Odd-parity rotating magnetic fields (RMFo) applied to mirror-configuration plasmas have produced average electron energies exceeding 200 eV at line-averaged electron densities of approximately 10(12) cm-3. These plasmas, sustained for over 10(3)tauAlfven, have low Coulomb collisionality, vc* triple bond L/lambdaC approximately 10(-3), where lambdaC is the Coulomb scattering mean free path and L is the plasma's characteristic half length. Divertors allow reduction of the electron-neutral collision frequency to values where the RMFo coupling indicates full penetration of the RMFo to the major axis. 相似文献

High-resolution laser fluorescence spectroscopy, using a single-mode dye laser acting on a collimated atomic beam, has been performed to determine the hyperfine-structure (hfs) constants in six states of the 6p 5d configuration of135Ba and137Ba. Isotope shifts (IS) for eleven transitions between the 6s 5d and the 6p 5d configurations have also been measured. From an analysis of the energy levels, intermediate angular wavefunctions have been deduced. The wavefunctions are used to evaluate experimental hyperfine parameters from the experimental hfs constants. The parameters are, for the magnetic-dipole interaction compared with theoretical values, and for the electricquadrupole interaction used to estimate the nuclear quadrupole moments for the odd isotopes. The IS in the measured transitions are analysed using a King-plot, with the first resonance line in Ba II as the reference. Specific mass and field shifts are evaluated for the measured transitions. The field shifts have been used to determine the change in mean-square radius between the natural abundant Ba-isotopes. 相似文献

It is well known that, in the plane, the boundary of any quadrature domain (in the classical sense) coincides with the zero set of a polynomial. We show, by explicitly constructing some four-dimensional examples, that this is not always the case. This confirms, in dimension 4, a conjecture of the second author. This paper is intended to clarify a misunderstanding concerningthe source singularity of the electric Green's tensor for aperfectly conducting semi-infinite cone of circular cross-section.Tai's series expansion of the Green's tensor is known to lacka singular term at the source region. Jones has reconstructedthe solution to this problem and has pointed out the differencebetween his result and that of Tai. The aim of our paper isto demonstrate that, although Jones's closed-form solution iscorrect, there is a mistake in his comparison with Tai's seriessolution. We conclude that one of the two additional singularterms that Jones claims as missing from Tai's formula must beomitted. Besides, we compare Jones's closed-form solution withSmyshlyaev's solution to the very same problem. An elastic wave transmitting system (e.g. a nonuniform elastic rod) consisting of an input section with constant impedance, a joint with variable impedance, and an output section with constant impedance is considered. The efficiency of energy transmission (the ratio of transmitted to incident elastic wave energy) is determined and the following optimization problem is solved for two sample cases: Given the properties of the wave transmitting system and a limited duration of the incident wave, determine the shape of this wave such that the efficiency of energy transmission is maximized. In the first case (a joint with constant impedance) the optimization problem leads to a matrix eigenvalue problem. In the second case (a joint with concentrated mass) it leads to an eigenvalue problem for an integral equation. The efficiencies obtained for the optimum incident waves are compared with those obtained for rectagular incident waves an it is found that the differences are generally small. The results, which are discussed with particular reference to the transmission of elastic wave energy through drill rod joints, can also be interpreted for e.g. shallow water waves and electromagnetic waves in a transmission line. 相似文献
