The NA60 experiment studies muon pair production at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron. In this Letter we report on a precision measurement of J/psi in In-In collisions. We have studied the J/psi centrality distribution, and we have compared it with the one expected if absorption in cold nuclear matter were the only active suppression mechanism. For collisions involving more than approximately 80 participant nucleons, we find that an extra suppression is present. This result is in qualitative agreement with previous Pb-Pb measurements by the NA50 experiment, but no theoretical explanation is presently able to coherently describe both results.  相似文献

The extreme use of ethanol causes metabolic and pathologic changes in testes and urogenital system in different animal species. The enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) catalyses the conversion of ethanol into carcinogenic metabolite acetaldehyde which is partly excreted into the urine. However, papers relating the chronic ethanol consumption to the urethral morphology are unknown. This work evaluates the toxic effect of the chronic ethanol ingestion on the urethral epithelium of UChA and UChB rats. Conventional techniques of histology, histochemistry, immunohistochemistry and ultrastructural analysis were used. The analysis showed the presence of lipid drops and intercellular spaces in the epithelial cells in the urethra of UChA and UChB rats compared to control rats. Urethral neuroendocrine cell were observed and characterized for presenting vesicles containing electron-dense granules associated with nervous fibers. We conclude that the chronic consumption of ethanol induces the presence lipid drops in the epithelial cells of the urethra of UChA and UChB rats. The NE cells of the urethra of UChA and UChB rats did not show alterations under chronic effect of the ethanol.  相似文献

This work reports experimental kinetic data of solvent-free glycerolysis of olive oil using a commercial immobilized lipase (Novozym 435) under the influence of ultrasound irradiation. The experiments were performed in a mechanically stirred reactor under ultrasound irradiation, evaluating the effects of temperature (50-70 °C), enzyme concentration (2.5-10 wt%) and glycerol to oil molar ratio (0.8:1-3:1). Results show that ultrasound-assisted lipase-catalyzed glycerolysis might be a potential alternative route to conventional methods, as high contents of reaction products, especially monoglycerides, were achieved at mild irradiation power supply (∼130 W) and temperature, in a relatively short reaction time (2 h) and low enzyme content (7.5 wt%). To completeness, two simplified kinetic modeling approaches, based on the ordered-sequential bi bi mechanism and reaction stoichiometry, were employed to represent the experimental data, thus allowing a better understanding of the reaction kinetics.  相似文献

We report a novel magnetic phenomenon consisting of the formation of helical spin configurations during the magnetization of densely packed ferromagnetic nanowires encapsulated inside carbon nanotubes. We studied the hysteresis loops when the magnetic fields are applied parallel and perpendicular to the nanotubes axes. We also performed theoretical calculations on aligned nanowire arrays that clearly indicate the creation of helical spin vortices in the hysteresis loops. The latter are caused by the presence of strong dipolar interactions among neighboring wires.  相似文献

The impact of silver pre‐adsorption on germanium growth on Si(113) was investigated using in‐situ low‐energy electron microscopy (LEEM) as well as low‐energy electron diffraction (LEED). The adsorption of silver leads to the formation of a regular pattern of nanofacets along the [1 0] direction. The periodicity of this pattern in [33 ] direction was determined to (44 ± 4) nm. From LEED series at different energies the facets were identified to be of (111) and (115) orientation. While the (111) facets show a (√3 × √3)‐R30° reconstruction, the (115) facets exhibit a (2 × n) superstructure. The subsequent growth of Ge results in the formation of nanoislands that are aligned along the facets. The extracellular matrix consists of collagen, proteoglycans and non-collagen proteins. The incidence of obesity and associated diseases is currently increasing in developed countries. Obesity is considered to be a disease of modern times, and genes predisposing to the disease have been identified in humans and animals. The objective of the present study was to compare the morphological and biochemical aspects of the deep digital flexor tendon of lean (Fa/Fa or Fa/fa) and genetically obese (fa/fa) Zucker rats. Ultrastructural analysis showed the presence of lipid droplets in both groups, whereas disorganized collagen fibril bundles were observed in obese animals. Lean animals presented a larger amount of non-collagen proteins and glycosaminoglycans than obese rats. We propose that the overweight and lesser physical activity in obese animals may have provoked the alterations in the composition and organization of extracellular matrix components but a genetic mechanism cannot be excluded. These alterations might be related to organizational and structural modifications in the collagen bundles that influence the mechanical properties of tendons and the progression to a pathological state.  相似文献

First-principles calculations are performed to obtain the dielectric function and loss spectra of bulk PdH(x). Hydrogen concentrations between x = 0 and 1 are considered. The calculated spectra are dominated by a broad peak that redshifts in energy with x. The obtained bulk dielectric function is employed to compute the loss spectra of PdH(x) spherical nanoparticles as a function of x. The dominant plasmon peak in the spherical nanoparticle is lowered in energy with respect to the bulk case. However, the dependence of the resonance energy on the hydrogen concentration is roughly similar to that in bulk.  相似文献

The curvature energy coefficient of the nuclear mass formulaa c is first calculated for the model case of a Fermi gas bounded by an external Woods-Saxon potential. The semiclassical theory of Wigner and Kirkwood is used anda c is found to be close to zero. It is, however, shown that this low value is due to the lack of selfconsistency of the potential. When available, the results of the model compare very well with quantal values and the extrapolation to the spherical cavity (billiard) checks with the value fora c known from the Balian-Bloch theory. Second, the selfconsistent case is generalised to finite range forces. No indication is found that this modifies the fact that all theoretical values for a c are larger than about 7 MeV which is an order of magnitude above the empirical value.  相似文献
