New synthetic methods for heterocyclic 1,3,2-dithiazolyl (DTA) radicals have been developed, and trends in the molecular spin distributions and electrochemical properties of a series of DTA radicals are reported. The crystal structures of [1,2,5]thiadiazolo[3,4-f][1,3,2]benzodithiazol-2-yl (TBDTA) and [1,3,2]pyrazinodithiazol-2-yl (PDTA) have been determined. The structure of TBDTA (at 293 and 95 K) contains two molecules in the asymmetric unit, each of which generates pi-stacked arrays, one consisting of antiparallel chains of centrosymmetrically associated dimers, the other comprising parallel chains of unassociated radicals. The structure of PDTA (at 293 and 95 K) is simpler, consisting of slipped stacks of pi-dimers. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility (chi(P)) measurements on TBDTA indicate essentially paramagnetic behavior for the unassociated radical pi-stacks over the range 5-400 K. By contrast PDTA is diamagnetic at all temperatures below 300 K, but between 300 and 350 K the value of chi(P) follows a sharp and well-defined hysteresis loop, with T(C) downward arrow = 297 K and T(C) upward arrow = 343 K. These features are symptomatic of a regime of bistability involving the observed low temperature pi-dimer structure and a putative high-temperature radical pi-stack. A mechanism for the interconversion of the two phases of PDTA and related structures is proposed in which hysteretic behavior arises from cooperative effects associated with the breaking and making of a lattice-wide network of intermolecular S- - -N' and/or S- - -S' interactions.  相似文献

The crystal and molecular structure of diphenylthiosulphodiimide, C12H10N2S3, has been solved by the symbolic addition procedure using three-dimensional CuK diffractometer data. The system is monoclinic,a = 30·41(3),b = 5·601(5),c = 7·792(8) Å, = 108·77(1) °, space groupC2/c andZ = 4. The structure was refined by full-matrix least-squares methods toR = 0·096 for 926 observed reflexions. All hydrogen positions have been determined. The molecule possesses a crystallographic diad axis through the central sulphur atom. The planes of the phenyl rings make an angle of 30·8 ° with the closely coplanar central five atoms.  相似文献

Background  

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is an age-dependent neurodegenerative disease that causes motor neuron degeneration, paralysis and death. Mutations in Cu, Zn superoxide dismutase (SOD1) are one cause for the familial form of this disease. Transgenic mice expressing mutant SOD1 develop age-dependent motor neuron degeneration, skeletal muscle weakness, paralysis and death similar to humans. The mechanism whereby mutant SOD1 induces motor neuron degeneration is not understood but widespread mitochondrial vacuolation has been observed during early phases of motor neuron degeneration. How this vacuolation develops is not clear, but could involve autophagic vacuolation, mitochondrial permeability transition (MPT) or uncharacterized mechanisms. To determine which of these possibilities are true, we examined the vacuolar patterns in detail in transgenic mice expressing mutant SOD1G93A.  相似文献

In contrast to the terminal phosphinidene complex PhPW(CO)(5) (2), which adds to [5]metacyclophane (1) in a 1,4-fashion, dichlorocarbene preferentially adds in a 1,2-fashion to the formal "anti-Bredt" type double bond of the aromatic ring of 1 to afford the norcaradiene 11b, which immediately rearranges to the bridged cycloheptatriene 12b and further by a [1,5] sigmatropic chlorine migration to the isomeric 13b as the first observable product. More slowly, the latter isomerizes via a dissociative mechanism to give 15b. A computational study supports the notion that the [1,5] chlorine migration in the rearrangement 12b --> 13b, for which an activation barrier of 70.2 kJ mol(-)(1) was calculated, is essentially concerted with minor charge separation. In contrast, the analogous [1,5] chlorine migration in the flat model compound 7,7-dichlorocycloheptatriene (12a) displays features of a dissociative pathway.  相似文献

We present a measurement of the polarization observed for bottomonium states produced in p-Cu collisions at square root of s = 38.8 GeV. The angular distribution of the decay dimuons of the Upsilon(1S) state shows no polarization at small values of the fractional longitudinal momentum x(F) and transverse momentum p(T) but significant positive transverse production polarization for either p(T)>1.8 GeV/c or for x(F)>0.35. The Upsilon(2S+3S) (unresolved) states show a large transverse production polarization at all values of x(F) and p(T) measured. These observations challenge NRQCD calculations of the polarization expected in the hadronic production of bottomonium states.  相似文献

The molecular radical 1,3,2-dithiazolo[4,5-b]pyrazin-2-yl (PDTA) exhibits magnetic bistability just above room temperature, undergoing a well-defined hysteretic phase change with TC downward arrow = 297(1) K and TC upward arrow = 343(1) K. The crystal structures of the two phases of PDTA have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction at 323(2) K. LT-PDTA consists of diamagnetic (S = 0) nearly superimposed pi-dimer stacks, while that of HT-PDTA comprises slipped stacks of pi-radicals (S = 1/2). The structural interconversion is suggested to proceed via the cooperative breaking and making of intermolecular S- - -N interactions and an inversion symmetry-preserving "domino cascade" of the pi-stacked rings.  相似文献

We report an analysis of the nuclear dependence of the yield of Drell-Yan dimuons from the 800 GeV/c proton bombardment of 2H, C, Ca, Fe, and W targets. Employing a new formulation of the Drell-Yan process in the rest frame of the nucleus, this analysis examines the effect of initial-state energy loss and shadowing on the nuclear-dependence ratios versus the incident proton's momentum fraction and dimuon effective mass. The resulting energy loss per unit path length is -dE/dz = 2.32+/-0.52+/-0.5 GeV/fm. This is the first observation of a nonzero energy loss of partons traveling in a nuclear environment.  相似文献

The construction of diverse sp3‐rich skeletal ring systems is of importance to drug discovery programmes and natural product synthesis. Herein, we report the photocatalytic construction of 2,7‐diazabicyclo[3.2.1]octanes (bridged 1,3‐diazepanes) via a reductive diversion of the Minisci reaction. The fused tricyclic product is proposed to form via radical addition to the C4 position of 4‐substituted quinoline substrates, with subsequent Hantzsch ester‐promoted reduction to a dihydropyridine intermediate which undergoes in situ two‐electron ring closure to form the bridged diazepane architecture. A wide scope of N‐arylimine and quinoline derivatives was demonstrated and good efficiency was observed in the construction of sterically congested all‐carbon quaternary centers. Computational and experimental mechanistic studies provided insights into the reaction mechanism and observed regioselectivity/diastereoselectivity.  相似文献
