On the existence of local smooth repulsive stabilizing feedbacks in dimension three

Given an affine control system in R³ subject to the Hörmander's condition at the origin, we prove the existence of a local smooth repulsive stabilizing feedback at the origin. Our construction is based on the classical homogenization procedure, on the existence of a semiconcave control-Lyapunov function, and on the classification of singularities of semiconcave functions in dimension two.     

Voice changes in women treated for endometriosis and related conditions: The need for comprehensive vocal assessment

Hormonal treatments which have an androgenic effect have the potential to cause vocal changes. The changes in vocal fold structure and voice quality are considered to be irreversible. To date, studies have documented subjective vocal changes or documented single cases without detailed, baseline voice assessments. The impact on laryngeal function of women taking these androgenic treatments requires further detailed, objective assessment. The need for increased awareness of the actions of androgenic hormones on womns' voices, and the benefits of a thorough voice assessment are discussed.     

Gas spectroscopy and temperature measurement by coherent Raman anti-stokes scattering

The feasibility of Raman spectroscopy and temperature measurements in gases by Coherent Anti-Stokes Scattering is discussed and demonstrated experimentally. Results are presented for H₂ gas at room temperature and also for H₂ liberated by pyrolysis in a Bunsen flame.     

High-performance liquid chromatographic enantioseparation of flavanones on 2-hydroxy- 3-methacryloyloxypropyl beta-cyclodextrin copolymer coated silica phase

Chromatographic resolution of four flavanones is achieved by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) on a chiral stationary phase based on silica coated with a (2-hydroxy-3-methacryloyloxypropyl beta-cyclodextrin-co-N-vinylpyrrolidone) copolymer. The influence of the mobile phase water content and the nature of the organic modifier on the retention and resolution is evaluated. Monosubstituted flavanones are better resolved than the unsubstituted one. Nevertheless, the 6- and 7-methoxy substituents enhance retention and chiral recognition to polymeric beta-cyclodextrin stationary phase less than the 6-hydroxy group.     

Documenting laryngeal change following prolonged loud reading: A videostroboscopic study

This study investigated the effects of prolonged loud reading on trained and untrained subjects. Subjects were eight young women singers, and eight young women with limited musical experience. Each subject underwent videostroboscopic examination prior to and following 1 h of prolonged loud reading. The pretest and posttest videotaped samples were randomized and presented to three experienced judges, who evaluated various aspects of laryngeal appearance and vibratory characteristics. Analyses of group data revealed that untrained subjects showed a small but significant increase in amplitude of vocal fold excursion following the experimental task. No significant differences were noted in the trained singer group. When individual variation was analyzed, it was found that most subjects did not show many changes from pretest to posttest. It was concluded that a l-h loud-reading task was not sufficient to induce notable laryngeal alterations     

Mössbauer studies of the relaxation in the FeNiB amorphous system

Young's modulus of Fe₄₄Ni₃₈Bi₁₈ amorphous ribbons annealed at different temperatures shows an oscillating behavior depending on the annealing temperature. In a previous work, several samples were studied and the Young modulus was correlated with the hyperfine field distributions. In this work, more samples are analyzed and further Mössbauer studies are performed in order to verify the above-mentioned correlation.     

Four-body Efimov effect for three fermions and a lighter particle

We study three same-spin-state fermions of mass M interacting with a distinguishable particle of mass m in the unitary limit where the interaction has a zero range and an infinite s-wave scattering length. We predict an interval of mass ratio 13.384相似文献
