Measurements of the production of forward high-energy pi(0) mesons from transversely polarized proton collisions at sqrt[s]=200 GeV are reported. The cross section is generally consistent with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations. The analyzing power is small at x(F) below about 0.3, and becomes positive and large at higher x(F), similar to the trend in data at sqrt[s]< or =20 GeV. The analyzing power is in qualitative agreement with perturbative QCD model expectations. This is the first significant spin result seen for particles produced with p(T)>1 GeV/c at a polarized proton collider.  相似文献

A method for the practical determination of the absolute concentration of single (a1delta(g)) oxygen is discussed. The method is based on sensitive off-axis integrated-cavity-output spectroscopy (ICOS). Off-axis ICOS allows narrowband, continuous-wave lasers to be used in conjunction with optical cavities to record sensitive absorption measurements. The details of the method as well as spectroscopic data confirming the first observation of the (1, 0) band of the b1sigma(g)(+) - a1delta(g) Noxon system are presented. The absolute transition probabilities for the b1sigma(g)(+) - a1delta(g) Noxon system, which are not known precisely from experiments, are determined by quantum chemistry theory.  相似文献

We have studied the effect of pressure on the electronic structure of bcc and bct iron within the local spin density approximation (LSDA) for the electronic exchange and correlation. We report calculations of the magneto-optical properties of ferromagnetic iron in the bcc and bct phases using the full potential linearized augmented plane wave (FPLAPW) method as implemented in the WIEN2K code. In both phases, we find two prominent minima in Kerr rotation. In bcc phase, both the calculated Kerr minima shift towards higher energies with increase in pressure while in bct phase, the low energy minimum in Kerr rotation spectra 2 eV becomes less pronounced and the minimum at 7 eV moves towards higher energies on increasing pressure.  相似文献

The effects of absorption of 7.9 and 5.0 eV photons by the polymer poly(methyl methacrylate) are studied using molecular dynamics simulations. By rapidly depositing a critical amount of thermal energy in the surface region (greater than 0.03 eV Å−3), a pressure wave is formed which causes spallation of the substrate. If there is only one photon absorbed per monomer unit of the polymer, the 7.9 eV photons can supply sufficient energy density to initiate ejection.  相似文献

Cyclam-based enediynes 1-3 have been synthesized for the first time either by direct bis- or tetra-alkylation of the cyclam or via double alkylation of the 1,8-bis-sulfonyl derivative. The enediyne 1 readily forms a complex with Ni(II), which also lowered the onset temperature for Bergman cyclization of the parent enediyne by 60 °C. In the presence of a co-oxidant, MMPP, the Ni-complex can cleave ds-DNA into the nicked relaxed form at micromolar concentrations.  相似文献

The emergence of dynamical abrupt transitions for the first time in an ensemble of identical limit-cycle and chaotic oscillators coupled via a common environment is reported. The transition from the oscillatory state to the death state and vice versa, in these networks of oscillators are found not only discontinuous as well as irreversible in the parameter space. This first order phase transition in these systems is termed as Explosive Death. The occurrence of such transition is studied in details by using an appropriate order parameter for both limit-cycle and chaotic oscillators, in particular, Stuart–Landau and Rössler oscillators. The backward transition point for this phenomenon is obtained analytically using linear stability analysis and is found to be consistent with the numerical results.  相似文献

A low-cost, green synthesis of ZnS nanoparticles is reported using 0.3 % latex solution prepared from Jatropha curcas L. ZnS nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction, selected area electron diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive analysis of X-rays, UV–vis optical absorption and photoluminescence techniques. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy was performed to find the role of cyclic peptides namely curcacycline A (an octapeptide), curcacycline B (a nonapeptide) and curcain (an enzyme) as a possible reducing and stabilizing agents present in the latex of J. curcas L. The average size of ZnS nanoparticles was found to be 10 nm. Latex of J. curcas L. itself acts as a source of sulphide (S−2) ions that are donated to Zn ions under present experimental conditions. Source of sulphide (S−2) ions is still unclear, but we speculate that cysteine or thiol residues present in enzyme curcain may be donating these sulphide (S−2) ions.  相似文献
