Elastic scattering and transverse momentum correlations in multiperipheral models

We compute the overlap function and transverse momentum correlations in various versions of the multiperipheral model. We examine in particular how close to saturation is the bound for the pomeron slope recently derived by Krzywicki.Correlations between neighbouring transverse momentum transfers in the S-matrix element are shown to be able to bring the multiperipheral model in agreement with experiment. We also study the case of cluster production and suggest a possible improvement of Krzywicki's bound.     

Oxone as oxygen donor in the catalytic hydroxylation of saturated hydrocarbons

Manganese porphyrin complexes catalyze the hydroxylation of saturated hydrocarbons by potassium hydrogen persulfate (or Oxone) at room temperature. High conversions of hydrocarbons are obtained.     

Experimental study of the effect of nitrogen on titanium-arccathode erosion

Experimental data on the dependence of titanium erosion rate on cathode temperature, Ar, and N₂ pressure from vacuum to 1 torr and arc motion are presented. Erosion rate is found to decrease with conditions that promote cathode poisoning/contamination. Higher cathode temperatures result in enhanced nitriding (poisoning), leading to a reduced erosion rate. A critical nitrogen pressure (0.001 torr) exists where a sharp drop in erosion is measured. Steered arcs show lower erosion rate values of 38 and 15 μg/C for argon and nitrogen, when compared to random arc values of 45 and 35 μg/C. Erosion rate studies on TiN-coated cathodes show a low value of around 22 μg/C     

Étude conformationnelle théorique des dithiéno (c,e) dihydro azépine,oxépinne et thiépinne

The PCILO method is used to study the conformations of the dithieno-(c,e)-dihydroazepin, and of the oxepin and thiepin analogues. The optimization of all the parameters of the seven membered ring is achieved by using the steepest gradient method. The energetically favoured conformation is the “twisted” form, whatever the position of the orthocondensation of the thiophen cycles. This form is predominant in particular when the thiophen cycles are linked in (c) to the seven membered ring. The energy difference between the “twisted” form and the “half boat” form vary in the order S > NH ~ O and the same sequence is observed for the torsion of the cycles in the “twisted” form. An initial estimation of the solvation process is carried out by using the Jano's formalism.     

Synthesis ofo-thiatelluraphenylenezirconocenes. X-ray crystal structure of

o-Thiatelluraphenylenezirconocene complexes were obtained in good yield by reaction of dilithiumo-benzenthiatelluride with zirconocene dichlorides. These compounds represent the first examples of heterodichalcogenaphenylene bent metallocences. They were characterized by spectroscopic methods and the effect on the n.m.r. results of stepwise substitution of one and two Te atoms for S is discussed. X-ray crystal structure analysis was performed for one representative complex. The structure is very similar to that previously reported for a diselenaphenylene complex, but the disorder observed for chalcogen atoms prevents an accurate comparison of the geometrical parameters with other related compounds.

Noise and bifurcations

The influence of while noise on bifurcating dynamical systems is investigated using both Fokker-Planck and functional integral methods. Noise leads to fuzzy bifurcations where physically relevant quantities become smooth functions of the bifurcation parameters. We study dynamical and probabilistic quantities, such as invariant measures, Liapunov exponents, correlation functions, and exit times. The behavior of these quantities near the deterministic bifurcation point changes for distinct values of the control parameter. Therefore the very concept of bifurcation point becomes meaningless and must be replaced by the notion of bifurcation region.     

Transverse correlations and perturbative reggeon calculus

We investigate the transverse momentum structure of multiparticle production phenomena in the perturbative reggeon calculus. We find that concerning the transverse correlation <p_c·p_d>(y_c,y_d) in the central region, the cutting rules of Abramovskii, Gribov, Kancheli are modified and tha inclusive long-range transverse correlation is asymptotically zero to the second order in the triple-pomeron coupling constant.
