Stable Isotopes (strontium-87, deuterium and oxygen-18, carbon-13) have been used to reveal different sources of groundwater and mixing processes in the aquifer of the Silao-Romita Valley in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. Calcite dissolution appeared to be the main process of strontium release leading to relatively equal (87)Sr/(86)Sr ratios of 0.7042-0.7062 throughout the study area which could be confirmed by samples of carbonate rocks having similar Sr ratios (0.7041-0.7073). delta(13)C values (-11.91- -6.87 per thousand VPDB) of groundwaters confirmed the solution of carbonates but indicated furthermore influences of soil-CO(2). Deuterium and (18)O contents showed a relatively narrow range of-80.1- -70.0 per thousand VSMOW and -10.2- -8.8 per thousand, VSMOW, respectively but are affected by evaporation and mixing processes. The use of delta(13)C together with (87)Sr/(86)Sr revealed three possible sources: (i) carbonate-controlled waters showing generally higher Sr-concentrations, (ii) fissure waters with low-strontium contents and (iii) infiltrating water which is characterized by low delta(13)C and (87)Sr/(86)Sr ratios. The third component is affected by evaporation processes taking place before and during infiltration which might be increased by extraction and reinfiltration (irrigation return flow).  相似文献

Interpretation of environmental behavior of uranium is based on several steps of data analysis and statistical inference. First step is sampling and analyzing of uranium in field samples by routine laboratory methods. Such methods have to fulfill multiple requirements like robustness, efficiency, low detection limit and precision. A comparison of different approaches in assigning uncertainty to experimentally obtained analytical data shows that classical error estimation is not significantly inferior to more sophisticated modern techniques like inverse regression or orthogonal regression. A second step is the correlation of analytical data with current state of insight into environmental behavior of uranium. Such a correlation furthers the choice of adequate geochemical models and quality of geochemical data base for subsequent detailed analysis, e.g. by geochemical modeling. An appraisal of the individual steps in this complex analysis is given on the basis of statistical procedures for calibration and an EH-pH diagram of uranium for atmospheric conditions.  相似文献

Standard muon spin rotation (μSR) spectroscopy implants 4 MeV spin-polarized positive muons to investigate the bulk properties of matter. Success in producing epithermal muons opens interesting possibilities for studying ultrathin films, interfaces, and even surfaces. At the ISIS Facility, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (Chilton, UK), we have produced a pulsed ultraslow muon beam (E< 20 eV) and have performed the first μSR experiments. Due to the pulsed feature, the implantation time is automatically determined and, by adjusting the final muon energy between about 8 and 20 eV, depth slicing experiments are possible down to monolayers distances. We describe slicing experiments across a 20 nm copper film on quartz substrate with evidence for a 2 nm copper oxide surface layer. A preliminary experiment on a hexagonal cobalt film suggests the existence of muon precession in the local magnetic field. The results are discussed in relation to the morphological features of the film.  相似文献

The aim of this study is to investigate the feasibility and efficacy of PEC nanoparticles as delivery system for cancer chemotherapy. Assembly of paclitaxel‐loaded nanoparticles with high loading efficiency and narrow‐size distribution is successful. For non‐invasive in vivo tracing, nanoparticle blends of chelator bearing poly(lactide) with PEC and PLGA are successfully prepared. Pharmacokinetic studies in mice reveal a twofold higher circulation time of PEC as compared to PLGA. A tumor model shows an accumulation of PEC NPs in cancerous tissue and a higher anti‐tumor efficiency compared to the standard Taxol?, which is reflected in a significantly slower tumor growth compared to the NaCl control group.

The investigation of light hypernuclei is quite important for understanding the basic YN interaction and the mechanism of hypernuclear structure. We started the commissioning of the decay pion spectroscopy of light hypernuclei at MAMI-C in 2011. In order to realize the K+ tagging efficiently, some detectors on KAOS spectrometer were upgraded or newly installed. The existing and well-studied spectrometers, SpekA, SpekC were used as pion spectrometers. The analysis is ongoing to estimate the detectors performance and develop the spectrometers for future experiments with higher beam intensity. The preliminary results of the particle identification are presented in this article.  相似文献
