A fast discharge flow apparatus equipped for EPR detection of radicals has been used to investigate the reaction O + HBr → OH + Br. At 295°K, measurements showed that more than 97% of all OH produced in this reaction was formed initially in its first vibrationally excited state. Rate constants for physical deactivation of OH(v = 1) by O(3P), Br(2P3/2), H2O, and HBr were measured as (1.45 ± 0.25) × 10?10, (6.4 ± 2.4) × 10?11, (1.35 ± 0.50) × 10?11, and < 10?12 cm3/molec·sec, respectively.  相似文献

One of the remaining challenges in providing effective preparative LC-MS purification is balancing throughput and compound purity. We describe here an approach to optimizing preparative LC-MS methods that provides significantly better chromatographic resolution and, hence, better compound purity than generic preparative LC methods consuming the same amount of time. This approach is easier to implement, is more rugged, and permits significantly greater flexibility than previously reported approaches. The instrument configurations and protocols presented here are specifically tailored for open access support, but the basic approach is equally suitable and effective in high-throughput situations.  相似文献

The problem of constructing a model of an extended charged particle within the context of general relativity has a long and distinguished history. The distinctive feature of these models is that, in some way or another, they require the presence of negative mass in order to maintain stability against Coulomb's repulsion. Typically, the particle contains a core of negative mass surrounded by a positive-mass outer layer, which emerges from the Reissner-Nordström field. In this work we show how the Einstein-Maxwell field equations can be used to construct an extended model where the mass is positive everywhere. This requires the principal pressures to be unequal inside the particle. The model is obtained by setting the effective matter density, rather than the rest matter density, equal to zero. The Schwarzschild mass of the particle arises from the electrical and gravitational field (Weyl tensor) energy. The model satisfies the energy conditions of Hawking and Ellis. A particular solution that illustrates the results is presented.  相似文献

A preform sleeving technique is demonstrated that allows the fabrication of single-mode polymer microstructured fiber with the smallest core and hole dimensions yet reported to our knowledge. For a fixed triangular hole pattern a range of fibers is produced by adjustment to the operating conditions of the draw tower. Numerical modeling is carried out for one of the fibers produced with a 570-microm external diameter, a core diameter of 2.23 microm, an average hole diameter of 0.53 microm, and an average hole spacing of 1.38 microm. This fiber was shown to be endlessly single mode.  相似文献

The damage induced by the impact of low energy electrons (LEE) on biomolecules is reviewed from a radiobiological perspective with emphasis on transient anion formation. The major type of experiments, which measure the yields of fragments produced as a function of incident electron energy (0.1-30 eV), are briefly described. Theoretical advances are also summarized. Several examples are presented from the results of recent experiments performed in the gas-phase and on biomolecular films bombarded with LEE under ultra-high vacuum conditions. These include the results obtained from DNA films and those obtained from the fragmentation of elementary components of the DNA molecule (i.e., the bases, sugar and phosphate group analogs and oligonucleotides) and of proteins (e.g. amino acids). By comparing the results from different experiments and theory, it is possible to determine fundamental mechanisms that are involved in the dissociation of the biomolecules and the production of single- and double-strand breaks in DNA. Below 15 eV, electron resonances (i.e., the formation of transient anions) play a dominant role in the fragmentation of all biomolecules investigated. These transient anions fragment molecules by decaying into dissociative electronically excited states or by dissociating into a stable anion and a neutral radical. These fragments can initiate further reactions within large biomolecules or with nearby molecules and thus cause more complex chemical damage. Dissociation of a transient anion within DNA may occur by direct electron attachment at the location of dissociation or by electron transfer from another subunit. Damage to DNA is dependent on the molecular environment, topology, type of counter ion, sequence context and chemical modifications.  相似文献

We show magnetoresistance in excess of 1000% in trilayers containing highly spin-polarized La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 and high-Tc superconducting YBa2Cu3O7. This large magnetoresistance is reminiscent of the giant magnetoresistance (GMR) in metallic superlattices but with much larger values, and originates at spin imbalance due to the injection of spin-polarized carriers. Furthermore, in contrast to ordinary GMR, the magnetoresistance is intimately related to the superconductivity in the YBa2Cu3O7 layer and vanishes in the normal state. This result, aside from its fundamental importance, may be of interest for the design of novel spintronic devices based on ferromagnet/superconductor structures.  相似文献
