This paper describes a comparative study of the simultaneous determination of Cd(II), Pb(II), Tl(I), and Cu(II) in highly saline samples (seawater, hydrothermal fluids, and dialysis concentrates) by ASV using the mercury‐film electrode (MFE) and the bismuth‐film electrode (BiFE) as working electrodes. The features of MFE and BiFE as working electrodes for the single‐run ASV determinations are shown and their performances are compared with that of HMDE under similar conditions. It was observed that the stripping peak of Tl(I) was well separated from Cd(II) and Pb(II) peaks in all the studied saline samples when MFE was used. Because of the severe overlapping of Bi(III) and Cu(II) stripping peaks in the ASV using BiFE, as well as the overlapping of Pb(II) and Tl(I) stripping peaks in the ASV using HMDE, the simultaneous determination of these metals was not possible in highly saline medium using these both working electrodes. The detection limits calculated for the metals using MFE and BiFE (deposition time of 60 s) were between 0.043 and 0.070 μg L?1 for Cd(II), between 0.060 and 0.10 μg L?1 for Pb(II) and between 0.70 and 8.12 μg L?1 for Tl(I) in the saline samples studied. The detection limits calculated for Cu(II) using the MFE were 0.15 and 0.50 μg L?1 in seawater/hydrothermal fluid and dialysis concentrate samples, respectively. The methods were applied to the simultaneous determination of Cd(II), Pb(II), Tl(I), and Cu(II) in samples of seawater, hydrothermal fluids and dialysis concentrates.  相似文献

This paper describes a new voltammetric procedure for the inorganic speciation of As(III) and As(V) in water samples. The procedure is based on the chemical reduction of arsenate [As(V)] to arsenite [As(III)] followed by the voltammetric determination of total arsenic as As(III) at the hanging mercury drop electrode (HMDE) by adsorptive cathodic stripping voltammetry (AdCSV) in the presence of sodium diethyl dithiocarbamate (SDDC). The reduction step involved the reaction with a mixture of Na2S2O5 and Na2S2O3 in the concentrations 2.5 and 0.5 mg mL?1, respectively, and the sample heating at 80 °C for 45 min. The linear range for the determination of total arsenic as As(III) in the presence of SDDC was between 5 and 150 μg L?1 for a deposition time of 60 s (r=0.992). A detection limit of 1.05 μg L?1 for total As was calculated for the method in water samples using a deposition time of 60 s. The detection limits of 4.2 μg L?1 and 15.0 μg L?1 for total As in seawater and dialysis concentrates, respectively, were calculated using a deposition time of 60 s. The relative standard deviations calculated were 2.5 and 4.0% for five measurements of 20 μg L?1 As(V) as As(III) in water and dialysis concentrates, respectively, after chemical reduction under optimized conditions. The method was applied for the determination of As(III) and total As in samples of dialysis water, mineral water, seawater and dialysis concentrates. Recovery values between 86.0 and 104.0% for As(III) and As(V) added to the samples prove the satisfactory accuracy and applicability of the procedure for the arsenic monitoring.  相似文献

Superoxide dismutases (SODs) catalyze the disproportionation of superoxide to dioxygen and hydrogen peroxide. The active metal sites of iron and manganese superoxide dismutases are structurally indistinguishable from each other. Despite the structural homology, these enzymes exhibit a high degree of metal selective activity suggesting subtle redox tuning of the active site. The redox tuning model, however, up to now has been challenged by the existence of so-called cambialistic SODs that function with either metal ion. We have prepared and investigated two sets of manganese complexes in which groups of varying electron-withdrawing character, as measured by their Hammett constants sigma Para, have been introduced into the ligands. We observed that the Mn(III)/Mn(II) reduction potential for the series based on 4'-X-terpyridine ligands together with the corresponding values for the iron-substituted 4'-X-terpyridine complexes changed linearly with sigma Para. The redox potential of the iron and manganese complexes could be varied by as much as 600 mV by the 4'-substitution with the manganese complexes being slightly more sensitive to the substitution than iron. The difference was such that in the case where the 4'-substituent was a pyrrolidine group both the manganese and the iron complex were thermodynamically competent to catalytically disproportionate superoxide, making this particular ligand "cambialistic". Taking our data and those available from the literature together, it was found that in addition to the electron-withdrawing capacity of the 4'-substituents the overall charge of the Mn(II) complexes plays a major role in tuning the redox potential, about 600 mV per charge unit. The ion selectivity in Mn and FeSODs and the occurrence of cambialistic SODs are discussed in view of these results. We conclude that the more distant electrostatic contributions may be the source of metal specific enzymatic activity.  相似文献

The phase diagrams of PEO1500 + sodium tartrate + water, PPO400 + sodium tartrate + water, PEO1500 + sodium succinate + water, PPO400 + sodium succinate + water, PEO1500 + sodium citrate + water, PPO400 + sodium citrate + water and PPO400 + sodium acetate + water aqueous two-phase systems were determined at (283.15, 298.15, and 313.15) K. Both equilibrium phases composition were analyzed by conductimetry and refractive index. In this paper, the influences of polymer hydrophobicity, salt nature and temperature on the phase diagram were analyzed. The phase separation processes was endothermic and the hydrophobic increase make easier the phase splitting, while the electrolyte capacity to induce phase separation follow the order: citrate > tartrate > succinate. The consistency of the tie-line data was ascertained by applying the Othmer-Tobias correlation. The experimental data were correlated with the NRTL model for the activity coefficient, with estimation of new interaction energy parameters. The results, analyzed in terms of root mean square deviations between experimental and calculated compositions, were considered satisfactory.  相似文献

Phase diagrams of aqueous two-phase systems composed of PEO1500 + salt (di-potassium phosphate + potassium hydroxide or ammonium sulfate or zinc sulfate) + water were determined at (283.15, 298.15, and 313.15) K. All systems produce a large two-phase region; however the influence of temperature on the binodal position seems to be very small. By analyzing the effects of ammonium sulfate or zinc sulfate, it was observed that zinc was more effective in promoting phase separation than ammonium. The consistency of the tie-line data was ascertained by applying the Othmer-Tobias correlation. In this paper, aqueous two-phase systems data for nine ternary systems are correlated by using the NRTL model and UNIFAC for the activity coefficient. The results are very satisfactory, with root mean square deviations between experimental and calculated compositions as low as 0.99 and 1.21%, respectively. However the NRTL model better represents the systems in study, when compared with UNIFAC.  相似文献
