Despite the advantages presented by synthetic polymers such as strength and durability, the lack of biodegradability associated with the persistence in the environment for a long time turned the attention of researchers to natural polymers. Being biodegradable, biopolymers proved to be extremely beneficial to the environment. At present, they represent an important class of materials with applications in all economic sectors, but also in medicine. They find applications as absorbers, cosmetics, controlled drug delivery, tissue engineering, etc. Chitosan is one of the natural polymers which raised a strong interest for researchers due to some exceptional properties such as biodegradability, biocompatibility, nontoxicity, non-antigenicity, low-cost and numerous pharmacological properties as antimicrobial, antitumor, antioxidant, antidiabetic, immunoenhancing. In addition to this, the free amino and hydroxyl groups make it susceptible to a series of structural modulations, obtaining some derivatives with different biomedical applications. This review approaches the physico-chemical and pharmacological properties of chitosan and its derivatives, focusing on the antimicrobial potential including mechanism of action, factors that influence the antimicrobial activity and the activity against resistant strains, topics of great interest in the context of the concern raised by the available therapeutic options for infections, especially with resistant strains.  相似文献

The international seafood trade is based on food safety, quality, sustainability, and traceability. Mussels are bio-accumulative sessile organisms that need regular control to guarantee their safe consumption. However, no well-established and validated methods exist to trace mussel origin, even if several attempts have been made over the years. Recently, an inorganic multi-elemental fingerprint coupled to multivariate statistics has increasingly been applied in food quality control. The mussel shell can be an excellent reservoir of foreign inorganic chemical species, allowing recording long-term environmental changes. The present work investigates the multi-elemental composition of mussel shells, including Al, Cu, Cr, Zn, Mn, Cd, Co, U, Ba, Ni, Pb, Mg, Sr, and Ca, determined by inductively-coupled plasma mass-spectrometry in Mytilus galloprovincialis collected along the Central Adriatic Coast (Marche Region, Italy) at 25 different sampling sites (18 farms and 7 natural banks) located in seven areas. The experimental data, coupled with chemometric approaches (principal components analysis and linear discriminant analysis), were used to create a statistical model able to discriminate samples as a function of their production site. The LDA model is suitable for achieving a correct assignment of >90% of individuals sampled to their respective harvesting locations and for being applied to counteract fraud.  相似文献

Curcumin, the dietary polyphenol isolated from Curcuma longa (turmeric), is commonly used as an herb and spice worldwide. Because of its bio-pharmacological effects curcumin is also called “spice of life”, in fact it is recognized that curcumin possesses important proprieties such as anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, antiproliferative, anti-tumoral, and anti-aging. Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s Diseases, Parkinson’s Diseases, and Multiple Sclerosis are a group of diseases characterized by a progressive loss of brain structure and function due to neuronal death; at present there is no effective treatment to cure these diseases. The protective effect of curcumin against some neurodegenerative diseases has been proven by in vivo and in vitro studies. The current review highlights the latest findings on the neuroprotective effects of curcumin, its bioavailability, its mechanism of action and its possible application for the prevention or treatment of neurodegenerative disorders.  相似文献

[2-(Me2NCH2)C6H4]HgCl (1) was prepared by reacting HgCl2 with [2-(Me2NCH2)C6H4]Li in diethyl ether. The reactions of 1 with the sodium or ammonium salt of the appropriate thiophosphinato ligand, in 1:1 molar ratio, afford the isolation of [2-(Me2NCH2)C6H4]Hg[S(S)PR2] [R=Me (2), Et (3), Ph (4)], [2-(Me2NCH2)C6H4]Hg[S(O)PPh2] (5) and [2-(Me2NCH2)C6H4]Hg[S(S)P(OiPr)2] (6). The compounds were investigated by IR and multinuclear NMR (1H, 13C and 31P) spectroscopy. The molecular structures of 1 and 4 were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Due to the strong intramolecular coordination of the N atom of the pendant CH2NMe2 arm [Hg(1)-N(1) 2.764(6) and 2.725(4) Å in 1 and 4, respectively] both compounds exhibit a T-shaped (C,N)HgX core in the molecular unit, with almost linear arrangement of the covalent bonds [C(1)-Hg(1)-Cl(1) 176.93(18)° in 1, and C(1)-Hg(1)-S(1) 169.54(16)° in 4]. The crystals of 1 contain discrete monomeric molecules, while the crystals of 4 contain dimer associations built through asymmetric bridging dithiophosphinato ligands [Hg(1)-S(1) 2.3911(16) Å, Hg(1)?S(2a) 3.102(2) Å], thus resulting in an overall pseudo-trigonal bipyramidal (or seesaw) (C,N)HgS2 core, with the nitrogen atom and the weekly bonded sulfur atom in equatorial positions [N(1)-Hg(1)?S(2a) 82.01(10)°].  相似文献

Titanium is a low density element with excellent mechanical properties, and is an attractive material for structural and biomedical applications. In recent years, a new process technology is emerging by which titanium and titanium alloys can be obtained by using titanium hydride (TiH2) as a precursor for Ti and its mixture with alloying elements. The feasibility of this manufacturing approach has been fully demonstrated from powder to sintering and from microstructure to mechanical properties. In this paper, a study concerning powder metallurgy processing of Ti by spark plasma sintering (SPS) route is presented. The influence of the technological parameters on the hardness and microstructures change during SPS has been studied. The experimental results are related to microscopic, thermal, and mechanical analysis.  相似文献

Organic semiconductors (OSCs) are strong contenders for use in printed, flexible electronics. Although organic electronic materials have been studied for many years, the physics of charge transport is still under investigation. This is in part due to variability resulting from the large variety of molecules that can be synthesized and inconsistency in electrical characterization due to device and processing conditions. Molecular ordering in OSCs is known to alter the charge transport characteristics and attention to long range and short range ordering provides clues as to the nature of transport pathways. Here, we study ordered regioregular poly(3‐hexylthiophene‐2,5‐diyl) films carefully prepared to obtain a set of three samples with incrementally increasing order on identical transistor architectures. Ordering was characterized using a variety of short and long range techniques to probe the coherence and number of crystallites formed during processing, and the correlation between these different measures of order are quantified. We observe three changes in transistor behavior that show a shift from non‐ideal to more textbook‐like characteristics with increasing order: reduction of the contact resistance, shift to field‐independent mobility, and a shift from a diode‐like (S‐shaped) to linear response at low lateral fields. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A straightforward strategy for the synthesis and functionalization of polyurethanes (PUs) via the use of alkyne‐functionalized polytetrahydrofuran (PTHF) diols is described. The alkyne groups have been introduced into the PTHF chains by the cationic ring‐opening copolymerization of tetrahydrofuran and glycidyl propargyl ether. These PTHF prepolymers were combined with 1,4‐butanediol and hexamethylene diisocyanate for the synthesis of linear PUs with latent functionalization sites. The polyether segments of the PUs have then been coupled with several types of functionalized azides by the copper‐catalyzed azide‐alkyne “click” chemistry, for example with phosphonium containing azides for their antibacterial properties. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The thermal stability of two kinds of dextran-coated magnetite (dextran with molecular weight of 40,000 (Dex40) and 70,000 (Dex70)), obtained by dextran adsorption onto the magnetite surface is investigated in comparison with free dextran in air and argon atmosphere. The thermal behavior of the two free dextran types and corresponding coated magnetites is similar, but atmosphere dependent. The magnetite catalyzes the thermal decomposition of dextran, the adsorbed dextran displaying lower initial decomposition temperatures comparative with the free one in both working atmospheres. The dextran adsorbed onto the magnetite surface decomposes in air through a strong sharp exothermic process up to ~450 °C while in argon atmosphere two endothermic stages are identified, one in the temperature range 160–450 °C and the other at 530–800 °C.  相似文献

A complete local ring of embedding codepth 3 has a minimal free resolution of length 3 over a regular local ring. Such resolutions carry a differential graded algebra structure, based on which one can classify local rings of embedding codepth 3.
