Fluorescence of ammonia-d3 from its first excited singlet state

Structured emission spectra have been observed from ND₃ excited at 2139 Å and 2144 Å. The emission is short-lived (τ_{$\text{1}\text{2}$} < 10^?10 s) and has been assigned to the ND₃($\text{A}$) → ND₃($\text{X}$) fluorescence transition.     

Dissolved states of ionene polymers in water-acetone and their relation to the ionic partial molar adiabatic compressibility and volume

Solution properties of water-soluble synthetic polymer, 3,3-ionene and 6,6-ionene chloride and bromide disolved in water-acetone mixtures up to acetone content 50 wt% were investigated. Their partial molar volumes V ₂ ^o and partial molar adiabatic compressibilities K _s ^o were determined. Ionic additivity of V ₂ ^o with respect to the cation of backbone polymer chain and the counter-anion was confirmed quantitatively. The ionic additivity of V ₂ ^o is discussed along with the K _s ^o in their relation to the counterion binding of ionene polymers. Effects of ionic sites on the ionene are strong but they don't break the solvation layer.     

Determination of cefixime and its metabolises by high-performance capillary electrophoresis

Cefixime (CX), an oral cephalosporin antibiotic, and its metabolites in human digestive organs were separated by various modes of high-performance capillary electrophoresis. The zone electrophoresis mode in phosphate buffer (pH 6.8) containing 3-[(3-cholamidopropyl)dimethylammonio]-1-propanesulphonate gave the best separation, permitting the complete resolution of CX and all of five metabolites. On the other hand, the plain zone electrophoresis mode in phosphate buffer (pH 6.8) offered a simple procedure for the direct determination of urinary CX concentration using intact urine samples.     

Synthesis and characterization of trimetallic complexes with a borazine core

Treatment of [Cp*Ru(dppe)]⁺ with B-triethynyl-N-trimethylborazine and piperidine produces the trimetallic complex [Cp*Ru(dppe)(CC)]₃B₃N₃Me₃, the structure of which has been confirmed by X-ray diffraction. Reaction of RuHCl(CO)(PPh₃)₃ with B-triethynyl-N-trimethylborazine produces the trimetallic complex [RuCl(CO)(PPh₃)₂(CH=CH)]₃B₃N₃Me₃.     

Laser-induced oxidation reactions in supercritical ethane---O2 mixtures

The laser-induced oxidation of ethane by O₂ at 318 K was investigated with varying the pressure between 12–91 atm. The reaction condition was regarded as the supercritical phase above 50–60 atm, depending on the O₂ fraction. Ethanol, acetaldehyde, and CO₂ were mainly produced at any reaction conditions, together with small amounts of C₁ compounds and formic esters. The kinetic discussion for the time dependence indicated that the consecutive photolysis of primary products takes place during the subsequent laser irradiation period. The branching ratio to CO₂ formation in the primary process in the supercritical phase is much smaller than that in the gas phase, and the selectivities for ethanol and acetaldehyde show a discontinuous change near the critical point. These facts show that the supercritical phase affects this complex radical reaction system. The primary photoabsorption process is also discussed.
