A unifying concept for large-scale linear programming is developed. This approach, calledfactorization, allows one to isolate the effect of different types of constraints and variables in the algebraic representation of the tableau. Two different factorizations based on a double representation of the tableau are developed. These factorizations are applied to obtain the essential structure of efficient algorithms for generalized upper bounding, coupled block-diagonal problems, set partitioning LPs, minimum cost network flows, and other classes of problems.This research was supported in part by the National Science Foundation and the Office of Naval Research. The Fermilab KTeV experiment has searched for lepton-flavor-violating decays of the K(L) meson in three decay modes. We observe no events in the signal region for any of the modes studied, and we set the following upper limits for their branching ratios at the 90% C.L.: BR(K(L) --> pi(0) micro(+/-) e(-/+)) <7.6 x 10(-11); BR(K(L) --> pi(0)pi(0) micro(+/-) e(-/+)) <1.7 x 10(-10); BR(pi(0) --> micro(+/-) e(-/+)) <3.6 x 10(-10). This result represents a factor of 82 improvement in the branching ratio limit for K(L) --> pi(0) micro(+/-) e(-/+) and is the first reported limit for K(L) --> pi(0)pi(0) micro(+/-) e(-/+).  相似文献

Confinement-imposed photophysics was probed for novel stimuli-responsive hydrazone-based compounds demonstrating a conceptual difference in their behavior within 2D versus 3D porous matrices for the first time. The challenges associated with photoswitch isomerization arising from host interactions with photochromic compounds in 2D scaffolds could be overcome in 3D materials. Solution-like photoisomerization rate constants were realized for sterically demanding hydrazone derivatives in the solid state through their coordinative immobilization in 3D scaffolds. According to steady-state and time-resolved photophysical measurements and theoretical modeling, this approach provides access to hydrazone-based materials with fast photoisomerization kinetics in the solid state. Fast isomerization of integrated hydrazone derivatives allows for probing and tailoring resonance energy transfer (ET) processes as a function of excitation wavelength, providing a novel pathway for ET modulation.  相似文献

The exciton dynamics of CdSe nanocrystals are intimately linked to the surface morphology. Photo-oxidation of the selenium surfaces of the nanocrystal leads to an increase in radiative decay efficiency from both the band edge and deep trap emission states. The addition of the primary amine hexadecylamine curtails nonradiative excitonic decay attributed to the dangling surface selenium orbitals by passivation of those trap sites by the methylene protons on the amine, leading to enhanced band edge emission and the absence of deep trap emission. Furthermore, CdSeZnSe core/shell nanocrystals are not immune from contributions from surface states because of the alignment of the band structures of the core and shell materials.  相似文献
