Cathode strip chamber for CMS ME1/1 endcap muon station

Seventy-six serial ME1/1 cathode strip chambers have been produced in Dubna. These chambers are the coordinate detectors of the first muon station of the CMS detector at CERN. This paper describes the design of the chamber, its main mechanical parameters, and the results of the cosmic ray test. The text was submitted by the authors in English.     

Nitrosation of lignosulfonic acids for their colorimetric determination

The kinetics of lignosulfonic acid nitrosation in the presence of acetic and nitric acids used for generation of nitrous acid in combination with sodium nitrite was studied as applied to colorimetric determination of lignosulfonic acids.     

Molecular structure and morphology of biomineral composites based on nanohydroxyapatite and hyaluronic acid

New biocomposites based on hydroxyapatite and hyaluronic acid are obtained, and their structural and morphological characteristics are studied. With the use of a set of physicochemical methods, the effect of hyaluronic acid as an active medium in the synthesis of hydroxyapatite used to produce synthetic biocomposites close in structure to native hydroxyapatite is investigated.     

2,3-Benzodiazepine-1-thione in the synthesis of substituted and hetero-annelated 2,3-benzodiazepines

Quadratic convergence algorithms for the problem of capture of a point by a family of convex bodies

We consider the nonlinear optimal control problem with an integral functional in which the integrand function is the characteristic function of a given closed set in the phase space. The approximation method is applied to prove the necessary conditions of optimality in the form of the Pontryagin maximum principle without any prior assumptions on the behavior of the optimal trajectory. Properties and structure of GaAs films grown by molecular beam epitaxy on GaAs substrates with the (100), (111)A, and (111)B orientations

The structural perfection of GaAs epitaxial films grown by molecular beam epitaxy on substrates with the (100), (111)A, and (111)B orientations is investigated by double-crystal and triple-crystal x-ray diffractometry. It is found that the ratio γ of the molecular fluxes of arsenic and gallium has a strong influence on the structural quality of the epitaxial films. The optimum values of the parameter γ are found for each of the substrate orientations (100), (111)A, and (111)B. Zh. Tekh. Fiz. 69, 68–72 (July 1999)     

Spectrophotometric technique for determining simultaneously present formaldehyde and formic acid

A precise sensitive spectrophotometric method was developed for determining formaldehyde in aqueous solutions. The possibility of joint determination of formaldehyde and formic acid was examined.     

IC-100 accelerator complex for scientific and applied research

Industrial production of nuclear filters has been implemented at the IC-100 cyclotron complex of the Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. After the complete upgrade, the cyclotron was equipped with the superconducting ECR ion source and the system of external axial beam injection. The implantation complex was equipped with the special transportation channel with the beam scanning system and the setup for irradiation of polymer films. Intense beams of heavy ions Ne, Ar, Fe, Kr, Xe, I, and W with an energy of ～1 MeV/nucleon were obtained. the properties of irradiated crystals were studied, different polymer films were irradiated, and several thousands of square meters of track membranes with pore densities varying in a wide range were produced. Other scientific and applied problems can be solved at the cyclotron complex.     

Vacuum system of heavy ion cyclotron complex DC-60

The vacuum system of the heavy ion cyclotron complex DC-60 created at the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research for the interdisciplinary research complex (Astana, Kazakhstan) is described. The results of numerical simulation of transmission efficiency of accelerated ions in the course of recharging on residual gas, which determines the basic parameters of the designed vacuum system, are presented. As a result of successful implementation of the cyclotron complex DC-60 project, heavy ion beams were accelerated. The obtained parameters of the vacuum system agree completely with calculations, which were the basis of the project.
