Multielement content of coal by neutron activation analysis techniques

Due to the interaction with components present in natural waters, radionuclides may be present in different physico-chemical forms, varying in size, charge and density. The distribution pattern will influence the transport, mobility and biological uptake of the radionuclides. Size fractionation based on hollow fiber is useful for the determination of the size distribution pattern of radionuclides in natural waters. Furthermore, a continuous mixing and separation system has been developed for the investigation of the association of radionuclides with naturally occurring colloids. Results based on radionuclides in waste water from the Forsmark nuclear power plant, Sweden, will illustrate the potential usefulness of the technique.     

ANTHRALIN-DERIVED TRANSIENTS—II. FORMATION OF THE RADICAL BY SPONTANEOUS FRAGMENTATION OF BOTH SINGLET AND TRIPLET STATES OF THE 10,10''-DEHYDRODIMER: RADICAL PAIR MULTIPLICITY EFFECTS

The singlet and triplet states of the anthralin (1,8-dihydroxy-9-anthrone) dehydrodimer have been produced selectively in benzene via pulsed laser excitation and pulse radiolysis respectively. The lifetime of S1 is less than or equal to 30 ps, that of T1 short but unspecified. Both states fragment spontaneously to yield a pair of anthralin radicals. The singlet radical pair predominantly undergoes geminate recombination within the solvent cage. In contrast, the corresponding triplet radical pair undergoes essentially exclusive cage escape to give the anthralin free radical (lambda max 370, 490 and 720 nm) which recombines under normal diffusive conditions. Both recombination processes lead, at least in part, to one or more species which have been assigned as tautomeric forms of the original dimer. The anthralin free radical in benzene is insensitive to the vitamin E model 6-hydroxy-2,2,5,7,8-pentamethylchroman and reacts only slowly with oxygen.     

Phase Transfer Catalyzed Synthesis under Ultrasonic Irradiation and Bioactivity of N''''-(4,6-Disubstituted-pyrimidin-2-yl)-N-(5-aryl-2-furoyl) Thiourea Derivatives

Acylthiourea derivatives are useful as pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and regulator for plant growth, and also as important intermediates in the organic synthesis. In recent years, phase transfer catalysis reaction technique has been widely recognized as an efficient synthetic tool and attracted much attention. In view of these observations, a series of 5-aryl-2-furoyl thioureas containing substituted pyrimidine ring were synthesized using PEG-400 as solid-liquid phase transfer catalyst under ultrasonic irradiation. All of the new compounds have been exactly determined by IR, 1H NMRand elemental analysis.     

Kinetic Behavior of Aggregation-Exchange Growth Process with Catalyzed-Birth

We propose an aggregation model of a two-species system to mimic the growth of cities' population and assets,in which irreversible coagulation reactions and exchange reactions occur between any two aggregates of the same species,and the monomer-birth reactions of one species occur by the catalysis of the other species.In the case with population-catalyzed birth of assets,the rate kernel of an asset aggregate Bκ of size k grows to become an aggregate Bκ 1through a monomer-birth catalyzed by a population aggregate Aj of size j is J(k,j) = Jkjλ.And in mutually catalyzed birth model,the birth rate kernels of population and assets are H(k,j) = Hkjη and J(k,j) = Jkjλ,respectively.The kinetics of the system is investigated based on the mean-field theory.In the model of population-catalyzed birth of assets,the long-time asymptotic behavior of the assets aggregate size distribution obeys the conventional or modified scaling form.In mutually catalyzed birth system,the asymptotic behaviors of population and assets obey the conventional scaling form in the case ofη =λ= 0,and they obey the modified scalingform in the case of η = 0,λ= 1.In the case of η = λ = 1,the total mass of population aggregates and that of asset aggregates both grow much faster than those in population-catalyzed birth of assets model,and they approaches to infinite values in finite time.

高频地波雷达下的多目标跟踪数据处理

根据高频地波雷达监测海上低速移动目标的要求及该类雷达的特点,提出了一种与高频地波雷达目标跟踪相适应的多目标跟踪数据处理方案。在该方案中对BTC(bayes tracking confirm)方法与BTT(bayes tracking termination)方法进行了改进,解决了上述两种方法在高频地波雷达实际应用中存在的问题。提出了贝叶斯准则与次数判定相结合的跟踪起始和终结方法。模拟结果表明,该方案能够稳定、有效地实现高频地波雷达密集回波下的多目标跟踪。     

Influence of precursor solvent extraction on stable isotope signatures of methylamphetamine prepared from over-the-counter medicines using the Moscow and Hypophosphorous routes

A number of methods of clandestine manufacture of methylamphetamine involve the extraction and subsequent reaction of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride with other essential chemicals. The precursor can be easily extracted from over-the-counter medication widely available in the UK and elsewhere. Essential chemicals such as iodine and red phosphorous are also readily available and can be extracted from iodine tinctures and matchboxes, respectively. This work reports the repetitive preparation of methylamphetamine using two popular routes (the Moscow and Hypophosphorous synthesis). The focus was on the extraction solvent used for isolation of the precursor chemical and any consequential isotopic variation which may arise in the final product. Six batches of methylamphetamine were prepared under precisely controlled conditions for each synthetic route and for each of three different precursor extraction solvents. Synthesis of the final product from laboratory grade precursor using the synthetic methods described was used as a template for comparison. The resultant IRMS data from all 48 prepared samples suggests some underlying trends in the identification of the synthetic route which may aid in the interpretation of IRMS data derived from clandestine samples.     

Development of chiral heteroleptic magnesium amides; asymmetric deprotonations mediated by six-membered metallocyclic amidomagnesium naphtholates

A series of enantioenriched six-membered metallocyclic amidomagnesium naphtholates were prepared and used to probe the structure–reactivity/selectivity relationships of heteroleptic magnesium base complexes within asymmetric deprotonation reactions. An effective complex was identified and applied within enantioselective enolisation processes, delivering good levels of enantioselectivity and also revealing key structural requirements for achieving such selectivity.     

Iridium-Catalyzed Formyl-Selective Deuteration of Aldehydes

We report the first direct catalytic method for formyl-selective deuterium labeling of aromatic aldehydes under mild conditions, using an iridium-based catalyst designed to favor formyl over aromatic C−H activation. A good range of aromatic aldehydes is selectively labeled, and a one-pot labeling/olefination method is also described. Computational studies support kinetic product control over competing aromatic labeling and decarbonylation pathways.
