Polarized neutron reflectometry is used to probe the in-plane projection of the net-magnetization vector M--> of polycrystalline Fe films exchange coupled to twinned (110) MnF (2) or FeF (2) antiferromagnetic (AF) layers. The magnetization reversal mechanism depends upon the orientation of the cooling field with respect to the twinned microstructure of the AF, and whether the applied field is increased to (or decreased from) a positive saturating field; i.e. , the magnetization reversal is asymmetric. The reversal of the sample magnetization from one saturated state to the other occurs via either domain wall motion or magnetization rotation on opposite sides of the same hysteresis loop.  相似文献

A highly practical method for the enantioselective allylation of ketone-derived benzoylhydrazones has been developed. The previously reported strained silacycle reagent 1 reacts with a wide variety of benzoylhydrazones to give the hydrazide products with good to excellent enantioselectivity (84-97% ee). A mechanism in which the acylhydrazone becomes caovalently attached to the silane has been established.  相似文献

[reaction: see text] A new P-chiral phosphine bis(sulfonamide) ligand has been developed that allows the Cu-catalyzed enantioselective conjugate addition of Et(2)Zn to acyclic aliphatic enones. The reactions proceed with excellent levels of enantioselectivity (90-95% ee) with a range of enone substrates, involve the use of only 1.2 equiv of Et(2)Zn, and give best results at ambient temperature.  相似文献

Perhaps the most familiar concepts when discussing acoustic scattering by bubbles are the resonance frequency for bubble pulsation, the bubbles' damping, and their scattering and extinction cross-sections, all of which are used routinely in oceanography, sonochemistry, and biomedicine. The apparent simplicity of these concepts is illusory: there exist multiple, sometimes contradictory definitions for their components. This paper reviews expressions and definitions in the literature for acoustical cross-sections, resonance frequencies, and damping factors of a spherically pulsating gas bubble in an infinite liquid medium, deriving two expressions for "resonance frequency" that are compared and reconciled with two others from the reviewed literature. In order to prevent errors, care is needed by researchers when combining results from different publications that might have used internally correct but mutually inconsistent definitions. Expressions are presented for acoustical cross-sections associated with forced pulsations damped by liquid shear and (oft-neglected) bulk or dilatational viscosities, gas thermal diffusivity, and acoustic re-radiation. The concept of a dimensionless "damping coefficient" is unsuitable for radiation damping because different cross-sections would require different functional forms for this parameter. Instead, terms based on the ratio of bubble radius to acoustic wavelength are included explicitly in the cross-sections where needed.  相似文献

This paper reports on noninertial cavitation that occurs beyond the zone close to the horn tip to which the inertial cavitation is confined. The noninertial cavitation is characterized by collating the data from a range of measurements of bubbles trapped on a solid surface in this noninertial zone. Specifically, the electrochemical measurement of mass transfer to an electrode is compared with high-speed video of the bubble oscillation. This gas bubble is shown to be a "noninertial" event by electrochemical surface erosion measurements and "ring-down" experiments showing the activity and motion of the bubble as the sound excitation was terminated. These measurements enable characterization of the complex environment produced below an operating ultrasonic horn outside of the region where inertial collapse can be detected. The extent to which solid boundaries in the liquid cause the frequencies and shapes of oscillatory modes on the bubble wall to differ from their free field values is discussed.  相似文献

This paper uses a finite element method (FEM) to compare predictions of the attenuation and sound speeds of acoustic modes in a fluid-filled pipe with those of the analytical model presented in the first paper in this series. It explains why, when the predictions of the earlier paper were compared with experimental data from a water-filled PMMA pipe, the uncertainties and agreement for attenuation data were worse than those for sound speed data. Having validated the FEM approach in this way, the versatility of FEM is thereafter demonstrated by modeling two practical applications which are beyond the analysis of the earlier paper. These applications model propagation in the mercury-filled steel pipework of the Spallation Neutron Source at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (Tennessee), and in a long-standing design for acoustic sensors for use on planetary probes. The results show that strong coupling between the fluid and the solid walls means that erroneous interpretations are made of the data if they assume that the sound speed and attenuation in the fluid in the pipe are the same as those that would be measured in an infinite volume of identical fluid, assumptions which are common when such data have previously been interpreted.  相似文献

In a previous experiment, sonoluminescence was observed in aerated water, especially at the pressure antinodes in the standing-wave field of a physiotherapeutic ultrasound device (Therasonic 1030). Mammalian cells in vitro showed growth inhibition when placed at the pressure antinodes but not at adjacent pressure nodes. In the light of these results, we looked for sonoluminescence in vivo when a similar standing-wave field was set up. To detect luminescence, a light guide was held against the inner surface of the human cheek. This would channel any luminescence photons to a cooled, red-sensitive photomultiplier which would quantify the light. Direct insonation of the cheek produced no detectable luminescence. Similarly when a water bag was placed against the outer surface of the cheek, and the latter was insonated through the bag, no luminescence was detected. Sonoluminescence from the water bag was, however, detected when the bag was placed against the inner surface of the cheek, showing that absorption of sound by the cheek tissue was not preventing cavitation. Further analysis showed that if cavitation had been occurring in the cheek without detection using the system employed, then the resulting sonoluminescence would have to be at most 0.025 times as intense as that produced by an equivalent volume of aerated water.  相似文献
