We demonstrate coherent control of two logical qubits encoded in a decoherence free subspace (DFS) of four dipolar-coupled protons in an NMR quantum information processor. A pseudopure fiducial state is created in the DFS, and a unitary logical qubit entangling operator evolves the system to a logical Bell state. The four-spin molecule is partially aligned by a liquid crystal solvent, which introduces strong dipolar couplings among the spins. Although the system Hamiltonian is never fully specified, we demonstrate high fidelity control over the logical degrees of freedom. In fact, the DFS encoding leads to higher fidelity control than is available in the full four-spin Hilbert space.  相似文献

We pursue the study of families of functions on the natural numbers, with emphasis here on the bounded families. The situation being more complicated than the unbounded case, we attack the problem by classifying the families according to their bounding and dominating numbers, the traditional scheme for gaps. The distribution of platinum-group elements (PGE) in the Main Sulfide Zone of the Great Dyke of Zimbabwe, in the arsenide ores of Vammala and Kylmäkoski mines in Finland, and in the chromite-Ni arsenide ores from the Ronda and Beni Bousera massifs (Spain and Morocco) has been studied by means of different optical and microanalytical techniques. The results show a bimodal distribution of PGE in the ores from the Great Dyke and the Vammala and Kylmäkoski mines where Pd, Pt and, to lesser extent, Rh occur both as discrete platinum-group minerals and in solid solution in sulfides, arsenides and sulfarsenides. In the ores from Ronda and Beni Bousera, platinum-group elements occur only in solid solution in arsenides and sulfarsenides.Trace electron probe (EPMA) and micro-PIXE analyses of Pd in sulfides, arsenides and sulfarsenides produce comparable results at concentration levels well above their limit of detection (LOD). These are 27–29ppm by EMPA and 2.5–7ppm by micro-PIXE. Whereas trace EPMA on arsenides and sulfarsenides measure Pt concentrations above 33–35ppm, the proximity of the Pt L lines and the As K line severely degrade de detection limit for Pt in micro-PIXE analyses, increasing the LOD up to 440ppm. The rest of PGE were randomly detected by both methods at concentrations close to their LOD.  相似文献

We present experimental results on the measurement of fidelity decay under contrasting system dynamics using a nuclear magnetic resonance quantum information processor. The measurements were performed by implementing a scalable circuit in the model of deterministic quantum computation with only one quantum bit. The results show measurable differences between regular and complex behavior and for complex dynamics are faithful to the expected theoretical decay rate. Moreover, we illustrate how the experimental method can be seen as an efficient way for either extracting coarse-grained information about the dynamics of a large system or measuring the decoherence rate from engineered environments.  相似文献

Quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols are cryptographic techniques with security based only on the laws of quantum mechanics. Two prominent QKD schemes are the Bennett-Brassard 1984 and Bennett 1992 protocols that use four and two quantum states, respectively. In 2000, Phoenix et al. proposed a new family of three-state protocols that offers advantages over the previous schemes. Until now, an error rate threshold for security of the symmetric trine spherical code QKD protocol has been shown only for the trivial intercept-resend eavesdropping strategy. In this Letter, we prove the unconditional security of the trine spherical code QKD protocol, demonstrating its security up to a bit error rate of 9.81%. We also discuss how this proof applies to a version of the trine spherical code QKD protocol where the error rate is evaluated from the number of inconclusive events.  相似文献
