In order to obtain maximum ultrasonic effect upon electrochemical silver recovery, mass transfer measurements were investigated. The effect on limiting current of changing the position of an ultrasonic horn tip (i.e. vertical and horizontal) and using a cylinder electrode (CE), was studied in an attempt to find the optimum position required for maximum sonoelectrochemical effect. The importance of the ultrasonic intensity, the electrode-horn distance and positioning (angle) in assigning limiting currents was also investigated. For the CE placed at an angle of 45 degrees with respect to the ultrasonic horn, it was suggested that the 50% increase in limiting current for the 'face-on' geometry is caused by an approximately 50% decrease in diffusion layer thickness for the 'face-on' geometry compared to the 'angular' geometry due to the difference in the sonicated areas for both geometries. 相似文献

The dependence of the water transport number on current density is examined for three membranes whose characteristics cover a wide spectrum: poly(vinylbenzenesulfonate), porous Vycor glass and cellulose. Experiments and theory show that non-linear volume—time plots in electro-osmotic experiments arise from displacements of the membrane in the electric field, and that reliable water transport numbers can be obtained at a given current density. When the current density is varied, experiments show that the observed water transport number can: (a) increase at low current densities because of osmotic flow superimposed on water transport by the electric field; (b) decrease at higher current densities because of accumulation of salt in the membrane; (c) decrease more at current densities near and above the limiting value because of an increased contribution of hydrogen and hydroxide ions to transport. These phenomena arise from a combination of diffusion films at both membrane—solution interfaces and from the dependence of counteflon and water transport numbers on external salt concentration. 相似文献

The present work has been carried out in order to design a new type of ultrasonic reactor consisting of a double-structured tank. The inner working compartment is built with a slant bottom to allow a better ultrasonic transmission. This paper reports the effect of the inclination angle on acoustic efficiency for several different plates, e.g. two plates made of glass (2 mm and 3 mm thickness) and one made of PVC (3 mm thickness). The acoustic efficiency was determined as the ratio of the signal measured by a hydrophone in the presence of the plate to that signal in the absence of the plate. Having optimised the system, the ultrasonic powers in the inner and the outer compartments of the slant bottom reactor were determined by hydrogen peroxide dosimetry. 相似文献

Hodgsonox (1), a new insecticidal sesquiterpene, has been isolated from the New Zealand liverwort Lepidolaena hodgsoniae. The structure was elucidated on the basis of 2D NMR analysis of 1 and a synthetic epoxide derivative (2). Hodgsonox represents a new class of sesquiterpene with a cyclopenta[5,1-c]pyran ring system fused to an oxirane ring. The combination of a mono- and a 1,1 disubstituted double bond flanking the oxygenated carbon of a the pyran ring is a unique structural feature. Although the coordinate ternary field of a topological affine plane is topological, the converse does not hold. However, an affine plane is topological precisely when its coordinate biternary fields are topological. We extend this result to topological biternary rings and their topological affine Klingenberg planes. Then we examine the locally compact situation. Finally, following the ideas of Knarr and Weigand, we show that in certain circumstances, the continuity of the ternary operators is sufficient to ensure that the biternary ring is topological.
