Synthesis and characterization of cross‐linkable ruthenium complex dye and its application on dye‐sensitized solar cells

A new crosslinkable light sensitizer, Ru(2,2′‐bipyridine‐4,4′‐bicarboxylic acid)(4,4′‐bis(11‐dodecenyl)‐2,2′‐bipyridine)(NCS)₂, denoted as Ru‐C for titanium oxide nanocrystalline‐based solar cells was synthesized with its crosslinking properties invesitigated by Fourier‐transform infrared and UV‐vis absorption spectroscopies. After crosslinking by itself or copolymerizing with methyacrylic acid, their sensitized solar cells with poly(methylacrylate)‐gelled electrolyte system not only attained more than 5% of power conversion efficiency at AM 1.5 illumination (100 mW/cm²), but also gave rise to long storage life. Three‐component negative‐type photosensitive polyimide precursor based on poly(amic acid), a crosslinker,and a photoacid generator

A new negative‐working and alkaline‐developable photosensitive polyimide precursor based on poly(amic acid) (PAA), 4,4′‐methylenebis[2,6‐bis(hydroxymethyl)]phenol (MBHP) as a crosslinker, and a photoacid generator (5‐propylsulfonyloxyimino‐5H‐thiophen‐2‐ylidene)‐2‐(methylphenyl)acetonitrile (PTMA) has been developed. PAA was prepared by ring‐opening polymerization of pyromellitic dianhydride with 4,4′‐oxydianiline. The photosensitive polyimide precursor containing PAA (65 wt %), MBHP (25 wt %), and PTMA (10 wt %) showed a clear negative image featuring 10 μm line and space patterns when it was exposed to 436 nm light at 100 mJ·cm^?2, post‐exposure baked at 130 °C for 3 min, followed by developing with a 2.38 wt % aqueous tetramethylammonium hydroxide solution at 25 °C. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Aggregation structure and mechanical properties of functionally graded polyurethane elastomers

Functionally graded polyurethane elastomers (FGPUEs) were prepared with two molds fixed at different temperatures (30 and 150 °C). The effects of the molar ratio of the curing agent (60/40, 75/25, or 97/3 1,4‐butane diol/1,1,1‐trimethylol propane) and the molecular weight of the polymer glycol (number‐average molecular weight = 2000 or 3000) on the molecular aggregation state and mechanical properties of the FGPUEs were investigated with differential scanning calorimetry, polarized optical microscopy, dynamic viscoelastic measurements, and tensile tests. The aggregation state of the FGPUEs was changed continuously from the one side (lower temperature side) to the other side (higher temperature side); for example, the glass‐transition temperature gradually increased in this direction. Also, the number of spherulites formed in the FGPUEs increased in the same manner. In the mechanical tests, the tensile strength and elongation at break of the lower temperature side were higher than those of the higher temperature side. This was correlated with the strong phase separation of the lower temperature side. The poly(oxytetramethylene glycol)‐based FGPUE with a chain extender of 75 wt % showed the largest degree of the temperature gradient. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Logarithmic asymptotics for a single-server processing distinguishable sources

We consider a single-server first-in-first-out queue fed by a finite number of distinct sources of jobs. For a large class of short-range dependent and light-tailed distributed job processes, using functional large deviation techniques we prove a large deviation principle and logarithmic asymptotics for the joint waiting time and queue lengths distribution. We identify the paths that are most likely to lead to the rare events of large waiting times and long queue lengths. A number of examples are presented to illustrate salient features of the results.      

K‐linked graphs with girth condition

Recently, Mader [ 7 ] proved that every 2k‐connected graph with girth g(G) sufficiently large is k‐linked. We show here that g(G ≥ 11 will do unless k = 4,5. If k = 4,5, then g(G) ≥ 19 will do. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Graph Theory 45: 48–50, 2004     

Charged particle multiplicity distributions ine + e − annihilation at 29 GeV: a comparison with hadronic data

The charged particle multiplicity distributions for two-jet events ine ⁺ e ^? annihilation at 29 GeV have been measured using the High Resolution Spectrometer at PEP. A Poisson distribution describes the data for both the complete event and for the single jets. In addition, no correlation is observed between the multiplicities in the two jets of an event. For fixed values of the prong number of the complete event, the multiplicity sharing between the two jets is in good agreement with a binomial distribution. The rapidity gap distribution is exponential with a slope equal to the mean rapidity density. These observations, which are consistent with a picture of independent emission of single particles, are contrasted to the results from soft hadronic collisions and conclusions are drawn about the nature of clusters.
