Synthesis, properties, and reactivity of the stilbene complex of ytterbium (PhCH=CHPh)Yb(THF)2. Crystal structure of (2,4,6-But 3C6H2O)2Yb(THF)3

The stilbene complex of ytterbium (PhCH=CHPh)Yb(THF)₂ (1) was prepared by the reaction of YbI₂(THF)₂ with a twofold excess of (PhCH=CHPh)⁻ Li⁺. Based on the data of IR and ESR spectroscopy and on the results of magnetic measurements, compound1 was characterized as a complex of divalent ytterbium with the stilbene dianion. The reactivity of complex1 toward different types of reagents was studied. The structure of the product of the reaction of1 with 2,4,6-tri(tert-butyl)phenol (2,4,6-Bu^t ₃C₆H₂O)₂Yb(THF)₃ was established by X-ray diffraction analysis. Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. The Er and Yb Complexes with Silicon-Containing Phosphates and Fluorine-Containing Phosphine Oxide: Synthesis,Spectra, and Films

Three new silicon- and fluorine-containing ligands, namely bis(dimethylamido)(3-triethoxysilylpropylamido)phosphate O=P(NMe₂)₂NHCH₂CH₂CH₂Si(OEt)₃, diphenyl(3-triethoxysilylpropylamido)phosphate O=P(OPh)₂NHCH₂CH₂CH₂Si(OEt)₃, and tris(3,3,3-trifluoropropyl)phosphine oxide O=P(CH₂CH₂CF₃)₃ are synthesized. The erbium and ytterbium complexes with amine, phosphate, and phosphine oxide ligands Ln(NH₂R)₃Cl₃, Ln[O=P(NMe₂)₂NHR]₃Cl₃, Ln[O=P(OPh)₂NHR]₃Cl₃ (R=CH₂CH₂CH₂Si(OEt)₃), Ln[O=P(OPh)₃]₃Cl₃, Ln[O=P(CH₂CH₂CF₃)₃]₃Cl₃ are produced and their electronic absorption spectra and photoluminescence spectra are studied. The silicon-containing compounds form transparent thermostable films on silicate glass or quartz surface.     

Synthesis and fungicidal activity of substituted 6-azolylmethyl-7-benzylidenespiro[4.5]decan-6-ols

A series of halogen substituted 6-azolylmethyl-7-benzylidenespiro[4.5]decan-6-ols were obtained from spiro[4.5]decan-6-one in three steps: Claisen—Schmidt condensation with substituted benzaldehydes, conversion of 7-benzylidenespiro[4.5]decan-6-ones to oxiranes by reaction with dimethylsulphonium methylide followed by ring opening of oxiranes with 1,2,4-triazole or imidazole. In vitro testing of fungicidal activity of synthesized compounds against seven phytopathogenic fungi showed, that a number of compounds are more active than triadimenol.     

Generation of VUV radiation in Lyman and Werner bands of pulsed space discharge in hydrogen mixtures with helium

A self-consistent numerical model for the self-sustained high-current pulsed discharge is constructed based on the solution of the equations of the population of H₂ electronic and vibrational states. The model accounts for electronic, ion-molecular, and vibrational kinetics, electron attachment to and detachment from the H₂ molecule, Lyman and Werner band emission, and their radiation trapping. The equations of electron-vibrational kinetics are solved simultaneously with the Boltzmann equation for the electron energy distribution function and the external electrical circuit equations.     

Multidimensional dynamic processes studied by symbolic analysis in velocity-curvature space

A new computer-aided method for the symbolic analysis of discrete mappings and sequences is proposed that is based on a finite discretization of the velocity-curvature space. A minimum alphabet is introduced in a natural way. A number of initial analytical measures are defined that make it possible to study the dynamics structure of multidimensional discrete mappings, continuous systems, and dynamic processes. The proposed analytical method is tested by applying it to a logistic oscillator in the domain to the right of the period-doubling limit point, and the method is shown to be informative. It is revealed that the oscillation structure of the logistic map is highly asymmetric. The critical parameter values are found at which the geometric structure of the map trajectories changes qualitatively.     

Reactions of 1-bromo-1-nitro-3,3,3-trichloropropene with <Emphasis Type="Italic">O</Emphasis>- and <Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis>-nucleophiles

Reactions of 1-bromo-1-nitro-3,3,3-trichloropropene with alcohols, benzidine and o-, m-, and p-phenylenediamines was investigated and the reaction conditions were developed. The alkoxylation and amination products and an unusual nitrogen-containing bis-aziridine were obtained; their structures were characterized by the spectral (IR, ¹H, ¹³C NMR, HMQC, and HMBC) methods.     

Structure of alkyl 2,3-dibromo-3-nitroacrylates in solution

The structure of the new representatives of polyfunctional bromonitroalkenes, alkyl 2,3-dibromo-3-nitroacrylates, was examined by means of dipole moments, [B3LYP/6-31G(d)] quantum-chemical methods, and IR spectroscopy. They were found to have nontrivial Z-configuration in a solution.
