Artificial surfaces that come into contact with blood induce an immediate activation of the cascade systems of the blood, leading to a thrombotic and/or inflammatory response that can eventually cause damage to the biomaterial or the patient, or to both. Heparin coating has been used to improve hemocompatibility, and another approach is 2‐methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC)‐based polymer coatings. Here, the aim is to evaluate the hemocompatibility of MPC polymer coating by studying the interactions with coagulation and complement systems using human blood in vitro model and pig in vivo model. The stability of the coatings is investigated in vitro and MPC polymer‐coated catheters are tested in vivo by insertion into the external jugular vein of pigs to monitor the catheters' antithrombotic properties. There is no significant activation of platelets or of the coagulation and complement systems in the MPC polymer‐coated one, which was superior in hemocompatibility to non‐coated matrix surfaces. The protective effect of the MPC polymer coat does not decline after incubation in human plasma for up to 2 weeks. With MPC polymer‐coated catheters, it is possible to easily draw blood from pig for 4 days in contrast to the case for non‐coated catheters, in which substantial clotting is seen.  相似文献

Nicotinamides are a class of compounds with a wide variety of applications, from use as antimicrobial agents to inhibitors of biological processes. These compounds are also cofactors, which are necessary components of metabolic processes. Structural modification gives rise to the activities observed. Similarly, 1,3,4‐thiadiazoles have been shown to possess antioxidant, antimicrobial, or anti‐inflammatory biological activity. To take advantage of each of the inherent characteristics of the two aforementioned functional groups, 2‐nicotinamido‐1,3,4‐thiadiazole, C8H6N4OS, was synthesized. Since defining chemical connectivity is paramount in understanding biological activity, in this report, the structural characterization of 2‐nicotinamido‐1,3,4‐thiadiazole has been carried out using X‐ray crystallographic methods. The NMR‐derived assignments were made possible by utilizing one‐ (1D) and two‐dimensional (2D) NMR techniques. In addition, UV–Visible and IR spectroscopies, and elemental analysis were used to fully characterize the product synthesized by the one‐step reaction between nicotinoyl chloride hydrochloride and 2‐amino‐1,3,4‐thiadiazole. Computational parameters related to blood–brain barrier permeability are also presented.  相似文献

In the present study the migration order of the propranolol enantiomers with various native CDs and neutral and charged CD derivatives was examined in capillary electrophoresis (CE). The reversal of the enantiomer migration order was observed due to sulfation of β‐CD on its primary hydroxy groups. The structures of intermolecular selector‐select and temporary diastereomeric associates in solution were elucidated based on 1D rotating frame nuclear Overhauser effect spectroscopy (1D ROESY) experiments. Major structural differences were observed between the propranolol complexes with native β‐CD and heptakis(6‐O‐sulfo)‐β‐CD.  相似文献

The resolving power of a new commercial polysaccharide‐based chiral stationary phase, Sepapak‐4, with cellulose tris(4‐chloro‐3‐methylphenylcarbamate) coated on silica microparticles as chiral selector, was evaluated toward the enantioseparation of ten basic drugs with widely different structures and hydrophobic properties, using ACN as the main component of the mobile phase. A multivariate approach (experimental design) was used to screen the factors (temperature, n‐hexane content, acidic and basic additives) likely to influence enantioresolution. Then, the optimization was performed using a face‐centered central composite design. Complete enantioseparation could be obtained for almost all tested chiral compounds, demonstrating the high chiral discrimination ability of this chiral stationary phase using polar organic mobile phases made up of ACN and containing an acidic additive (TFA or formic acid), 0.1% diethylamine and n‐hexane. These results clearly illustrate the key role of the nature of the acidic additive in the mobile phase.  相似文献

Coming to the surface : The surface composition of carbon‐supported Pt3Co catalyst particles changes upon a CO‐annealing treatment. Platinum atoms segregate to the particle surface so that nanoparticles with a platinum shell surrounding an alloy core are formed. This modified catalyst has a superior activity in the oxygen reduction reaction compared to both a plain platinum catalyst and the untreated alloy particles.

Complete dissolution is needed for the separation, characterization, or homogeneous labeling of whole starch molecules. A method is presented to quantify the extent of starch dissolution in DMSO for the first time; it is validated on a commercial rice starch. It is used directly on starch dispersions containing possible undissolved or co‐dissolved species. High‐amylose maize starches, known to be digested slowly in vivo, only quantitatively dissolve in the presence of high concentrations of an H‐bond disrupter, LiBr, although they form clear dispersions at low LiBr concentrations. Starch quantitatively dissolves from waxy rice flours; non‐starch components partially co‐dissolve but do not interfere with the dissolution quantification.

In this paper, we deal with a two-dimensional Navier-Stokes system in a rectangle with Navier slip boundary conditions on the horizontal sides. We establish the global null controllability of the system by controlling the normal component and the vorticity of the velocity on the vertical sides. The linearized control system around zero is controllable but one does not know how to deduce global controllability results for the nonlinear system. Our proof uses the return method together with a local exact controllability result by Fursikov and Imanuvilov.  相似文献

Systematic variation of microscale structures has been employed to create a rough superhydrophobic surface with a contact angle gradient. Droplets are propelled down these gradients, overcoming contact angle hysteresis using energy supplied by mechanical vibration. The rough hydrophobic surfaces have been designed to maintain air traps beneath the droplet by stabilizing its Fakir state. Dimensions and spacing of the microfabricated pillars in silicon control the solid-liquid contact area and are varied to create a gradient in the apparent contact angle. This work introduces the solid-liquid contact area fraction as a new control variable in any scheme of manipulating droplets, presenting theory, fabricated structures, and experimental results that validate the approach.  相似文献
