Structural study of light-emitting nanocomposites based on ZnS:Cu deposited by explosive evaporation method on porous anodic Al<Subscript>2</Subscript>O<Subscript>3</Subscript> matrices

In the work the results of structural studies of nanocomposite systems based on ZnS:Cu (5 at.% and 10 at.%) deposited by explosive evaporation on porous anodic aluminum oxide matrices fulfilled by EXAFS and X-ray phase analysis techniques have been presented. The composites under study are promising for applications in electroluminescent light sources. The results of the studies of emission intensity of light sources depending on frequency and amplitude of exciting field have also been presented.     

Explosive boiling of liquid nitrogen jet in water

The hydrodynamic processes occurring at injection of cryogenic liquid into water pool were studied experimentally. The processes accompanying phase transitions were registered. Data testify the developing pressure drops of the amplitude within a range sufficient for possible formation of gas hydrates with application of methane as the injected cryogenic liquid.     

Maximal radius of the aftershock zone in earthquake networks

In this paper, several seismoactive regions were investigated (Japan, Southern California and two tectonically distinct Japanese subregions) and structural seismic constants were estimated for each region. Using the method for seismic clustering detection proposed by Baiesi and Paczuski [M. Baiesi, M. Paczuski, Phys. Rev. E 69 (2004) 066106; M. Baiesi, M. Paczuski, Nonlin. Proc. Geophys. (2005) 1607-7946], we obtained the equation of the aftershock zone (AZ). It was shown that the consideration of a finite velocity of seismic signal leads to the natural appearance of maximal possible radius of the AZ. We obtained the equation of maximal radius of the AZ as a function of the magnitude of the main event and estimated its values for each region.     

RZ-DPSK transmission at 80 Gbit/s channel rate using in-line semiconductor optical amplifiers

We numerically demonstrate the feasibility of return-to-zero differential phase-shift keying transmission at 80 Gbit/s channel rate using cascaded in-line semiconductor optical amplifiers.     

Syntesis and structure investigations of nanostructures massive of GaAs

A new approach to the synthesis of ordered GaAs nanostructure massives via thermal deposition onto porous aluminum oxide matrices with ordered channel arrangement is described. The geometric characteristics of nanostructures, their structural states, and local atomic structures are studied. Parameters of local atomic structure (e.g., interatomic distances and coordination numbers) are obtained for comparing to the data on GaAs continuous films.     

Experimental demonstration of mode structure in ultralong Raman fiber lasers

We present the first experimental demonstration of a resolvable mode structure with spacing c/2nL in the RF spectra of ultralong Raman fiber lasers. The longest ever demonstrated laser cavity (L=84 km), RF peaks of ~100 Hz width and spacing ~1 kHz have been observed at low intracavity powers. The width of the peaks increases linearly with growing intracavity power and is almost independent of fiber length.
