Complexing sorbents based on dispersed minerals for recovery of heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions

We have obtained sorbents for recovery of heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions by modification of kaolinite and metakaolinite, aluminum oxyhydroxide and aluminum hydroxide by polyphosphates. Using sorption of Ni²⁺, Co²⁺ and Cr³⁺ as an example, we have shown that the sorbents have high sorption capacity and distribution coefficient with respect to heavy metal ions. We have studied the composition of the complexes formed. We have developed methods for granulation of the sorbents with a binder and for regeneration of the sorbents. A. V. 4-Ferrocenylpyridine- and 4-Ferrocenyl-3-ferrocenylmethyl-3,4-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarbonitriles: Multi-Component Synthesis, Structures and Electrochemistry

The reactions of 2-cyano-3-ferrocenylacrylonitrile (1) with malononitrile (2) in a MeOH/H₂O or 2-PrOH/H₂O medium in the presence of Na₂CO₃ afforded 6-alkoxy-2-amino-4-ferrocenylpyridine-3,5-dicarbonitriles 3a,b (multi-component condensation) and 6-alkoxy-2-amino-4-ferrocenyl-3-ferrocenylmethyl-3,4-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarbonitriles 4a,b (multi-component cyclodimerization). Analogous reactions of 1 with 2 in an MeOH/H₂O medium in the presence of NaOH, piperidine, or morpholine gave compounds 3a, 4a and 2-amino-4-ferrocenyl-6-hydroxy-, 6-piperidino- and 6-morpholinopyridine-3,5-dicarbonitriles 3c-e, respectively. The structures of the compounds 3b, 4a and 4b were established by the spectroscopic data and X-ray diffraction analysis. The electrochemical behaviour of compounds 3b, 3d and 4b was investigated by means of cyclic voltammetry.     

The microdetermination of primary and secondary saturated nitrocompounds

Summary We have proposed a method for microdetermination of nitrogroups in primary and secondary saturated nitrocompounds based on reduction by hydriodic acid of the aci-form of the nitrocompound to the oxime.     

Microdetermination of oxyethylene groups

Conclusions A method is proposed for microdetermination of oxyethylene group, based on its decomposition by heating with potassium iodide and orthophosphoric acid; the iodine which forms is determined by titration with sodium thiosulfate.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 10, pp. 2398–2400, October, 1970.     

<Superscript>1</Superscript>H NMR spectra of water contained in solutions of poly(<Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis>-vinylpyrrolidone) and its modification products in CDCl<Subscript>3</Subscript>

¹H NMR spectra in CDCl₃ of poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone), epoxidized poly(N-vinyl-pyrrolidone), and products derived from the latter by modification with amino acids (glycine, β-alanine, γ-aminobutyric acid, and ε-aminocaproic acid) were examined. The ¹H NMR spectra of the modified polymers contain signals for water protons due to different centers of water sorption. These signals differ in chemical shift and integral intensity and indicate a changed spatial packing of the polymer as the result of its modification. Published in Russian in Izvestiya Akademii Nauk. Determination of elements in tungsten sulfide catalysts

Summary A simple and rapid method is proposed for determining G, H, S, and W in tungsten sulfide catalysts. The accuracy of the determination is ±0.3%.
