Proteinases from Carica papaya Latex

Data on the proteinase complex from Carica papaya latex were reviewed. The properties and applications of the domestic preparation cucumazyme and known medicinal preparations based on papaya proteinases (caripazyme, lecozyme, lecopain) were compared.     

Groups in which every non-abelian subgroup is permutable

A subgroupH of a groupG is said to bepermutable ifHX=XH for every subgroupX ofG. In this paper the structure of groups in which every subgroup either is abelian or permutable is investigated. A Two-Dimensional Operator-Difference Scheme for Fluid Dynamics in Lagrangean Coordinates on an Irregular Triangular Grid with the Property of Local Approximation near the Symmetry Axis

The projection approach is applied to construct and investigate an operator-difference scheme for fluid dynamics in Lagrangean variables which has first-order local approximation in the axisymmetric case near the symmetry axis. The scheme also has operator properties that make it suitable for rederiving and substantiating previous results, methods, and algorithms.     

Creation, Dissipation and Recycling of Resources in Non-Equilibrium Systems

In this article, we define stochastic dynamics for a system coupled to reservoirs. The rules for forward and backward transitions are related by a generalized detailed balance identity involving the system and its reservoirs. We compare the variation of information and of entropy. We define the Carnot dissipation and prove that it can be expressed in terms of cyclic transformations. Lower bounds for partial dissipations are also studied, as well as the effect of switching off certain reservoirs. We also study the near degeneracy of the stochastic matrix, relate it to phase transitions and we show that the reduced dynamics on the set of phases is a permutation. Finally, we relate these concepts to heat, work and more generally to the dissipation and creation of resources, in general systems.     

Weak density of smooth maps for the Dirichlet energy between manifolds

We prove that given a simply connected compact manifold M and a closed manifold N, any map in the Sobolev space W ^1,2(M,N) can be approximated weakly by smooth maps between M and N. Submitted: September 2002, Final version: November 2002.     

Hawking Radiation of Dirac Particles in a Nonuniformly Rectilinearly Accelerating Black Hole

The Hawking radiation of Dirac particles on the event horizon of a nonuniformly rectilinearly accelerating black hole is studied in this paper. First, we construct the symmetrized null tetrad from which the spin coefficients and Dirac equation are derived. Next, by proposing generalized tortoise coordinate transformation, the decoupling problem of the Dirac equation with nonzero rest mass is solved. Finally, by analytic continuation, the Hawking thermal spectrum formula of Dirac particle for nonuniformly rectilinearly accelerating black hole is obtained.     

Optimized Pump Power Ratio on 2nd Order Pumping Discrete Raman Amplifier

By optimizing pump power ratio between 1st order backward pump and 2nd order forward pump on discrete Raman amplifier, we demonstrated over 2dB noise figure improvement without excessive non-linearity degradation.     

Mössbauer Study of Ceramic Finds from the Galería de las Ofrendas, Chavín de Huántar

Ceramic finds from the Galería de las Ofrendas at Chavín de Huántar and surface finds from the settlement of Chavín were characterised by combining the results of archaeological typology with archaeometric studies using neutron activation analysis, Mössbauer spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and thin-section microscopy. Sherds from the pyramid Tello are included in the study as representative of local material. The analyses show that the vessels were made from different raw materials and that different firing procedures were used in their production. Sherds of certain styles largely exhibit similar types of Mössbauer patterns and in many instances also have similar element compositions. This supports the archaeological notion that the vessels were brought to Chavín from the provinces, perhaps on the occasion of a festivity.     

Analysis of a Young–Michelson tandem interferometer

In a Young–Michelson tandem interferometer a Michelson interferometer is illuminated through a pair of Young slits. The pattern produced by this set-up is analyzed theoretically. The consequences of small misalignments and uncompensated arms in the Michelson interferometer are studied. The effects of the spatial and temporal partial coherence of the source are also explored. Experimental results using a laser source are shown to be in good agreement with the predicted theoretical calculations.
