Heat capacity of poly(vinyl chloride) filled with nanodispersed copper

Results of studies of the heat capacities of poly(vinyl chloride)-based composites that contain copper nanoparticles as a filler and are prepared via electrical explosion of wire are described. In the temperature range T = 303–468 K at copper concentrations of φ = 0–0.10 vol %, the temperature and concentration dependences of the heat capacities of the composites undergo nonlinear variations. The form of the spectral distribution function of the vibration frequencies of the structural elements of the system is estimated via a harmonic approximation. Their role in the formation of the characteristic properties of the material is discussed.     

Structure and microstructure of epitaxial Sr n Fe n O3 n −1 films

Thin films of SrFeO_{3??? x} (0?≤?x?≤?0.5) (SFO) grown on a (LaAlO₃)_0.3 (SrAl_0.5Ta_0.5O₃)_0.7 (LSAT) substrate by pulsed laser deposition have been structurally investigated by electron diffraction and high resolution transmission electron microscopy for different post-deposition oxygen treatments. During the deposition and post-growth oxidation, the oxygen-reduced SFO films accept extra oxygen along the tetrahedral layers to minimize the elastic strain energy. The oxidation process stops at a concentration SFO_2.875 and/or SFO_2.75 because a zero misfit with the LSAT substrate is reached. A possible growth mechanism and phase transition mechanism are suggested. The non-oxidized films exhibit twin boundaries having a local perovskite-type structure with a nominal composition close to SFO₃.     

Measuring the efficiency of control rods in the RBMK critical assembly using a model of RKI-1 reactimeter

The efficiency of control rods of the RBMK critical assembly is measured in a series of experiments. The aim of measurements is to determine the characteristics of the model of an RKI-1 reactimeter. The RKI-1 reactimeter is intended for measuring the efficiency of control rods when, according to conditions of operation, the metrological certification of results of an experiment is required. Complications with the metrological certification of reactimeters arise owing to the fact that usually calculated corrections to the results of measurements are required. When the RKI-1 reactimeter is used, there is no need to introduce calculated corrections; the result of measurements is given with the indication of substantiated errors. In connection with this, the metrological certification of the results of measurements using the RKI-1 reactimeter is simplified.     

Signature codes for noisy multiple access adder channel

We prove new lower bounds on the rate of codes for noisy multiple access adder channel and discuss its application to the well-known coin weighing problem in the case when some measurements are incorrect.
