We present a measurement of the branching fraction of the decay B(0)-->a1 (+/)(1260)pi(/+) with a1 (+/)(1260)-->pi(/+)pi(+/)pi(+/). The data sample corresponds to 218 x 10(6) BB[over ] pairs produced in e+e- annihilation through the Upsilon(4S) resonance. We measure the branching fraction Beta(B(0)-->a1(+/)(1260)pi(/+))Beta(a1(+/)(1260)-->pi(/+)pi(+/)pi(+/)) = (16.6+/1.9+/1.5) x 10(-6), where the first error quoted is statistical and the second is systematic.  相似文献

A measurement of the spin of the Omega(-) hyperon produced through the exclusive process Xi(c)(0)-->Omega(-)K(+) is presented using a total integrated luminosity of 116 fb(-1) recorded with the BABAR detector at the e(+)e(-) asymmetric-energy B factory at SLAC. Under the assumption that the Xi(c)(0) has spin 1/2, the angular distribution of the Lambda from Omega(-)-->LambdaK(-) decay is inconsistent with all half-integer Omega(-) spin values other than 3/2. Lower statistics data for the process Omega(c)(0)-->Omega(-)pi(+) from a 230 fb(-1) sample are also found to be consistent with Omega(-) spin 3/2. If the Xi(c)(0) spin were 3/2, an Omega(-) spin of 5/2 could not be excluded.  相似文献

In the present study a new insert design is presented and validated to enable reliable dynamic mechanical characterization of low strain-to-failure materials using the Split-Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) apparatus. Finite element-based simulations are conducted to better understand the effects of stress concentrations on the dynamic behavior of LM-1, a Zr-based bulk metallic glass (BMG), using the conventional SHPB setup with cylindrical inserts, and two modified setups—one utilizing conical inserts and the other utilizing a “dogbone” shaped specimen. Based on the results of these computational experiments the ends of the dogbone specimen are replaced with high-strength maraging steel inserts. This new insert-specimen configuration is expected to prevent specimen failure outside the specimen gage section. Simulations are then performed to validate the new insert design. Moreover, high strain-rate uniaxial compression tests are conducted on LM-1 using the modified SHPB with the new inserts. An ultra-high-speed camera is employed to investigate the changes in failure behavior of the specimens. Additional experiments are conducted with strain gages directly attached to the gage section of the specimens to determine accurately their dynamic stress–strain behavior.  相似文献

Due to the chemical and biological relevance of amino acids, efficient methods for the recognition and separation of their enantiomers are highly sought after. Chiral receptors based on extended molecular scaffolds are typically employed for this purpose. These receptors are often effective only in specific environments and towards a narrow scope of amino acid guests. Recently we reported a simple, glucose-based macrocycle capable of enantioselective binding of a broad range of amino acid methyl esters in water. Herein we demonstrate that the same receptor can be used for chiral recognition of amino acid esters in organic solvents. We show that the binding affinity and selectivity of the receptor are highly dependent on the coordinating strength of the solvent. An in-depth analysis of the receptor’s conformation and its interactions with amino acid methyl esters allowed us to propose a binding mode of amino acids to the receptor in CDCl3. The binding modes in CDCl3 and D2O were then compared, highlighting the main interactions responsible for binding affinity and selectivity in each solvent. We envision that the insight provided by this study will facilitate the development of further amino acid receptors based on monosaccharides with improved binding affinities and both enantio- as well as chemoselectivities.  相似文献
