Spectrophotometric determination of thorium in food using 2-(2,5-disulfonic-4-methoxyphenylazo)-7-(2-hydroxyl-5-carboxylphenylazo)-1,8-dihydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid

A new highly sensitive and selective chromogenic reagent, 2-(2,5-disulfonic-4-methoxyphenylazo)-7-(2-hydroxyl-5-carboxylphenylazo)-1,8-dihydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid (1), was synthesized and applied to the spectrophotometric determination of trace thorium. In 5 mL of a 6 M perchloric acid medium, which greatly increases the selectivity, thorium reacts with 1 to form a 1: 2 green complex, having a sensitive absorption peak at 670 nm. Under optimal conditions, Beer’s law is obeyed over the range from 0 to 0.8 μg/mL Th(IV) and the apparent molar absorptivity is 2.09 × 10⁵ L/mol cm. It is found that, uranium(VI), Ti(IV), heavy rare earths, and most of other common metal ions do not interfere. The method has been tested on the determination of thorium in food samples with satisfactory results. The text was submitted by the authors in English.     

低压催化氚化亮石松碱的定位效应的研究

近年来,中草药有效成分的研究引起国内外有关学者普遍关注。氚标记中草药有效成分是研究其相应的药代动力学和代谢产物的主要手段,它具有操作简便,条件温和等优点,但是一般氚化方法均不能明确给出氚化位置。而研究氚化定位效应又是药理工作者急待解决的重要课题,所以在很大程度上限制了该项技术的使用范围。最近,郑冬珠等人用FX—100型核磁共振谱仪给出了在PdO催化剂存在条件下,低压氚化亮石松碱的氚化位置及其相对含量。本文在前文基础上,以亮石松碱为底物,根据Fraser和Garnett等人提出的氢—氚同位素交换反应动力学理论,采用CNDO/2法,对PdO催化亮石松碱的立体构型讲行了计算,得出一些有意义的结果。     

Interaction of tetrandrine with human serum albumin: a fluorescence quenching study.

The interaction of tetrandrine with human serum albumin (HSA) was studied by measuring fluorescence quenching spectra, synchronous fluorescence spectra and ultra-violet spectra. The fluorescence quenching spectra of HSA in the presence of tetrandrine showed that tetrandrine quenched the fluorescence of HSA. The quenching constants of tetrandrine on HSA were determined using the Stern-Volmer equation. Static quenching and non-radiation energy transfer were the two main reasons leading to the fluorescence quenching of HSA by tetrandrine. According to the F?rster theory of non-radiation energy transfer, the binding distances (r) and the binding constants (K(A)) were obtained. The thermodynamic parameters obtained in this study revealed that the interaction between tetrandrine and HSA was mainly driven by a hydrophobic force. The conformational changes of HSA were investigated by synchronous spectrum studies.     

A zwitterion of 1,5‐bis­(2‐hydroxy­benzamido)‐3‐aza­pentane: a two‐dimensional hydrogen‐bonding network involving dimers

The title compound, 2‐{N‐[2‐(2‐hydroxy­benzamido)ethyl­ammonio­ethyl]amino­carbon­yl}phenolate, C₁₈H₂₁N₃O₄, crystallizes in a zwitterionic form as a result of inter­molecular proton transfer and possesses a negatively charged phenolate group and a protonated amino group. The 2‐hydroxy­benzamide and 2‐(amino­carbonyl)­phenolate moieties attached to the two ends of the C—C—N—C—C backbone adopt a cis conformation in relation to this backbone. All N‐ and O‐bound H atoms are involved in hydrogen‐bond formation; the zwitterions are first linked into head‐to‐tail dimers, which are further organized into a two‐dimensional network parallel to the crystallographic bc plane.     

Chemical Reactions and Kinetics of the Carbon Monoxide Coupling in the Presence of

The chemical reactions and kinetics of the catalytic coupling reaction of carbon monoxide to diethyl oxalate were studied in the presence of hydrogen over a supported palladium catalyst in the gaseous phase at the typical coupling reaction conditions. The experiments were performed in a continuous flow fixed-bed reactor. The results indicated that hydrogen only reacts with ethyl nitrite to form ethanol, and kinetic studies revealed that the rate-determining step is the surface reaction of adsorbed hydrogen and the ethoxy radical (EtO-). A kinetic model is proposed and a comparison of the observed and calculated conversions showed that the rate expressions are of rather high confidence.     

Development of a ~3He Gas Filling Station at the China Spallation Neutron Source

At the China Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS), we have developed a custom gas-filling station, a glassblowing workshop, and a spin-exchange optical pumping(SEOP) system for producing high-quality ~3He-based neutron spin filter(NSF) cells. The gas-filling station is capable of routinely filling ~3He cells made from GE180 glass of various dimensions, to be used as neutron polarizers and analyzers on beamlines at the CSNS. Performance tests on cells fabricated at our gas-filling station are conducted via neutron transmission and nuclear-magneticresonance measurements, revealing nominal filling pressures, and a saturated ~3He polarization in the region of 80%, with a lifetime of approximately 240 hours. These results demonstrate our ability to produce competitive NSF cells to meet the ever-increasing research needs of the polarized neutron research community.

Effect of graft polymer prepared by living radical polymerisation on electro-optical properties of polymer dispersed liquid crystal

In this study, a graft polymer matrix prepared by living radical polymerisation had been incorporated into polymer dispersed liquid crystals (PDLCs). The electro-optical properties of the PDLCs were investigated. The results showed that the length and density of graft chain had a great influence on the memory effect of the PDLCs. Low-driving-voltage and weak-memory-effect PDLCs could easily be obtained with a graft polymer matrix.
