Experimental data on the spatial distribution of the energy deposited around an energetic heavy ion, from 1 MeV proton to 5.9 MeV/n uranium ion, which have been reported in the literature were documented to obtain a scaled radial dose distribution; (β/Z*)2 D(Z*, β,t)=200 (for t=0–1), 200/t2 (for t=1tc), and 200 tc/t3 (for t>tc) where Z* and β are the effective charge and velocity relative to c, the velocity of light, of the incident ion, respectively, D the dose in unit of Gy, t the radial distance in unit of nm, tc the critical distance empirically determined.
Then, if we know the yield of any chemical reaction as a function of dose from the results of experiments using γ-radiations or fast electrons or theoretical calculations, we can calculate the probability for the yield of the chemical reaction in the system bombarded with a heavy ion of the effective charge Z* and velocity β. The results of the present calculation of the LET-values and of G(Fe3+) in the ferrous sulfate acidic solution are presented and compared with reported experimental results. 相似文献

A magnetic domain wall (DW) injected and pinned at a notch in a permalloy nanowire is shown to exhibit four well-defined magnetic states, vortex and transverse, each with two chiralities. These states, imaged using magnetic force microscopy, are readily detected from their different resistance values arising from the anisotropic magnetoresistance effect. Whereas distinct depinning fields and critical depinning currents in the presence of magnetic fields are found, the critical depinning currents are surprisingly similar for all four DW states in low magnetic fields. We observe current-induced transformations between these DW states below the critical depinning current which may account for the similar depinning currents. 相似文献

Biological assays at the single molecule level are crucial to fundamental studies of DNA-protein mechanisms. In order to cater
for high throughput applications, one area of immense research potential is single-molecule bioassays where miniaturized devices
are developed to perform rapid and effective biological reactions and analyses. With the success of various emerging technologies
for engineering miniaturized structures down to the nanoscale level, supported by specialized equipment for detection, many
investigations in the field of life science that were once thought impossible can now be actively explored. In this review,
the significance of downscaling to the single-molecule level is firstly presented in selected examples, with the focus placed
on restriction enzyme assays. To determine the effectiveness of single-molecule restriction enzyme reactions, simple and direct
analytical methods based on DNA stretching have often been reliably employed. DNA stretching can be realized based on a number
of working principles related to the physical forces exerted on the DNA samples. We then discuss two examples of a nanochannel
system and a microchamber system where single-molecule restriction enzyme digestion and DNA stretching have been integrated,
which possess prospective capabilities of developing into highly sensitive and high-throughput restriction enzyme assays.
Finally, we take a brief look at the general trends in technological development in this field by comparing the advantages
and disadvantages of performing assays at bulk, microscale and single-molecule levels.

The boron 1s photoelectron spectrum of (11)BF(3) has been measured at a photon energy of 400 eV and a resolution of about 55 meV. The pronounced vibrational structure seen in the spectrum has been analyzed to give the harmonic and anharmonic vibrational frequencies of the symmetric stretching mode, 128.1 and 0.15 meV, as well as the change in equilibrium BF bond length upon ionization, -5.83 pm. A similar change in bond length has been observed for PF(3) and SiF(4), but a much smaller change for CF(4). Theoretical calculations for BF(3) that include the effects of electron correlation give results that are in reasonable accord with the experimental values. The Lorentzian (lifetime) width of the boron 1s core hole in BF(3) is found to be 72 meV, comparable to the value of 77 meV that has been reported for CF(4). 相似文献

In this review, we describe the regulation of photomovement responses by phototropin and phytochrome photoreceptors. The blue light receptor phototropin mediates various photomovement responses such as phototropism, chloroplast movement and stomatal opening. In cryptogamic plants including ferns, mosses and green alga, red as well as blue light mediates phototropism and chloroplast movement. The red/far-red light reversibility suggests the involvement of phytochrome in these responses. Thereby, plant growth is presumably promoted by coordinating these photomovements to capture efficiently light for photosynthesis. 相似文献
