADME) profiles led to the identification of compounds 7 g and 10b as orally active lead candidates that block the in vivo production of proinflammatory cytokine (TNF-alpha). In pharmacokinetic studies, compound 10b showed good oral administration in mice and demonstrated significant in vivo anti-inflammatory activity in an anti-collagen monoclonal antibody-induced arthritis mouse model (minimum effective dose (MED)=30 mg/kg). Further elucidation of this class of compounds may provide novel anti-inflammatory agents, such as anti-rheumatoid arthritis drugs. 相似文献

ABSTRACTThe nematic phases of a lyotropic system NadS/ decanol/ heavy water are investigated using optical conoscopy and image processing. The phase diagram obtained from these lyotropic materials predicts the occurrence of a direct phase transition, which does not present the biaxial nematic phase, between the discotic (ND) and calamitic (NC) nematic phases. A biaxial nematic (NB) phase is optically characterized and confirmed through conoscopic image, inside the biaxial range, between the two uniaxial nematic phases. Also, their respective transition points are determined by means of image processing. The NB phase observed here is discussed as part of the nature of the micellar configuration of lyotropic materials which exhibit uniaxial nematic phases. 相似文献

An algorithm to generate samples with approximate first‐order, second‐order, third‐order, and fourth‐order moments is presented by extending the Cholesky matrix decomposition to a Cholesky tensor decomposition of an arbitrary order. The tensor decomposition of the first‐order, second‐order, third‐order, and fourth‐order objective moments generates a non‐linear system of equations. The algorithm solves these equations by numerical methods. The results show that the optimization algorithm delivers samples with an approximate residual error of less than 1016 between the components of the objective and the sample moments. The algorithm is extended for a n‐th‐order approximate tensor moment version, and simulations of non‐normal samples replicated from distributions with asymmetries and heavy tails are presented. An application for sensitivity analysis of portfolio risk assessment with Value‐at‐Risk (VaR) is provided. A comparison with previous methods available in the literature suggests that the methodology proposed reduces the error of the objective moments in the generated samples. ? ? Self-assembly FeII complexes of phenazine (Phen), quinoxaline (Qxn), and 4,4′-trimethylenedipyridine (Tmp) with tetrahedral building blocks of [HgII(XCN)4]2− (X=S or Se) formed six new high-dimensional frameworks with the general formula of [Fe(L)m][Hg(XCN)4]⋅solvents (L=Phen, m/X=2/S, 1 ; L=Qxn, m/X=2/S, 2 ; L=Qxn, m/X=1/S, 3 ; L=Qxn, m/X=1/Se, 3-Se ; L=Tmp, m/X=1/S, 4 ; and L=Tmp, m/X=1/Se, 4-Se ). 1 , 3 , and 3-Se show an intense sub-terahertz (sub-THz) absorbance of around 0.60 THz due to vibrations of the solvent molecules coordinated to the FeII ions and crystallization organic molecules. In addition, crystals of 1 , 4 , and 4-Se display low-frequency Raman scattering with exceptionally low values of 0.44, 0.51, and 0.53 THz, respectively. These results indicate that heavy metal FeII−HgII systems are promising platforms to construct sub-THz absorbers. 相似文献

In this study to obtain a better understanding of the thermal properties of hydrazine in nitric acid solution which is used
for preventing the oxidation of extracted plutonium, thermal analysis was carried out for the mixtures in various conditions.
From the results of DSC it was revealed that the vessel material has an influence on the thermal decomposition of hydrazine.
It was also found that hydrazine reacted with nitric acid in an autocatalytic manner, and concentration of nitric acid has

Conventional cell-based assays in life science and medical applications can be difficult to maintain functionally over long periods. Microfluidics is an emerging technology with potential to provide integrated environments for cell maintenance, continuous perfusion, and monitoring. In this study, we developed an integrated microfluidic device with on-chip pumping and detection functionalities. The microfluidic structure in the device is divided into two independent channels separated by a semipermeable membrane on which cells are inoculated and cultured. Perfusion and fluorescence measurements of culture media for each channel can be conducted by the on-chip pumping system and optical fiber detection system. Performance of the device was examined through long-term culture and monitoring of polarized transport activity of intestinal tissue models (Caco-2 cells). The cells could be cultured for more than two weeks, and monolayer transport of rhodamine 123 was successfully monitored by on-line fluorescent measurement. The buildup mechanism of polypeptide multilayers prepared by the layer-by-layer deposition of a polyanion (poly(L-glutamic acid) (PGA)) and polycations (poly(L-lysine) (PLL), poly(D-lysine) (PDL), and copoly(DL-lysine)(PDLL)) was reinvestigated by using in situ ATR-IR spectroscopy. A difference spectral technique applied to analyze the spectra indicated that the deposition of both the PGA and PLL (PDL) layers accompanies the formation of secondary structures consisting mainly of the antiparallel pleated sheet (the beta-sheet) structure, and that the formation of the beta-sheet structure cannot always be explained in terms of polyanion/polycation complex formation or charge compensation between the polyanion and polycations, although it has been considered as a major process in the multilayer buildup process. Instead, the present paper proposes the following mechanism. During the deposition of the polyelectrolyte, a small amount of the beta-sheet structures are produced at the interface as a result of charge compensation between a polyelectrolyte and an oppositely charged polyelectrolyte in the multilayer. The beta-sheets act as nuclei from which further propagation of the structure takes place at the solution/multilayer interfaces. The driving force of the buildup process in the new mechanism is a kinetically favorable insolubilization of each polyelectrolyte in solution at the interfaces. 相似文献
