The microorganisms Scopulariopsis brevicaulis, Candida humicola, and Gliocladium roseum growing aerobically, methylate a range of arsenic compounds to produce R′R″As(CH3) (R′  R″  CH3; R′  n-C4H9, R″  CH3). When l-methionine-methyl-d3 is added to the cultures the CD3 label is incorporated, intact, in the evolved arsine to a considerable extent, indicating that S-adenosylmethionine or some related sulphonium compound is involved in the biological process.  相似文献

The Alpha Particle X‐Ray Spectrometer (APXS) determines the chemical composition of Martian rocks and soils on‐board both active National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) rovers using X‐ray emission spectroscopy through complementary particle‐induced X‐ray emission (PIXE) and X‐ray fluorescence (XRF) excitation methods. A single APXS spectrum represents the sum of the signals from within the instrument's field of view (FOV). In the past, features smaller than the FOV have been investigated through repeated measurements with stepwise lateral offsets. These lateral offsets allow for empirically extracting, through elemental correlations, distinct compositions of different features. Here, we present a novel analytical method for deconvolving the endmember chemistry of visually distinct components through oversampling and the integrated analysis of the elemental data and supporting images. We discuss specifically the method's application to three targets investigated by the Mars Science Laboratory rover Curiosity during its traverse, as well as the added information that can be gained from this method in the future. We present a rare example of a decay mechanism playing a constructive role in quantum information processing. We show how the state of an atom trapped in a cavity can be teleported to a second atom trapped in a distant cavity by the joint detection of photon leakage from the cavities. The scheme, which is probabilistic, requires only a single three level atom in a cavity. We also show how this scheme can be modified to a teleportation with insurance.  相似文献

Heavy metal pollution is a major environmental problem in the modern world due to increasing human activities. Zinc is an essential element involved in a wide variety of cellular processes. However, it becomes toxic when elevated concentrations are introduced into the environment. The goal of the present study is to investigate the effect of zinc exposure on the biochemical contents of the muscle tissues of freshwater species Labeo rohita using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. Since the muscle constitutes the greatest mass of the fish that is consumed, the present study has paid particular attention to muscle component. The result reveals that the zinc exposure causes significant changes in the biochemical contents of the L. rohita muscle tissues. In addition, it causes an alteration in the protein secondary structures by decreasing the α-helix and increasing the β-sheet contents of muscle tissues. Further, it has been observed that the administration of chelating agent D-penicillamine improves the protein and lipid contents in the muscle tissues compared to zinc exposed tissues. This result shows that D-penicillamine is the effective chelator of zinc in reducing the body burden of L. rohita fingerlings.  相似文献

Individuals in social networks often imperfectly monitor others’ network relationships and have incomplete information about the value of forming new relationships. This paper introduces the Generalized Conjectural Equilibrium (GCE) concept for such settings and completely characterizes the set of GCE networks when players observe only local parts of the network. Incomplete information and imperfect monitoring generate different types of inefficiency. These inefficiencies increase in number and scope as network observation becomes more localized. These results suggest that actual social networks will be structured inefficiently in general.  相似文献
