System Identification Models of the Equivalent Permittivity for Rain Medium

The dielectric constant for rain medium is investigated by utilizing the system identification method. The rain rate model and frequency model of permittivity in millimeter waves band for rain medium are presented. The results obtained with models are in very good agreement with references in calculating the attenuation of electromagnetic waves induced by rain, which Shows that the obtained models are valid and practicable. The cross-polar discrimination gotten with rain rate model is in agreement with references.

The asymptotic behaviors of a stage-structured autonomous predator-prey system with time delay

In this paper, we consider an autonomous predator-prey Lotka-Volterra system in which individuals in the population may belong to one of two classes: the immatures and the matures, the age to maturity is represented by a time delay. By using eigenvalue analysis, principal term analyze method, reduction to absurdity, and iterative method, we obtain some simple conditions for global asymptotic stability of the unique positive equilibrium point. Moreover, a condition that the prey population in the system get extinction and the predator population in the system get permanence will be obtained. Meanwhile the theorems extend the corresponding conclusions in which there have no two stage structures.     

Self‐assembly of amphiphilic tris(2,2′‐bipyridine)ruthenium‐cored star‐shaped polymers

Amphiphilic tris(2,2′‐bipyridine)ruthenium‐cored star‐shaped polymers consisting of one polystyrene block and two poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) blocks were prepared by the “arm‐first” method in which RAFT polymerization and nonconvalent ligand–metal complexation were employed. The prepared amphiphilic star‐shaped metallopolymers are able to form micelles in water. The size and distribution of the micelles were studied by dynamic light scattering and transmission electron microscopy techniques. Preliminary studies indicate that the polymer concentration and the hydrophilic poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) block length can affect the morphologies of the formed metal‐interfaced core–shell micelles in water. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Anti-BZ-Structure in Effect Algebras

The definitions of sharply approximating effect algebras, anti-BZ-effect algebras, central approximating effect algebras, and S-anti-BZ-effect algebras are given, the relationships between sharply approximating effect algebras and anti-BZ-effect algebras, between central approximating effect algebras and anti-BZ-effect algebras are established, and the set of anti-BZ-sharp elements in S-anti-BZ-effect algebras is proved to be an orthomodular lattice.     

Towards a realistic Einstein-Gauge cosmology

We present the cosmological solutions in the six-dimensional Einstein-gauge theory to which is added a matter term. The general behavior of the scale factors of the ordinary (R₃) and extra (R₂) dimensions can be depicted in four stages. Stage 1: Both R₃ and R₂ expand. Stage 2: R₂ is a constant and R₃ is an inflationary solution. Stage 3: R₂ recollapses towards its minimum value, R₃ will continue to increase monotonically. Stage 4: R₂ stabilizes at R_KK and R₃ expands in the usual FRW way, while the four-dimensional cosmological constant becomes zero.
