Summary The kinetics of replacement of 4,4-bipyridine, (4,4-bipy), and 4-cyanopyridine, (4-CNpy), by cyanide in [Fe(CN)5-(4,4-bipy)]3-. at 298 K have been studied in binary aqueous mixtures containing different amounts of t-butanol, methanol, glycerol, ethyleneglycol and sucrose. The plots of logarithms of the limiting rate constantsversus the mole fraction of water are linear over the entire composition range studied, showing the importance of solvation phenomena. A different straight line of log (kL/s–1)versus XH2O is obtained for each mixture, indicating the influence of other solvent parameters on the reaction rate. A multiparameter regression of G

Isothermal vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data, at 25° C were determined by a saturation method for each of the six methanol or methyl acetate binary systems with dichloromethane, chloroform, and 1,2-trans-dichloroethylene. The experimental data satisfy the Redlich-Kister consistency test, and were correlated with five Gibbs free energy models. All the binary mixtures of methanol with the chlorinated compounds exhibit strong positive deviations from ideality while the mixtures of methyl acetate with the chlorinated compounds present negative deviations from ideal behavior.Communicated at the Festsymposium celebrating Dr. Henry V. An electrochemical method for the determination of the ionophores monensin and lasalocid was developed, based on the polarization of an agar gel/nitrobenzene electrolyte interface. The measured current corresponding to the facilitated ion transfer across this interface is directly proportional to the concentration of an ionophore dissolved in the organic phase. Four commercial strains and two mutants of the yeast species Yarrowia lipolytica were screened using batch fermentation. Strain Y. lipolytica A-101-1.14 (induced with UV irradiation) was found to be the most suitable for citric acid production from glucose hydrol (39.9% glucose and 2.1% other sugars), a byproduct of glucose production from potato starch. The specific rate of total citric and isocitric acid production was 0.138 g/g.h, the yield on consumed glucose 0.93 g/g, and the productivity achieved was as high as 1.25 g/L.h. All of the tested yeast strains were able to utilize only the glucose from the glucose hydrol medium. Thus, some residual higher oligosaccharides remained in the process effluent. 相似文献

Glucose utilization by lysine-producing fluoroacetate-sensitive mutants ofCorynebacterium glutamicum
A fluoroacetate-sensitive mutant was isolated fromCorynebacterium glutamicum, ATCC 21513, following mutagenesis with NTG. Batch fermentations show that in terms of growth kinetics, glucose utilization,
and lysine formation, there are significant differences between the mutant and the parent. The mutant’s specific growth rate
(0.22/h) is lower than that for the parent (0.34/h). Also, the yield expressed as lysine/glucose consumed does not alter as
a function of the glucose concentration for the mutant, and is about 0.22, whereas for the parent, this coefficient decreases
with increasing glucose concentration. The maximum specific rate of lysine production for the mutant is 1.3 g/L/h that is

A number of 2-X-3-nitro-1,8-naphthyridines (X= H,D,OH,Cl,NH2, OEt) react with the anion of chloromethyl phenyl sulfone exclusively into 2-X-3-nitro-4-(phenylsulfonylmethyl)-1,8-naphthyridines in high yield. Stryphnodendron barbatiman (barbatimão) is a native tree that is found throughout the “Cerrados,” a region of Central Brazil. Plant seeds, on water extraction, furnished 28 g% galactomannan (dryweight basis), the monosaccharide composition of which (galactose to mannose ratio, 1.0:1.5) fits in the legume heteromannan group. This seed gum, after Sevag deproteinization, still retained 6 g% of associated protein and had a molecular weight of about 1.8 MD on gel filtration. A high intrinsic viscosity (1300 cP) was observed for the polysaccharide sample obtained after reflux of the crushed seeds in 80% aqueous methanol.
