We introduce a new class of distributions and provide a comprehensive treatment of its mathematical properties. The maximum likelihood method is discussed to estimate the parameters of the new model by means of Monte-Carlo simulation study. The heteroscedastic regression models with long-term survival are introduced to model data sets with the non homogeneity of the error variances in the presence of cured individuals. In this paper, an exact analytical solution for creeping flow of Bingham plastic fluid passing through curved rectangular ducts is presented for the first time. The closed form of axial velocity distribution, flow resistance ratio, and wall shear stress are derived using bounded Fourier transformation. An extensive investigation on mutual effects of Hedstrom number, curvature ratio, and aspect ratio is conducted. The results indicate that a drag reduction is caused in the flow field by increasing the Hedstrom number. It is shown that unlike the Newtonian creeping Dean flow, the critical aspect ratio (an aspect ratio in which the flow resistance ratio is independent from curvature ratio) does not exist at large enough Hedstrom numbers. Analytical solution also indicated that as Hedstrom number is increased, the value of Poiseuille number is enhanced, and unlike the Newtonian flows, the value of Poiseuille number is not zero at edges of cross section. 相似文献

Amplification of multiwavelength signals by an erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) is becoming critical, due to the proliferation of wavelength division multiplexed systems. However, when a standard EDFA is employed, the dissimilarities among the signals’ gain may prove unacceptable. Thus, a novel gain-clamped EDFA is proposed here to tackle the issue of gain tilt. Phenylalanine hydroxylase, a mononuclear non-heme iron enzyme, catalyzes the hydroxylation of phenylalanine to tyrosine in the presence of oxygen and reduced pterin cofactor. X-ray structural studies have established the coordination around the iron metal center and point to significant interactions within the second coordination sphere. One such interaction involves Tyr325 in human phenylalanine hydroxylase (hPAH), which forms a hydrogen-bonding network with an aqua ligand on iron and the pterin cofactor. The full-length tetramer (1-452) and truncated dimer (117-424) Tyr325Phe hPAH mutant enzymes showed similar kinetics, thermal stabilities, and oligomerization profiles as their corresponding wild-type proteins. The possibility of in vivo posttranslational hydroxylation that would restore the activity of hPAH was examined by mass spectrometry on the trypsin digested full-length (1-452) hPAH Tyr325Phe point mutant. The amino acid tags obtained by ESI-MS/MS confirmed the presence of a Phe325 in the peptide corresponding to the doubly charged precursor ion at m/z 916.4 (L A T I F W F T V E F G L C K), and its hydroxylated counterpart in the peptide corresponding to the m/z 924.4 (L A T I F-OH W F T V E F G L C K) byproduct ion series comprising the fragments y(5)-y(12). Furthermore, the point mutation Tyr325Ala resulted in an enzyme that was totally inactive and did not display any evidence of hydroxylation. These results demonstrate the importance of Tyr325 for proper conformation of the active site, substrate binding, and catalysis. The rescue of the Tyr325Phe mutant in hPAH via self-hydroxylation presents a novel example of oxidative repair on the molecular level. 相似文献

A nonenzymatic electrochemical sensor for glucose and fructose was fabricated that contained a glassy carbon electrode modified with a copper oxide (CuO)/multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) nanocomposite. The electrochemical properties of the CuO/MWCNT‐modified glassy carbon electrode were investigated. Two distinguishable anodic peaks were observed around 0.30 and 0.44 V corresponding to the oxidation of glucose and fructose, respectively, at the surface of the modified electrode. The detection limits for glucose and fructose were both 0.04 mmol/L. The sensor was used to simultaneously determine the concentrations of glucose and fructose in hydrolyzed sucrose samples, and to measure glucose in blood serum samples, demonstrating its potential as a nonenzymatic carbohydrate sensor. 相似文献
