The formation of liquid-crystalline structure in hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) in the solvent 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) is described. In addition, an attempt is made to preserve the ordered structure of HPC in a composite by polymerizing the solvent. Optical evidence, including refractive index, absorption spectra, polarized-light microscopy, and x-ray diffraction, indicates that HPC-HEMA solutions exhibit the cholesteric nature of the mesophase over limited concentration and temperature ranges. The polymer composite (HPC-PHEMA) prepared from the liquid-crystalline solution by polymerization of HEMA is endowed with anisotropic organization reflecting liquid-crystalline character. Detailed morphological observations of the composite by electron microscopy show many round particles composed of parallel-stacked, disklike lamellae, and aggregate bodies developed by coalescence of neighboring particles. 相似文献

Emission spectra and decay times of the fluorescence excited at the absorption edge region in pyrene crystals were measured. At liquid nitrogen temperature, the fluorescence under the excitation at 390 nm is considered as the excimer emission and its band peak shifts a little to the short wavelength in comparison with that of the excimer emission under the excitation at 360 nm. The emission decay times under the excitation at the 390 nm and 360 nm are about 155 ns and 180 ns, respectively, at liquid nitrogen temperature. The former decay time changes its value abruptly near 127 K. This abrupt change of the decay time may be due to the phase transition in pyrene crystals. 相似文献

We describe the efficient synthesis of DTPA-conjugated oligosaccharides composed of alpha- and/or beta-linked tri to monoglucosamines. Gd(iii) complex with DTPA-conjugated chitotriitol has been reported to be an effective MRI contrast agent. In order to elucidate the structure-property relationships, we planned to synthesize the DTPA-conjugated 2-amino-tri-, di-, and monosaccharides varying in configuration at the anomeric positions and the C2 position on the reducing end. Our strategy for the synthesis of the DTPA-conjugated oligosaccharides involves O-perbenzyl protected 2-amino-tri-, di-, and monosaccharides as key intermediates. The 2-aminoglycosides were prepared by non-selective glycosidation of 2-azido-2-deoxyglycosyl donors, followed by separation of two anomeric isomers. Although the synthesis involves separation of the stereoisomers, it circumvents not only the careful tuning of reaction conditions, but also the time-consuming preparation of glycosyl donors attached to different protecting groups. The protected 2-aminoglycosides were converted to the fully deprotected DTPA-conjugated tri- to monosaccharides by the same operation. MRI phantom study using the Gd(III) complexes of DTPA-conjugated oligosaccharides indicates that the number of the monosaccharide units was critical for enhancing the relative signal intensity of water protons per Gd, and various stereoisomers would be candidate scaffolds for MRI contrast agents. 相似文献

We report the first experimental results showing transition-specific anisotropy of molecular frame (e, 2e) cross sections. Vector correlations between the two outgoing electrons and the fragment ion have been measured for specific ionization-excitation processes of H2. The results enable us to obtain molecular frame (e, 2e) cross sections for transitions to the 2ssigma(g) and 2psigma(u) excited states of H(2)(+), thereby making stereodynamics of the electron-molecule collisions directly visible. 相似文献

We report on the observation of doubly charged helium ions produced by a nonlinear interaction between a helium atom and photons with a photon energy of 42 eV which are generated with the 27th harmonic of a femtosecond pulse from a Ti:sapphire laser. The number of ions is proportional to the square of the intensity of the 27th harmonic pulse, and thus two-photon double ionization should be dominantly induced as compared with other nonlinear processes accompanying sequential ionization via a singly charged ion. This phenomenon is utilized to measure the pulse duration of the 27th harmonic pulse by using an autocorrelation technique, for the first time to our knowledge, and as a result a duration of 8 fs is found. 相似文献

We report a systematic angle-resolved photoemission study on Na(x)CoO2 for a wide range of Na concentrations (0.3 < or = x < or = 0.72). In all the metallic samples at different x, we observed (i) only a single holelike Fermi surface centered around gamma and (ii) its area changes with x according to the Luttinger theorem. We also observed a surface state that exhibits a larger Fermi surface area. The e'(g) band and the associated small Fermi surface pockets near the K points predicted by band calculations are found to sink below the Fermi energy in a manner almost independent of the doping and temperature. 相似文献

In this Letter, we discuss the generation of magnetic field from cosmological perturbations. We consider the evolution of three component plasma (electron, proton, and photon) evaluating the collision term between electrons and photons up to the second order. The collision term is shown to induce electric current, which then generates magnetic field. There are three contributions, two of which can be evaluated from the first-order quantities, while the other one is fluid vorticity, which is purely second order. We estimate the magnitudes of the former contributions and show that the amplitude of the produced magnetic field is about approximately 10(-19) G at 10 Mpc comoving scale at the decoupling. Compared to astrophysical and inflationary mechanisms for seed-field generation, our study suffers from much less ambiguities concerning unknown physics and/or processes. 相似文献

We propose an optical circuit design method for coherent waves as a boundary value problem. The method produces a very compact circuit in which the refractive index pattern is automatically synthesized for given input and output fields with a numerical calculation. We present measurements of the spin and orbital magnetic moments of Fe3O4 by using SQUID and magnetic circular dichroism in soft x-ray absorption. The measurements show that Fe3O4 has a noninteger spin moment, in contrast to its predicted half-metallic feature. Fe3O4 also exhibits a large unquenched orbital moment. Calculations using the local density approximation including the Hubbard U method and the configuration interaction cluster-model suggest that strong correlations and spin-orbit interaction of the 3d electrons result in the noninteger spin and large orbital moments of Fe3O4. 相似文献
