Synthesis and nitration of 4,6(4,8)-dimethyl-4-methyl-6(8)-methoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydrospiro [quinoline-2-cyclohexanes]

The cydization of 1-allyl-1-arylaminocyclohexanes under conditions of acid catalysis afforded 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-4-methylspiro [quinoline-2-cyclohexanes] methyl (methoxy)-substituted in the phenylene ring. Their mono- and dinitro derivatives were synthesized, and their structure was established. Pyrazolines — Derivatives of 2-nitrochalcone

By the reaction of 2-nitrochalcone with hydrazine hydrate, 5-(2-nitrophenyl)-3-phenyl-1H-2-pyrazoline (I) and the hydrazone of 3-(5-(2-nitrophenyl)-3-phenyl-2-pyrazolin-1-yl)-3-(2-nitrophenyl)propiophenol (II) have been prepared. The acylation of both compounds I and II leads to N-acyl derivatives of the first. The acylating ability of formamide and N,N-dimethylformamide was observed in reactions with pyrazoline I. Flocculation of a Synthetic Rubber Latex with Homopolymers and Copolymers of N-Vinylcaprolactam and N-Vinylimidazoles

Flocculation of a latex of SKS-30 ARK commercial rubber with homopolymers and copolymers of N-vinylcaprolactam, 1-vinyl-2-methylimidazole, and its quaternization product was studied. The flocculating power of the nonionic polymers in acid solution was evaluated. The performance of the copolymers grows with increasing content of cationic units in the macromolecules and on adding an acid.     

Synthesis of 4-allyl-4-arylaminopiperidines and their transformations to spiro[tetrahydroquinoline-2,4′-piperidines]

It was established that the yields of a 4-allyl-4-aryl-aminopiperidines in the reaction of 4-aryliminopiperidines with allylmagnesium bromide increase significantly if the reaction is carried out in the presence of a crown ether. A number of previously unknown spiro[tetrahydroquinoline-2,4-piperidines] were obtained in the cyclization of 4-allyl-4-arylaminopiperidines in the presence of sulfuric acid.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 11, pp. 1514–1519, November, 1989.     

Embedded cluster calculation of the Ce3+ impurity in Lu2SiO5 crystals including crystal lattice relaxation and polarization

Results of electronic structure studies of the Ce³⁺ impurity in Lu₂SiO₅ crystals allowing for lattice polarization and relaxation are given. The calculations were performed by the embedded cluster method combining the scattered wave and molecular static methods. The effect of lattice deformation induced by the defect on the results of calculations is discussed. Investigation of the temperature dependence of the121,123Sb NQR parameters for some complexes of trivalent antimony

Conclusions The dependences of the^121,123Sb NQR frequencies on the temperature for M₂SbF₅ complexes (M=Na, Rb, Cs, CN₃H₆) and (CN₃H₆)₂ SbF₃SO₄, complexes, which display temperature ranges over which one observes a change in the character of the behavior of the asymmetry parameter of the gradient of the electric field of the antimony atoms or the spin-spin relaxation time T₂, were studied.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 3, pp. 561–565, March, 1985.     

Identification of raw materials for the production of vodkas based on the results of gas-liquid chromatographic analysis with the use of fuzzy logic

The concepts of fuzzy logic were applied to the analysis of gas-chromatographic data for 12 samples of Russian vodka products. It was found that, with the use of the truth degrees of fuzzy logic propositions on the composition of analytical samples based on a simulation of expert’s reasoning, the grade of raw materials used for the production of the analytical samples can be supposed and the conformity with standards can be established.     

Computer modelling of the conformational equilibrium of 2-and 2,5,5-substituted 1,3,2-dioxaborinanes

Empirical, semiempirical, and nonempirical quantum-chemical methods were used to study the conformational equilibrium of 2,5,5-substituted 1,3,2-dioxaborinanes. The sofa invertomers were found to correspond to the local and global minima on the potential energy surface.
