Sulphated polysaccharides (SP) were extracted from Fucus vesiculosus seaweed by using two different hydrothermal processes: microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) and autohydrolysis (AH). The extraction yields, chemical composition, and antioxidant activity of the polysaccharides extracted were determined and compared. Although both processes afforded SP with similar yields (18.2 mass % and 16.5 mass %, for MAE and AH, respectively) and l-fucose as the main monosaccharide, the heterogeneous structure of the polysaccharide recovered was significantly affected by the AH process. The SP obtained by MAE contained 53.8 mole % of fucose, 35.3 mole % of xylose, and 10.8 mole % of galactose; while the SP obtained by AH was composed of 76.8 mole % of fucose and 23.2 mole % of galactose. Both samples presented comparable values of antioxidant activity by the di(phenyl)-(2,4,6-trinitrophenyl)iminoazanium (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl, DPPH), 2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) (ABTS), and lipid oxidation inhibition methods, but the polysaccharide obtained by AH exhibited a higher antioxidant potential by the differential pulse voltammetry technique. This study demonstrates that the chemical composition and antioxidant activity of SP obtained from F. vesiculosus vary according to the process used for their extraction. However, the SP obtained by MAE or AH both have the potential for use as natural antioxidants in industrial applications.  相似文献

The main focus of the current research was the characterization of the by-products from the steam distillation of Lavandula angustifolia Mill. (LA) and Lavandula x intermedia Emeric ex Loisel (LI) aerial parts, as they are important sources of bioactive compounds suitable for several applications in the food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries. The oil-exhausted biomasses were extracted and the total polyphenol and flavonoid contents were, respectively, 19.22 ± 4.16 and 1.56 ± 0.21 mg/g for LA extract and 17.06 ± 3.31 and 1.41 ± 0.10 mg/g for LI extract. The qualitative analysis by liquid chromatography-electrospray tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-ESI-MS) revealed that both the extracts were rich in phenolic acids and glycosylated flavonoids. The extracts exhibited radical scavenging, chelating, reducing activities, and inhibitory capacities on acetylcholinesterase and tyrosinase. The IC50 values against acetylcholinesterase and tyrosinase were, respectively, 5.35 ± 0.47 and 5.26 ± 0.02 mg/mL for LA, and 6.67 ± 0.12 and 6.56 ± 0.16 mg/mL for LI extracts. In conclusion, the oil-exhausted biomasses demonstrated to represent important sources of bioactive compounds, suitable for several applications in the food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries.  相似文献

This study aimed to investigate matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) activity in human dentin using in-situ and gelatin zymography, after at-home and in-office bleaching, related to their clinical exposure times. Dentin specimens (n = 5) were treated with 35% hydrogen peroxide (50 min per session/4 sessions), 10% carbamide peroxide (180 min/21 sessions), or no treatment. All were subjected to in-situ zymography. Dentin slices were, subsequently, obtained, covered with fluorescein-conjugated gelatin, and examined with confocal laser-scanning microscopy. The fluorescence intensity was quantified and statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Bonferroni tests (α = 0.05). Furthermore, gelatin zymography was performed on protein extracts obtained from dentin powder (N = 8 teeth), treated with hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, with different exposure times (10/50 min for hydrogen peroxide; 252/1260 min for carbamide peroxide). The results of the in-situ zymography showed no statistical differences between the bleached specimens and the control group, with a medium level of gelatinolytic activity expressed in the dentin tubules. The results of gelatin zymography showed an increased expression of pro-MMP-9 in carbamide peroxide groups. The expression of pro-MMP-2 decreased in all the experimental groups. The bleaching treatments performed on the enamel of sound teeth do not influence dentinal enzymatic activity. However, when unprotected dentin tissue is bleached, matrix metalloproteinases are more expressed, particularly when carbamide peroxide is used, proportional to the exposure time.  相似文献

In this paper we design and implement rigorous algorithms for computing symbolic dynamics for piecewise-monotone-continuous maps of the interval. The algorithms are based on computing forwards and backwards approximations of the boundary, discontinuity and critical points. We explain how to handle the discontinuities in the symbolic dynamics which occur when the computed partition element boundaries are not disjoint. The method is applied to compute the symbolic dynamics and entropy bounds for the return map of the singular limit of a switching system with hysteresis and the forced Van der Pol equation.  相似文献

We find an integrable generalization of the BCS model with nonuniform Coulomb and pairing interaction. The Hamiltonian is integrable by construction since it is a functional of commuting operators; these operators, which therefore are constants of motion of the model, contain the anisotropic Gaudin Hamiltonians. The exact solution is obtained diagonalizing them by means of Bethe ansatz. Uniform pairing and Coulomb interaction are obtained as the "isotropic limit" of the Gaudin Hamiltonians. We discuss possible applications of this model to a single grain and to a system of few interacting grains.  相似文献

The effect of time-correlated and white Gaussian noises of low intensity on one-dimensional arrays consisting of diffusively coupled chaotic cells is analyzed. An improvement or worsening of the synchronization between cells of the array driven by low-intensity colored noise is observed for a resonant interval of time correlation values. A comparison between colored and white noise and additive and multiplicative contribution has been carried out investigating the nonlinear cooperative effects of noise strength, correlation time, and coupling strength to control spatiotemporal chaos in coupled arrays of chaotic cells. The possibility to distinguish highly correlated areas of a diffusively coupled network of cells by using low-intensity time correlated noise is discussed. We propose a cheat sensitive quantum protocol to perform a private search on a classical database which is efficient in terms of communication complexity. It allows a user to retrieve an item from the database provider without revealing which item he or she retrieved: if the provider tries to obtain information on the query, the person querying the database can find it out. The protocol ensures also perfect data privacy of the database: the information that the user can retrieve in a single query is bounded and does not depend on the size of the database. With respect to the known (quantum and classical) strategies for private information retrieval, our protocol displays an exponential reduction in communication complexity and in running-time computational complexity.  相似文献

Soft robotics is an emerging field targeting at the development of robotic bodies and architectures characterized by flexibility, adaptability, and motility typical of that of biological systems. The use of electroactive ionic polymer–metal nanocomposites able to reversibly deform in response to low-intensity electric fields constitutes a promising solution for the implementation of actuators into soft robots. Currently, the use of this class of nanocomposites is hampered by several drawbacks, mainly related to the mismatch between the mechanical properties of the polymer and the metallic electrodes compromising their stability and resilience upon cyclic deformation.Here, we report and discuss on the use of supersonic cluster beam implantation (SCBI) as an effective strategy for the fabrication of soft electroactive ionic polymeric nanocomposite actuators. SCBI relies on the use of supersonically accelerated beams of neutral metal nanoparticles that can be aerodynamically collimated and directed onto a polymeric target to generate thin nanostructured metal layers physically interpenetrating with the polymer.Soft electroactive actuators based on engineered ionogel and ionogel-based hybrid nanocomposites provided with monolithically integrated cluster-assembled gold electrodes will be discussed. These systems can undergo long-term bending deformation in a low-voltage regime, due to the nanostructured electrode resilience. The use of cluster-assembled nanostructured electrodes opens new opportunities for the high-throughput manufacturing of soft ionic actuators with excellent mechanical resiliency, high-performance actuation, and high durability.  相似文献
