Solutions of 13 fluorescent dyes have been used as energy transfer agents in place of the normal coolant of a Nd-YAG laser. Dye mixtures were used in a few cases where incomplete absorption of flashlamp pump energy was observed. Improvements of over 100% in laser output were observed for some dyes having a long Stokes shift when tested at both a low-input energy and a low-pulse rate. However, the absolute improvement in laser output for these dye solutions was small, and the improvement could be obtained almost as well by merely increasing the pulse rate. Various factors associated with the effectiveness of transfer-dye solutions are discussed. 相似文献

This paper examines the long-term behavior of a discrete-time Footloose Capital model, where capitalists, who are themselves immobile between regions, move their physical capital between regions in response to economic incentives. The spatial location of industry can exhibit cycles of any periodicity or behave chaotically. Long-term behavior is highly sensitive to transport costs and to the responsiveness of capitalists to profit differentials. The concentration of industry in one region can result from high transport costs or from rapid responses by capitalists. In terms of possible dynamical behaviors, the discrete-time model is much richer than the standard continuous-time Footloose Capital model. 相似文献

The response of a deforming crystal to an abrupt strain rate change has been considered in the framework of the thermal model for low temperature anomalies of plastic deformation. Various modes of the deformation behaviour following strain rate changes have been predicted depending on the location of the point representing the state of the specimen in the plane of control parameters. A quantitive analysis of two characteristic modes of the deformation behaviour experimentally observed by KOMNIK and DEMIRSKI has been carried out with the aid of computer calculations and a good agreement with their data has been found. 相似文献

During plastic flow of crystalline solids, dislocations self-organize in the form of patterns, with a wavelength that is inversely proportional to stress. After four decades of investigations, the origin of this property is still under discussion. We show that dislocation patterns verifying the principle of similitude can be obtained from dynamics simulations of double slip. These patterns are formed in the presence of long- and short-range interactions, but they are not significantly modified when only short-range interactions are present. This new insight into dislocation patterning phenomena has important implications regarding current models. 相似文献
