Bestimmung von Quecksilber(II) durch „Inverse Differential-Puls-Polarographie“

Zusammenfassung Die inverse Differential-Puls-Polarographie wurde zur Bestimmung kleinster Quecksilbermengen herangezogen. Bei Verwendung einer wachsimprägnierten Graphitelektrode gelang es, 10 ng Hg/ml zu bestimmen. Mit Hilfe einer Glassy Carbon-Elektrode konnte noch 1 ng/ml erfaßt werden.

Determination of mercury(II) by Differential-Pulse-Anodic-Stripping voltammetry

Summary The Differential Pulse Anodic Stripping Voltammetry was used for the determination of very small amounts of mercury. The application of a wax-impregnated graphite electrode allowed to determine 10 ng Hg/ml. By means of a glassy carbon electrode it was possible to decrease the limit of detection to 1 ng/ml.

Über die Absorption von Stickstoffdioxyd bei der C-H-Analyse. Mangandioxyd als Absorptionsmittel

Zusammenfassung Es wurde ein Verfahren ausgearbeitet, um die Absorptionsleistung von MnO₂-Präparaten zahlenmäßig bestimmen zu können. Hierbei zeigte sich, daß die Absorptionsleistung von der angebotenen NO₂-Menge, von der Schichtlänge und von der Strömungsgeschwindigkeit des Spülgases abhängt. Diese Faktoren wurden auch rechnerisch erfaßt. Es gelang weiters, die analytisch auswertbare Kapazität (Durchbruchskapazität) von MnO₂-Präparaten aus der empirisch leicht bestimmbaren Gesamtkapazität zu berechnen.

Summary A method has been developed for the quantitative determination of the absorptional capacity of MnO₂ preparations. It was found that the absorption capacity depends on the quantity of NO₂ submitted, the length of the layer, and the flow rate of the purging gas. These factors were treated mathematically. The analytically useful capacity (break-through capacity) of MnO₂ preparations was calculated from the total capacity which is readily determined empirically.

Résumé On a mis au point un procédé de détermination numérique du pouvoir d'absorption de préparations de MnO₂. On a montré que le pouvoir absorbant vis-à-vis des quantités de NO₂ présentes dépendait de l'épaisseur de la couche et de la vitesse d'écoulement du gaz d'entraînement. On a également atteint ces facteurs par le calcul. On a réussi en outre à calculer la capacité intéressante pour l'analyse (capacité limite pour laquelle le NO₂ commence à être réjeté sans que la saturation de MnO₂ soit atteinte) des préparations de MnO₂ à partir de la capacité totale déterminée facilement par voie empirique.

Spin structure of surface-supported single-molecule magnets from isomorphous replacement and X-ray magnetic circular dichroism

Surface-supported arrays of Fe(4)-type Single-Molecule Magnets retain a memory effect and are of current interest in the frame of molecule-based information storage and spintronics. To reveal the spin structure of [Fe(4)(L)(2)(dpm)(6)] (1) on Au, an isomorphous compound [Fe(3)Cr(L)(2)(dpm)(6)] was synthesized and structurally and magnetically characterized (H(3)L is tripodal ligand 11-(acetylthio)-2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl)undecan-1-ol and Hdpm is dipivaloylmethane). The new complex contains a central Cr(3+) ion and has a S = 6 ground state as opposed to S = 5 in 1. Low-temperature X-ray Magnetic Circular Dichroism studies at Fe- and Cr-L(2,3) edges revealed that the antiparallel alignment between Fe and Cr spins is preserved on surfaces. Moreover, the different Fe-L(2,3) spectral features found in the homo- and heterometallic species disclose the opposing contribution of the central Fe(3+) ion in the former compound, proving that its ferrimagnetic spin structure is retained on surfaces.
